5 things about me I love animals, but people are incredibly intriguing to me. Especially in an online environment where you only know them by the text that appears on your computer screen and an occasional picture. I thought it would be fun to take some time to get to know each other by listing 5 things about yourself that you think others would find interesting. You can tell as much or as little as you like. 1. Though I live in Utah, I was born in Australia. I've only been in the states 9 years, but I've been all over it. 2. Even though I have a masters degree in computer science, after 15 years of working as a robotics programmer, I quit my career and went back to school for interior design. I didn't fit very well in the "geek crowd." (I don't eat cheetos or drink pepsi) 3. I have 4 human kids, ages 7, 8, (boys) 14 and 21 (girls). I plan to put the 8 year old and the 21 year old up on ebay soon. The 4 of them have collectively helped me develop a well tuned sense of humor. 4. I rarely take anything in life seriously. My personality is usually humorous and sarcastic and I love making people laugh. Life is too short to cry. I've seen so much that nothing surprises me anymore and whatever happened, I usually have a smart ass comment for it. 5. I'm an only child. My parents had me and learned their lesson. Yes. I was a handful. I think I still am! Your turn! |
oh fun! 1. i was born and raised in massachusetts and migrated to nh almost 11 years ago. i dont know that i could ever move back now after being here. 2. i love to sew, take photos, play with my furr babies....i try to keep busy with all sorts of things/projects and sometimes im bad with my follow thru. i am also addicted to sims social on fb. i love music all music and have to access to music at all times even when sewing. im secretly a rock star in my own mind!!! haha. 3. i always wanted to be a fashion designer that was my deepest desire in life and still is just now more focused toward the furr babies side of the industry. 4. i tended to take things way to seriously in life. im a cancer and still wear my heart on my sleeve but over the years my skin has become much thicker and i have learned to not sweat the small things as theres a much bigger problem around the corner!!! haha. 5. my dream is to someday run my own lil internet business and live by the beach...its the cancer in me need to be around the sea!! |
1. My name is Kelly and I'm a single parent to :animal-pa Hunter my Turkish Van imposter cat, and:yorkieg: Teaka the overgrown gerbil. Hunter has the mentality of a 2 year old and is always getting in trouble. The energy that cat has is amazing. Teaka is an old soul I think. She is the one who will tattle tail on the cat if he is getting in trouble. She rules the roost! 2. I live in NH, lived here pretty much my whole life. Love to travel to different places. Been to several states, Canada and Ireland. 3. I work in the Health Care industry, actually Health Information Services. Went to school for Computer Information systems, and I'm a total tech geek at heart. 4. My nieces Caitlin and Isabelle are my favorite little people. They are histerical and I love them to pieces. I am their favorite Auntie! (Caitlin told me so. lol ) 5. I am a complete sentimental/emotional sap. I am a hardcore worrier and I stress very very easily. Trying to keep my life as stress free as possible. :D |
I was born in Dayton Oh but have lived in Indianapolis Indiana the vast majority of my life Im a stay at home Mom and love it I have been married 13 yrs however Ive been with my Husband about 22 yrs I love doing anything outdoors and spend alot of time in my back yard or walking in our local park I would love to live In Florida. I love the beach however I also love all the activities there. We are Disney fanatics and usually visit there and the Tampa parks every yr |
This is great here goes: 1.) I am a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fanatic. I wear the same clothes every game as not to jinx them (yes I have that kind of power LOL) 2.) I am 1 of 4 kids, only girl (hence my love for sports) and youngest by 9 years 3.) I work in telecommunications, majored in communications and my life goal was to be a Sportscaster 4.) I have 1 skin child who is amazing, wonderful and all those great things-obviously hasn't hit the teen years yet;) 5.) I live in the burbs in Maryland between Washington DC and Baltimore. High cost of living but so many other great things outweigh the cost:) |
