What book are you reading?
 
I just wanted to see what everyone else is reading. I'm an avid reader and would like to hear and get reviews on other books. :) I like all genres.

I am about to start on Ken Follets, World Without End. I just finished the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. ;)

I tend to go for non-fiction....but I really liked the book "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" I was left wanting more.....A fiction one I really enjoyed was "The Help". I felt the book was so much better than the movie.

I'm going to read "Rage to Survive: The Etta James Story" next.

I'm reading Out of Oz, the last book in the Wicked series by Gregory Maguire. I had read Wicked years ago and loved it, and finally just got the other three books. I just went through Son of a Witch, and A Lion Among Men. I am so excited to go back to Oz every night before bed and get more of the story lol!

This is a great idea for a thread :) I'm always looking for new books to read!

I'm anxiously awaiting the release of The City of Lost Souls next week. (It's the next book in the Mortal Instruments series). These books are some of the best I've ever read.

Some other good books I've read lately:
The Enclave (#1 in the Razorland series) and Divergent (#1 in that series too) --both dystopians, kind of like Hunger Games if you're into that

I actually have The Game of Thrones Series sitting on my shelf calling my name, but I have not had the time to throw myself into a series like that lately, so I'm waiting until I have more time to start those.

Previously, I only enjoyed Non-fiction... mostly autobiographies... but a family member shared Dean Koontz's "One Door Away From Heaven" last summer. I liked his writing style and fell into his "Odd Thomas" series... will be reading the fourth installment this summer.

I'm about 150 pages into Fifty Shades Darker right now. I've read the first one as well, and will probably read the third. I'm not quite understanding all the acclaim over these books. They are just ok.

I just bought my mom some new Mary Higgins Clark and Nora Roberts books for her birthday, and I am looking forward to borrowing them from her for some summer reading! :)

I am reading Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots. I'm not Jewish but I like reading books that are kinda like biography. I have read the Duggers first book, Kendra's first book, Bristol Palin's book, Kate Gosslin's first book and so on.

Right now, I'm reading 'Before I go to Sleep' ~ I'm just getting started. It's really interesting, about a woman who has amnesia - she retains some of her memory until she goes to sleep at night. When she wakes up every day - she doesn't remember her husband or where she is. I think it's going to turn out to be a mystery/thriller.

I also read "Before I go to sleep" - it is very good. One of my recent faves is "Defending Jacob". New York best seller for months. Just finished a Pat Brown (she's an FBI profiler) novel called, Only the Truth. It got 5 stars out of 5 on Amazon. I'm off to Amazon in a few minutes to get another kindle book.

I tend to read trash....I have to agree The Help was wonderful, far better than the movie.

Ive read almost all Dean Koontz books, been reading him for 20 years probably! I love his books, but his Odd Thomas series is not that good, those books to me, in comparison to others he wrote, are almost like he churned them out too fast, the style writing with the back & forth one word and hard to keep track of whose talking just kind of turned me off to him.

If you enjoy Dean Koontz though, here's a GREAT one! One of the best Ive ever read. Kind of makes you wonder if it could be real too, which makes it even more of a psychological thriller!

Although the Mortal Instrument series is YA, I love it too! I can't wait for the next book either. ;)

I love utopic style stories.

I watch the Game of Thrones series. I don't know if I could get into the books by now. lol

At first it took me awhile to see what the fuss was about. I did enjoy the books but realized that I liked it because the writing was different. Not your everyday "romance" style books.

Sounds almost like the movie "50 First Dates" lol and I love that movie. :D

Has anyone read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series from J.R. Ward? She is an awesome writer! I love all her characters.
Also for those of you who like the Twilight series, please read Jeaniene Frost's "Night Huntress" series. It is way better and it's an adult book. ;)

I just finished the 3rd book in The Game of Thrones. I really am enjoying them. I don't typically ready fantasy books, but the HBO series got me hooked.

I read pretty much every James Patterson book that he puts out and even started reading his collaborating authors books Andrew Gross most recently.

I just downloaded the Fifty shades trilogy haven't started it. Did you like them?

I seem to really like book series because everything I read seems to be in a series... lol

I read the Fifty Shades books, but honestly I don't see the rave reviews on them. I never thought that I would tire of sex....but they really ran it into the ground. I guess the characters grew on me because I did feel compelled to finish and see how their relationship ended up.

I just finished reading The Girl Who Played With Fire...I really enjoyed it...honestly thought it was better than The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I downloaded the Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest this morning.

Also enjoyed Hunger Games, but way too easy to read...finished the three books in a week.

I think that is what kept me reading on. I really wanted to see what kind of happy ending he would be getting.

But seriously go read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. :D

Oh and how Hunger games was for you the Twilight series was for me. I read all 4 books in 5 days. lol

I did the same with the Twilight series as well! :D

After I finish this series I am on I will look at the Black Dagger Brotherhood...never heard of it.

BTW does anyone know of a really good true crime story? I been itchin' to read one of those. The last one I read was Perfect Victim. (Girl in the box) I want to read something along those lines.

I was given 2 huge bags of "Romance" books. I never thought I would get tired of reading that genre. lol

I have been waiting for the latest paperback in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. I look forward to this every May when the new book is issued in hardcover, so the paperback is from last year's hardcover. I've been reading the whole series the last three years, and will miss them when the author ends them next year.:eek:

I just finished the 2nd in the Fifty Shades trilogy, and I was going to take a break to read something else, but they ended on a damn cliffhanger and I don't know if I am going to be able to wait to see what happens. :rolleyes:

The other two books I bought were Wedding Cake for Breakfast (which is humorous essays on the first year of marriage), and The Beck Diet Solution, which everyone says is a must-read in the diet world.

I just read it and it was awesome! I get so excited when I get them (I preorder through Amazon), but then I read them all in like a day! It's wonderful receiving each new book, but so disappointing when they're over!

I have my austic son reading to me....he loves to read, and has to read out loud or he can not remember what he has read...so he reads to the dogs at night, and I have him read to me....make it seem like I love to have books read to me (which I really do!!)...so now I have him reading the series, The Borrowers"....he is really enjoying the books and the story....and I enjoy listening to him read! At night, or when I am reading to myself, I am usually reading books on genetics and genome tagging for specific diseases that afflict our precious babies.....following GME research, as well as liver shunts and Legg-Perthes.....wish I could be actually doing hands on research in these fields...so interesting!
