| ![]() Just as a heads up to anyone that has a cell phone. If you receive a call on your cell phone saying they are from your wireless provider, if you answer their brief survey you will get $ (20.00) off your next wireless bill, hang up on them, it's a scam. I just received such a call, knowing better not to give out information, at the end of the typical questions that wireless surveys ask, I was asked in order to verify I was the account holder to give him my pass word, I gave him a phoney one just to see if he would say that was NOT correct, he says, "let me check" then says YES that is correct lol dumb $%%#^, then he asked to verify I am the named person on the acct. to give him my zip code, again I gave him a NY zip code (I live in Pa.) he checks and says yes that is correct, then asks to verify I am who I say I am to give him the last 4 digits of my SSI #, again gave him made up numbers, again he says correct. I hang up, call cust. svce. ask do they have ppl offer $ off their next bill to answer survey, I am told NO it is a scam. so family YT members, if you get such a call, HANG UP. You do not have to have Verizon as your provider, I called my friends and family to advise them, they have received similar calls from providers other then Verizon.

| ![]() Completely unrelated to Verizon, but I was chatting with an Amazon agent online and I asked about the free Prime trial, and then for some reason he wanted to know my username and password. I asked why he needed it, couldn't he just see it in his system and check for me since I was logged in, and he never replied back (I waited 30 minutes after that). It was VERY odd. I then started another chat with another Amazon agent and she never asked me for my account information or whatever. Possible scam...?

As for the scam... I just make it a point not to answer any calls that from a number I don't recognize. If they REALLY need to reach me, they'll leave me a vmail. If it's legit, I call them right back. ![]() Oh, and with some telemarketers, they won't say anything until you say hello twice. Example would be that if phone rings, I answer and say "hello?" no response, then I say "hello?" again. That's when the telemarket comes on. I think it's their way of screening answering machines. | |