-I am 25 years old and am a certified K-8 teacher looking for an elementary teaching position. I've been subbing for 1.5 years and am hoping to snag a position this fall. -I am married (coming on 4 years) and I get irritated when people ask when we are having kids. We have NO desire right now, and I don't think it should be automatically assumed that we will be having children... I think it's been ingrained in our society that children are just part of life, and I think we need to get away from that... Not everyone should have children! lol -I own an old house (1912) and spend a lot of my spare time (and money! lol) fixing it up. From paint stripping, painting, sanding, landscaping, to electrical... We've done it all. -Last but not least, I'm married to a Canadian and would live there if it weren't for my family. I love Vancouver (where dh is from) but cannot bear the idea of leaving my family... |
Five things about me; that might be interesting 1. I used to dance when I was very young with the National Ballet of Canada 2. I love all sports, and when I stopped dancing, finally got to do a whole bunch of them 3. I've travelled a lot (but not recently). Europe, India, all over Canada, some to the USA. I'd love to go to Ireland, and Africa, but don't see that happening anytime soon. 4. I love people (in small groups), and of course animals. While I show dogs, my true passion is in having fun with the pups, through different kinds of performance sports. To whit I'm a structure, health and function fanatic, and just love to learn everything I can. 5. My dream is to have lots of space in the country, and the money to build a premiere dog facility, encompassing training, performance sports, facilities for rehabbing dogs, and of course conformation showing. I also am a very active member of my dog club, and one day hope to make changes within the show environment. |
Hmmm I am not very interesting lol 1. I am 24 and have lived in Maryland for my whole life. 2. When I was 13 my step-dad adopted me but he married my mom when I was 8 and had been living with us sense I was 4. I would write my name with his last name by the time I was 6 even thought I couldn't do that at school because it wasn't legal. But he thought me and did everything with me a regular dad would do. People even say we look alike. 3. I played softball for 8 years and absolutely loved it and wanted to be a profession player and make the sport as big as regular baseball :) 4. I wish I could be the Rachel Zoe of the dog world 5. I can memorize things very easily and not on purpose. We have been to look at houses to move and I could drawl the layout of all 8 of them just after only seeing them once. I beg people like my mom and grandma not to have me sign in to there accounts because I can remember there passwords after one time and its not like I would sign in and do stuff to there account but I don't want to know the password. |

Below is my power room, before and after. Total cost: $675 including the granite sink, counter top and the tile floor. I did every bit of the work myself. |
1. I live in WV and love it! 2. I have 5 children aged 16, 11, 9, 8 and 6. I home school all 5. 3. Before becoming a stay at home mom, I was a vet tech. Animals have been my passion since I was a small child. 4. I have 4 dogs, a cat and 15 exotic birds:) 5. I never thought I was a small dog person but Tink has captured my heart!! |
2 Attachment(s) 4 picture limit puts me in another post. Here's the final product. Oh and that $675 included all the decorations on the walls and counters. |
I want to play: 1. We don't have children either, and we don't plan to. Having children is not for everybody, but we're NOT anti-children. It's just not for us, that's all. 2. I live a simple, quiet life. 3. I am a true introvert. I enjoy being alone, and being alone with my thoughts. My husband is similar, and that's in part why we're a good match. We give each other space. 4. Friendship matches (and love matches, for that matter) are rare for me. 5. My life motto: Learn as you go. Adapt and shift. |

