Pond pictures thread

Someone asked me for some pictures of my pond so I have put an album with some selected pictures on here. There are pond, koi, waterfall, stream.and winter pictures. Ignore the pond liner you will see there will eventually be rocks and pavers there it is still a work in progress.

Love the pond, would like to have one myself but my HOA does not allow.

I hope you post some pictures of it this summer also.

Should also note I love the Yorkie who appears to be ready to pounce in the pond in one picture.

I love your pond looking forward to the finished product :)

Your pond is lovely! I wish I had the talent & creativity to do something like that. I can't wait to see the final pics!

jadabug 03-08-2012 06:13 AM

Oh my that is gorgeous already and I can't wait to see it completely finished. Am I right, I think I read that your DH and you did all the work? That is no small task!!! It is going to be simply breathtaking:)

My Husband and a couple of neighborhood guys put all the rocks in. I helped him landscape. Im excited I saw 5 of my koi today so Ive seen 8 total so far

Wylie's Mom 03-08-2012 06:49 AM

Holy moly - that is stunning! With the waterfall and other water features, does it make a trickling sound? I find the sound of water so soothing. It is seriously so cool - I love it.

BonBon 03-08-2012 07:08 AM

That isn't just a pond, that's an oasis. I could actually feel myself relaxing just looking at the pictures. That is really beautiful!

Harrysmum 03-08-2012 08:01 AM

Yes, it is beautiful - in fact it's stunning....so relaxing :) Loved the night-time pictures too, with all the beautiful lights. Absolutely gorgeous (if ever you're in our area...;) :D!!) Sally x

Thank you it is relaxing. I think my Husband did a wonderful job with the waterfalls with the little island. He is really a creative person that is very detail oriented. I would have never thought to do it that way

Nancy1999 03-08-2012 08:31 AM

Oh wow, it's really gorgeous, I love all your plants and your waterfall. Is that your daughter in the goggles? She's really grown up! Those rocks are huge, what a job that must have been. You and your husband are very creative, I guess all those trips to Disneyland paid off, you look like you get work there designing things!

lovespandp 03-08-2012 08:36 AM

Thank you the picture of Chachi on the little couch is a picture inside of our gazebo that is where we hang out when the weather is nicer. We would like to enclose that someday and make it a sunroom so we could enjoy that room year round,

Ya that would be nice, is the gazebo close to your pond? DH and I have NO idea what we are going to do with our backyard! It is a mess- We are backed up on a hill and we have one of those wonderful hillsides, then we have a little part on the bottom with half grass half cement. I would love to have a nice pool with a slide and waterfall, but we don't have that kind of money! I don't think I can talk DH into a pond- Seems like a lot of work haha.

It is alot of work but its not a tremendous amount of money if you do it alot. We did it gradually one month we bought the pump and skimmer. Then next month the liner then the next month the rocks then the next month we rented a back hoe to put the big rocks in and hired a couple of neighborhood guys to help. It drove us a little nuts to do it that way because we just wanted it done but now we can look back and appreciate doing it that way because it didnt break the bank. If your yard is hillside it is the perfect place for a waterfall. Someone in my neighborhood has a hillside front yard and they put in a pondless waterfall and it is gorgeous and it adds alot of value to their house because it has curb side value to it

Ya we need to figure out something- We want to do something like the pics, have layers on the hillside with steps going up. One layer will have grass and plants flowers and then the top layer will be a patio type where we can sit up there and enjoy the view!! So this is what we are kinda thinking, but we have a ways to get to the backyard LOL.

Our hillside is pretty steep, it is more like the 2nd pic. It backs up to the hills behind it too, we dont have anyone living in back of us.

Oh that is pretty I love both pictures. Hillside yards are neat because you can make them very unusual with landscaping

rubymoon2072 03-08-2012 09:31 AM

beautiful.

The is one big pond especially with a yorkie as a size reference point especially if you can scuba in it. How big is it? It looks beautiful.

Its 6000 gallons. That is my daughter swiming in it. Its like a pool to her she swims in it and wades through it. The fish are even starting to get used to her doing it and will stay visable even though shes in it. We saw a cool picture of someone in their pond and the koi were surrounding him. I hope mine become that tame someday. For now I will be thrilled when they become so tame you can hand feed them

Love your pond!! We had one up until just a couple of years ago, always loved listening the water running. I had some koi that were around 2ft long and became very friendly. Unfortunatly my heater stopped working one winter and they did not make it. Beautiful fish and they can live for years.
Your pond is beautiful!!

DBlain 06-17-2013 10:06 AM

oh my, just seeing this thread for the first time. AMAZING, LOL if I did not see your yorkies in the photos, I would think you were teasing us and took this from a pond magazine:cool: How talented you two are to put this all together, a lot of people could build a pond, but very few non professionals could design one like you did. if you have not already done it you should submit this to some magazines and contests. It's really breathtaking, I bet you enjoy it even more knowing that you guys did this yourselves:thumbup:

The only think I could think of suggesting, is
