Kitchen Gadgets I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread about our favorite kitchen gadgets. What do you have that you can't live without? My food processor gets used all the time - I couldn't live without it - especially since I homecook for the doggies. On another note, I am need of a good chopper / slicer, and I know you guys can help me! I have a slicer blade for the food processor, but it cuts too thin. I'd like somthing with variation so I can get thick or thin slices. I used to have a smart chopper, which was great for chopping & dicing, but it was cheap plastic, and it's already gone to the gadget graveyard. I'd like something that can handle raw potatoes (I like to cut my own potato chips & fries) but the plastic gadgets do not work unless you cook the pototaes first! Is it possible to get an all-in-one kitchen gadget that slices, dices, & chops?? |
my husband he cooks everything i need to be able to stay alive! i hate cooking give me the chores but i just dont do well cooking! i admire all of you who can chef it up in the kitchen. that is just not me. |

I love my bread maker... it makes the best rolls. I also love my one good knife. That'll change soon I'm about to become a Cutco rep, so I'll have the most awesome knives... Lets see, honeslty all my good quality stuff I just LOVE. The most favorite gadget though.... hmmm so hard to choose, I love my whole drawer! |
My dh bought me a (it's called this but it does everything) Vidalia Onion chopper. ooohhh man I LOVE this thing! I think it was one of those 'as seen on TV' things he found at Walgreens like 3 years ago or something for $10. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I use it for just about everything. I make homemade salsa a lot, I chop ALL my veggies for soups... I mean I am pulling this thing out 3-4x a week to chop stuff. It has 2 plates/grates, one bigger cubes and one smaller. It now takes me 1/3 the time to make a salad than it used to. It is by FAR my favorite kitchen gadget. If you ever want to know if this works... it does! https://www.chopwizard.com/?s_kwcid=...FeU7OgodlB_wng |
1 Attachment(s) I remember years ago, we ate at Olive Garden for the first time. When they brought the cheese grater to the table, I about died and went to Heaven:laugh: I ran out and got one as soon as I could and I still use it a couple of times a week:D |
Definitely my Magic Bullet.. i make a green smoothie every morning , it's super powerful and the cleanup is so easy! |

I love my Kitchen Aid stand mixer too. This thread made me think of the Honeymooners when Ralph was Chef of the Future with his handy kitchen gadget. |

I must be crazy because I have alot of the kitchen gadgets mentioned in this thread so far  cept the magic bullet, food processor and the bread maker - although I have thought about getting them! I don't think I have a favorite because I use so many of them including my cutco knives. I would have to say that my favorite gadget is my slicer from Pampered Chef too. I use it to slice eggplant for parmesean etc. |
Not sure if you consider this a gadget but it is well worth the money! NuWave Oven Official Website - As Seen on TV Countertop Appliance |
Yes, I also have the Kitchen Aid mixer - that's another "can't live without" item. I have used the Magic Bullet, and the Vidiala Onion chopper also. I guess I am addicted to gadgets, LOL ... but I still can't find something that does everything. I'd like to do away with some of these things to make some room! I'm leaning towards the Ultimate Mandoline slicer from Pampered Chef, but I'm not sure that will take care of all my needs. It's a good start though. |
Not sure if these are considered "gadgets" but I love my Kitchen Aid blender and my Champion Juicer!! |

I use my kitchen aid and food processor all the time. My new fav gadget is this thing that you can make curly fries with. I need a blender |
I just thought of another kitchen item that I've been wanting for awhile - a food dehydrator. Anyone have a good one? |

I just remembered another item that I use all the time - my pizza stone. If you have never used one, you have to try it - they work great and the pizza comes out amazing.  |

If you google Madoline slicer you will find a bunch of different versions. I have one, I do use it because it is such a pain to get the food processor out for small jobs... I found it is best to get a good quality. I personally like having a very high quality chef knif for basic chopping, dicing etc. I also LOVE the new rubber spactulas that can be used with high temperatures!! And my good ole wooden spoon |
I agree about the Magic Bullet! We use ours all summer long for fresh smoothies :) It's very convenient! I have a food processor on my wedding registry :) I've never used one before but I think I would love it! I make homemade soup a lot and boy does it take a long time to cut up all those veggies one by one with a knife! I bought a never-used mandolin slicer from a garage sale last year for $1. I used it that night and my hand slipped and I cut off a good chunk from the side of my thumb. It is now back in our pile of garage sale stuff lol! Next year maybe I can sell it for $1 again. Too dangerous for me! Or I'm too clumsy for it! Lol! Oh and I JUST got a food steamer from my bridal shower this past weekend! I have not taken it out of the box yet but I am excited to use it! |

Here is another thing I use literally almost every day... a pasta pot. Its a large pot with a metal drop in full of holes. You fill it with water to boil for pasta and there are 2 metal handles that attach to the holes and you pull it out of the water that way. But I use it for steaming veggies almost every day. I use it for corn on the cob, asparagus, broccoli, peapods, carrots, really any veggie. But what I loved about it was the lid had a timer and it has cooking times for all kinds of pastas on the inside of the lid. So I would set the lid timer and it would ring when it was ready. LOVE that pot! The timer broke and I haven't been able to find another pot like it anywhere, even searching online. |

Definitely my Sodastream soda maker. I couldn't live without it..use it many times a day filling up liters of water and carbonating them. Then I just put slices of lemon and lime in my water and thats what I drink all day long. Don't drink soda or pop unless I go out to eat, but thats it..its carbonated water for me. |