3 years ago. I didn't realize how easy it is and how much you can save by doing it yourself. We only spent a total of about 5,500. That includes all brandnew appliances. :D okay...back to the subject. lol 1. We are planning to buy a house in a couple of years(maybe sooner)....an older one so we can fix it up the way we want. :D see above ;) 2. People don't believe me when I tell them my age and that I have 4 kids and my oldest is 21!(yikes!) I guess it's the Asian genes. When I take my son to High School people think i'm a student there. lol 3. I am a daycare provider and I love every minute of it. These babies/kids teach me! I can't help but smile everytime I look at one of these kids in the eyes. They amaze me everyday. 4. I plan on becoming the crazy old lady with a pack of my own.(My hubby the protective old man) :D I'm looking for a Biewer as we speak. As much as I love my skin kids...I'll trade one for a Biewer. ahahahahahaaa 5. Ohana means everything to me. Friends too. I will bend over backward to help you if I can. It's in my nature to love and help. Sometimes it's my downfall. (So hubby tells me) I guess that's five. I love getting to know everyone here. |
5 things that could be interesting about me: 1) Daddy was "in oil", so I have traveled/ lived all over the world. Momma and daddy were in Alaska when she went into labor with me...she fled back to Beaumont, Texas so "her child would be born in Texas"...actually her family was all here, so that was where she went! I have a brother 6 years younger than me...momma didnt make it back to Texas with him...got as far as Ardmore, Ok! 2) Grew up mostly in Kuwait, daddy was with Getty Oil, CEO Middle East Operations....First Gulf War, invasion and bombing of Kuwait was like watching my home town being destroyed. 3) Got into vet school after much to do and string pulling...girls didnt go to vet school much back then....was such a mommas baby, quit and came back to Houston, went into nursing school and lived at home, until I married. 4) Was fortunate to follow my passion for riding, taking hunter/jumper lessons from the instructor of the Danish Olympic Equestrian Riding Team. 5) Raised and showed Arabian horses....got divorced.....got into Yorkies in 1978, and started breeding in 2000....looking forward to retiring in 2013 from nursing, to pursue my passion, my babies, full time! |
1 Attachment(s) 5 Things about me, I don't know how interesting it is.:) Last Monday I celebrated my 24th anniversay with my dh. We went bass fishing on a watershed leased pond. It's so much fun when the fish are biting. This was the sunset that evening... Attachment 369222 I have an associates degree in applied science for horse production. I spent a few years in a few foaling barns being a midwife for mares before coming back to Kansas to marry my DH. Long story. I am a loner and love time to myself. I have found a new love in photography and enjoy spending my time traveling unmaintained roads with Moka and Mylee photographing what Kansas has to offer. When I was a kid, I started one of our old unused barns on fire by playing with fire from the trash. (back then, in the country we burned our own trash in barrels) I didn't know manure would burn. When my mom called me for dinner, I quickly burried the burning stick with dry manure from the lot and ran off to dinner. A few minutes later we looked out to see it on fire. My mom still thinks the wind blew the burning trash over there and started it. Someday, I'd love to write a book. |

1- I'm one of the younger yorkietalkers here at only 22 (23 in a month and a half!) 2- I just moved a fabulous new apartment in Connecticut last weekend with my boyfriend, Bentley, and our tabby cat Olivia. It's an old mill turned apartment complex and it is BEAUTIFUL. 3- I love, love, love all things artsy specifically music and photography. 4- I have an unhealthy obsession with high-end makeup/skincare/beauty-related products. If my extra spending money isn't going to new stuff for Bentley, it's absolutely going to that habit. 5- I went to college for psychology, but somehow ended up with an office job as a project engineer! Go figure XD |
Hm, fascinating me: 1. I'm 38. I grew up in LA, went to school in Boston, lived in New York for a long time, then moved to SF a while back. I still really miss New York. 2. I tend to go to extremes. I tend to have one obsessive interest at a time - yoga, cooking, work project, dog body language - and it's very hard for me to break away from it and do normal life stuff. 3. I work way too much. I have been struggling with this since I moved to San Francisco (and switched jobs), and have made some limited progress on balance. I definitely am attached to my job with golden handcuffs. 4. I am always struggling to do better and be better. In some ways that's good as it keeps me curious and learning, but I think it also stems from not being happy with myself the way I am. I am trying to change this too. 5. I am something of a movie buff. I've been working for years to find a movie that perfectly encapsulates the state it takes place in. I was really happy to see 'The Descendents' and finally get Hawaii squared away. :D 6. I love YT! |
