ICK Factor and Alicia Silverstone Feeding Baby Spitting Into His Mouth Like Bird!!! Have you every seen anything like this? Heard about it on satellite news but can't find the You Tube video itself so hears just one of the many links on Google and Twitter. Don't tell Alicia Silverstone you're hungry | HLNtv.com Wish someone could help me and link to the actual video. They say she tells how she does this! Yikes!!! |
I'm so shocked, oh wow, that poor kid, how screwed will he be? I tried to find yout video so I could embed, but I'm not sure you can. In the meantime I found this one and couldn't agree more. |

They say somewhere on the net that on the original video she explains how to do it and says something about how her son will crawl across the floor to attack her mouth! The news shows have the direct video feed I guess and it looks and sounds so disgusting as to kind of turn your stomach!!! What does she do when she's got a terrible cold and cough? Wonder if she uses a spoon then? |

Native American Indians spent centuries chewing food for their babies in order for them to be able to eat. Of course this was long before "progress" and "technology" and "experts" came around to tell them how they lived was "Icky." I don't necessarily agree with or see the need for feeding this way in today's society, but I don't believe it harmed the psyche of hundreds of thousands of our ancestors over the ages either. The history books don't give any indication that the original inhabitants of America were "screwed" because they were fed this way. Just my way of saying - be careful judging what worked for an entire culture many of us are descended from. |

No doubt before cutlery was used in some form or fashion, people ate how they could and no doubt survived. Thankfully, we have moved on past that now and have less ickier ways of living in general. My mother told me that before they got a bathroom, as a child their family used an outhouse and make their own toilet paper. And the way females used to have to deal with monthly cycles just sounds undoable to someone like me. I can't believe how basic and raw and unsanitary life used to be and how wonderful it is now for the most part, aesthetically speaking. |
Hollywood freaks. |
it was done LONG ago, I would like to think that we have progressed since we had to chew the food for our children.. I think is YUCk.... hugs, |
I just don't think I could spit out food into my baby's mouth no matter how it used to be done in the past. I just couldn't do it. Wonder where she came up with the idea to do that and how she got past the ick factor herself? |
I got to admit it grosses me out when a mom spits on a hanky and wipes her child's check, I vowed to never do that to my kids, I think I screwed up a couple times. :D |

The video should show at the bottom of this article if it works out right. I saw this on facebook earlier & it's pretty bizarre. :/ Isn't that hindering his development in itself when he should be getting familiar with utensils & finger foods? Apparently she has no shame in it. Hmm. Watch Now: Alicia Silverstone Feeds Her Son…With Already Chewed Food Out of Her Mouth?! - E! Online |
And I wondered whether or not it would inhibit completely normal development of his digestive processes since her saliva has already done part of the work. Shouldn't his body be developing so that his saliva can do that? Yick! |

Huron Indians (last sentence of fourth paragraph - this is all I could find trying to google it quickly) Here are also discussions of the current practice of chewing for your children. This child is neither an infant nor a baby, he's a toddler, and he looks like he has plenty of teeth of his own. There are plenty of soft finger foods available; you don’t need a food processor. Furthermore, if a mother did chew it up, I'd prefer she put it down, and give it with her hands or utensil. Your article says nothing about the mouth to mouth feeding. Again, I'm not condemning cultures for doing this, there are cultures where many things are done that I think are wrong in a civilized society. I find it hard to believe that she thinks this is healthy for her child and I think it’s really seriously harmful for him. I wonder if she did this for publicity? As far as the Yahoo answers, they don't really support it either. If you think it's okay, that's your right, but I feel like you are telling me, I shouldn't judge what's she's doing, and I feel like it's okay for me to judge what she's doing. I really think she needs help, she needs to learn this child is NOT an extension of herself. |
I don't care how many people do it or did it, I'm not spitting chewed food into my child's mouth! |
That has to be the grossest things I have ever seen. I ask WHY??? Some people do bizarre things. You know what, don't even care why. Just cut that out!!! What the heck??? Wiping your kids cheek with a little "mom spit" is fine, but chewing food and spitting it into your kids mouth???? I will never understand people!!!! :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown |
I was listening to the radio yesterday and wish that I could remember the actor who was interviewed but he said that years ago they were seated together at an award show and her eating habits were.....odd. She did not use her silverware but instead used her FINGERS! WTHs up with that bizarre behavior. I could tell that he thought she was a kook. |
While it is culturally accaptable elsewhere, and it might have served a purpose at some point in human history, why do it now? She lives here, among the people that don't follow that custom, and where we're having a serious bullying problem in schools, does she not realize that? Even if she chose to do this, why on earth would you film it and put it on the web? The poor kid.... His name is bear and his mom feeds him like a bird. He is going to be teased and bullied! Bear, really? That was Kaji's name before he came home. |

I saw the Alicia thing yesterday, and it did ick me out a little. Later yesterday, there was a pic of her walking down the street, breastfeeding her baby while walking. Not that anything is wrong w/ breastfeeding, but walking and breastfeeding? Sounds like it would kinda hurt! |

She is so strange!! Does anyone remember her a few years ago on Oprah discussing her vegan diet and bowel movements? Alicia Silverstone and Oprah discuss vegan bowel movements | This Dish Is Veg - Vegan, Animal Rights, Eco-friendly News |
Oh, boy, after the bird-feeding vid, I'm afraid to link on the above link about the BM's!!! I think for now I'll forego that one and wait until someone else has seen it. I don't know if my tummy can handle anything else icky - it's kind of upside down today! :):):) |

Yeah, the chewing food and spitting it in her child's mouth is pretty gross for me. Hmmmmm, wonder if she would do the same for a puppy with it's dog food? |
Oh, dear, probably would! You know how sometimes you see a caregiver feeding someone who is very sick and the caregiver will spoon food carefully into their mouth to get them to eat? I'd hate to be really sick around this lady! :( |
That\'s just too much for this guy lol. |