It was so interesting reading up on everyone! lol :) Here's 5 about me...I'm not that interesting though. 1. I'm a Carolina Girl!!!I moved, this past November, to Texas to live with my HS sweetheart! But..I grew up in Myrtle Beach, SC! I loved saying "I live where you vacation :)" I miss EVERYTHING about the east coast. I lived in a beach house. My backyard was the ocean. I miss it so much... 2. I'm only 20 years old! I was 19 when I joined YT and posted that I wanted a yorkie...and not everyone took too well to a teenager wanting a yorkie  :p Totally understandable, but I was determined to prove everyone wrong! 3. I was a vegan from 6th grade up til last summer. Now I'm not even a vegetarian anymore. I felt bad for the longest time, but it's such a primal, natural thing to want to do...I was weak! Animal welfare is still SO important to me, and I feel like a hypocrite, but..c'est la vie. 4. I miss performing. All throughout school I was involved in musicals, plays, show choir, concert choir, took jazz, ballet, and lyrical dance, played piano, and took voice lessons. I actually went to college to major in Music Education. I planned on being an elementary music teacher. It didn't work out though...it was too hard. I finished my first year and then didn't go back in the fall. When I went to college for music, it drained my love and passion for performing, and I hated it. I absolutely loathed singing and dancing, and it was all wrong...so I've decided when I do go back to school, I'm going to be a vet tech or something similar. I want to help animals. 5. I was in a long-distance relationship for two years. I started dating my boyfriend in 10th grade. He was a year older, and when he graduated he got a full scholarship to a college...in Texas. He left and I stayed behind, but after last year I decided I needed to be with him, so I left my whole family and ALL my friends, to follow my heart. Now I'm happy and where I'm supposed to be :) I love him so much and I feel so blessed to have found the person I absolutely will be with from now until my last day on earth. Oh, and our four year anniversary is in three days!!! :) |
I wanna play! I love reading and learning about everyone here. 1- I live in south florida but I was born in salem massachusetts, I still vist MA a few times a year because my mom and dad both live up there. 2- I live with my amazing boyfriend of 2 years, Tony. We have 4 furkids. 2 cats and 2 dogs. 3- I'm a night owl! I never sleep.(at night at least) 4- I'm a dancer. I did ballet competition for years when I was younger. I love music and the dance floor, I feel like we just connect. 5- I practice agility with my german shepherd Apache 5 days a week. |

Love this thread  :sun: 5 Things About Me: First off I am a homemaker (with no skin kids) and recently discovered that I'm not digging it all that much. I have many aspirations that are still unfulfilled. I have many hobbies but most of all I'm an enthusiastic learner and like to apply my knowledge to perfect certain skills. I'm a dog lover to the very end! owned by both a yorkie and maltese. People tell me I look in my 20's but those days are gone :( You can usually find me in the fashion forum or off topic games when I'm not in a GE :p I also go emoticon happy in most threads :D;):) |
5 Things About Me: 1. I work in as a Product Brand Manager. Wonderful job, have been doing it for almost 30 years. Currently I work from home full time and travel for my job approximately 1 week a month. 2. I was born and raised in Michigan but now live in Georgia with stops in Kentucky and Texas along the way. 3. I have no skin kids, all my kid have fur. I like children and usually they like me but I just never felt the need to have children (try explaining that to people). 4. My hobbies are working out, reading and gardening. This is my first year of gardening in a plot (not a containers). So far I am enjoying it, but lets see in August when it is 200 degress in Georgia. 5. I am a very direct person but also a very quiet person (if that make sense). You be assured if I speak up on a subject I am going to tell exactly how I feel. I am also very tenacious, I never give up and I definetly "march to my own beat" (always have, never felt peer pressure or if I did I was not aware of it). |
Hello everybody! :) Hope you don't mind if a UK-er joins in? :D 1. I was born in the centre of London, we moved to 'the suburbs' when I was 8 when it got too busy! My heart lies in Cornwall though - lived there for 3 years in my late teens/early 20's. 2. I've 2 children - Simon (31) who lives in Vienna with his architect girlfriend. Simon is the IT consultant for the United Nations there. My daughter Anna is 28 and lives about 3 miles away from us - she's a Cost Draughtswoman for a company of solicitors. 3. I was married previously (to my children's father!! :)) we divorced in 1993 and I met Andy in 2000 - thank goodness! Andy is 12 or 13 years younger than me (depending on the time of year!!! ;)) :D 4. Took all my secretarial exams, but then qualified as a children's Nanny. Gave it all up about 18 months ago to care for my elderly parents...they're worth every moment. 5. We're saving to buy an elderly VW camper van which we'll restore to within an inch of it's life, take a year out (ONE day!!!) and tour wherever our hearts take us like a pair of ageing hippies (well, at least I will be tee hee! :D) Oh, and a boat, too....dream on, Sally.... Sally x |
This is a great thread! 1. I am almost 28 (already???) and I live in a small town in the prairies :) I have lived in Canada my whole life. 2. Growing up, I ALWAYS wanted to be a vet. When it came time to go to school, however, I went a different direction and I am now a civil designer for an engineering consultant, in the urban land development department. I design roads, piping, and lots for new residential subdivisions in my city and other towns and cities around the province. It's nerdy but I really enjoy it! I'm also glad I did not become a vet. I am way too soft-hearted and I don't think I could always go with an owner's wish to have an animal put down, when I know that it could recover or is still happy or whatever. Having a very happy paraplegic puppy myself, I cry when I read online about someone putting down their dog because it loses use of a limb :( 3. I am so emotional!! I don't know where it came from because I never used to cry, but lately it's all I do! I cry at happy things. I cry at sad things. I cry almost every night I watch tv. I just watched the season finale of Mike and Molly and I bawled when they got married. So did my fiance lol! 4. I am getting married in 7 weeks! My fiance and I have been together for over 3 years and we live in our dream house, a 1916-ish farmhouse which was previously all fixed up. Now we're getting married and eventually we'll fill it with kids :D I understand kids aren't for everyone, but they are for us! 5. I LOVE to travel. It is my passion. My fiance proposed last year in Capri, Italy, and we are going back there for our honeymoon :) We traveled together through Europe, and I have taken many trips around Canada and the US. We sometimes go somewhere warm like Mexico in the winter. Right now we're saving up for Australia and New Zealand! But no matter how much I travel, I always get homesick! I'm a small town prairie girl at heart. When I'm in a big city or the mountains, I yearn to be able to see miles and miles like I can at home! |
2 Attachment(s) Linz06- Best wishes on your upcoming wedding. Please post pictures for us to see! Ok- Let me give this a try. I am 53. I have 4 grown skin kids, three fur kids and two adorable grand children. I love being a Nana! I too love to travel. I've been blessed to be able to go to some pretty exotic locations, including a spit of an island in the middle of the South Pacific, where hubby and I were welcomed and entertained by the village chief and his tribe in his ceremonial hut. I've been an advanced certified scuba diver for the last 12 years. I love taking underwater photographs, hence the exotic locations. I regularly get the chance to swim with dolphins, sharks, rays, turtles and manatees. I am not afraid of sharks (except great whites, and we don't dive with them ). Below is a picture. I do interior design for model homes. It's fun to decorate fantasy homes for my imaginary families. They always like my work, they don't keep much in their closets, and boy, are they neat and tidy! Their home always looks like no one lives there. ;) I have one of the largest Fontanini nativity collections in the world. I've been a collector for 33 years, and every year my display grows and expands a little bit. It's very similar to a Christmas train garden in size and scale, except that it depicts all of Bethlehem town. There are thousands and thousands of miniature, doll house size pieces, and it takes a large construction crew, several days to assemble the display each year. The best part is that I've been able to share my passion with thousands of people each year. Below is a picture. |
