I get my batteries from litecigusa.net. You don't really have to buy the kits they sell unless you feel like it but it's cheaper to buy things separate. Here is the list of things I get. Battery: There is an extended battery but even the regular lives a day and half or so. Extended: Joye ego MEGA Manual Switch Battery Regular: Joye ego Manual Switch Battery Chargers: You can hook it to your computer or buy the AC adapter too. USB Charger: Joye ego USB Charger USB to AC: AC Wall to USB Adaptor Cartomizer: This has the atomizer and cartridge all in one. I love these things. This is where you put the liquid. I like to buy the blank ones. A catomizer lasts me about 2 weeks. I refill it about 2 times or more a day. Blank Cartomizer for Ego. These are empty cartridges you can refill: 510 SLB SOFT CAP Blank Cartomizers Prefilled Cartomizer in case you're lazy and don't mind wasting money: 510 Cartomizers | 510 Cartridge Pack | Cartomizer 510 - Electronic Cigarette Refill Cartridges They have a syringe for refilling cartomizers but I just poke the bottle tip in the end and fill it: 5 ml eliquid syringe Liquids: I prefer to get my liquids from Tasty Vapor. Welcome to Tasty Vapor They sell a whole bunch of flavors. You can pick the strength of the nicotine and the balance of PG/VG. VG is vegetable based so it's good to use that in your mixture. The site explains a lot about this. And finally, a great forum post (and forum) talking all about e-cigs. The Wonderful World of Vaping: An Illustrated Guide to E-cigs (Part 1 of 6) Hope that helps! :) |
Oh and both litecig and tasty vapor are US based companies. Tasty Vapor is a great business and is growing like mad. They take great pride in making their liquids. Bottle of liquid lasts me a couple months. |

You know you can ask any of us, anytime, and we'll do all we can to help. Anything, basically, has to be better than 'the dreaded weed'. You know I swear by my Intellicig's - but of course (for your availability sake!) it will probably be easier for you to settle on a US brand? If there's anything I can do from 'over here' - you only have to shout :) Sally x |
I have been using one for a couple years now. I use a VaporKing from Vapor4life.com they are based out of Chicago. I get my juices from them and from the company that Beece suggested “Tasty Vapor”. Their juices are great!! Also the forum link she gave you is probably the best place to learn all about e-cigs. Good luck!!:) |
Anytime. I feel inside that everyone I send info about ecigs is another life saved. As for the suggestion on US based companies? Reason I suggest this is because some people run into customs issues with ecigs. That's about the only reason :) oh and it does come a little quicker too. Good luck to your DH! |
546 days without a cigarette! Piece of cake with my Joye Ego ecigarettes. I knew within 5 minutes I could do this! Haven't looked back. Doctors are thrilled! I am thrilled! Pat myself on the back every day as I was a very heavy smoker. I started with 18 mg nic juice, and have gradually lowered it down to 3 mg nic. My next step down is 0 mg. From there, I don't care if I ever quit the ecigarette, and have informed my Dr that he is not to get in my face if I stay on the 0 mg forever. lol! Under my desk on a shelf is a full pack of cigs an open pack with 2 remaining cigs that have been there since I first got my Joye Ego. I have to laugh when I happen to see them, as I've never been tempted to use them. I have always promised myself that I would light one up just to see if I have the same repulsive response to a real cig that most people have. It just never occurs to me. beecee has given you some good advice with her links. I hung out at New Members Forum for quite some time reading & learning. It can be quite confusing in the beginning, and there is a learning curve, but in reality... it's actually easier than it sounds at first. People there are very friendly & helpful. Good Luck if you decide to use them!!! I'm doin' the happy dance!!! :D:D:D |

546 days! Awesome :D I love that I can use my ecig everywhere I go and even smoke at my desk at work. We aren't supposed to but they don't know since I hide it. My teammates and boss all know I use it at my desk but they don't care, it's the other groups in the building that caused a stink when a few other guys started walking around the floor smoking it and blowing it all over. Hah. I have used it just about anywhere I've gone. Very good for me and I don't smell like smoke anymore and can actually taste my food and my skin looks a lot better! I smoked for 25 years prior to ecig. |

Now that's not good! Thanks for posting the article. |
Well, a lot of people use "modded" ecigs that people make out of their home or are sold from some ecig companies and require you to purchase the same high voltage rechargeable batteries used in flashlights. In the article it states he was using one with a rechargeable lithium. From experience and from other peoples stories this is usually caused when the user buys a certain type of battery they are NOT supposed to use. It's bad enough they are using a super high voltage battery that overloads the atomizer and switch. The battery will build up pressure and burst because it wasn't meant to be recharged or used like that. Bottom line, don't get one that you have to get your own high voltage battery (like rechargeable ones at the store). This is really the fault of the user for not buying the correct brand and model of battery. I used a mod for a long time but I didn't like dealing with those high voltage batteries. Check the forum post I linked to earlier and poke around. You'll find more info. Always research :) |
JUST saw on TV news about a man whose electronic cigarette blew up in his mouth...took out his teeth and part of his tongue.....something about the battery malfunctioned..... |
Yah...read my previous post ;) |

Yup for sure. Any product in this world has something that may go wrong, even more when someone modifies that product or uses it incorrectly. Pintos would blow up when hit, but we still drive cars. Lighters sometimes blow up but we still use them. Tylenol was poisoned a long time ago but we still use it. Groomers cause damage sometimes to dogs but we still use em :) I can go on, I almost did, hah. Don't get me wrong, the best way to get rid of your addiction to nicotine is to cold turkey it and never allow it in your life again but, that hasn't worked for many. I'm glad these things are here. |
I just saw this thread. My last "analog" cigarette was January 10, 2009. I've been smoking e-cigarettes for three years and I've never looked back. It is wonderful. I've always told people, you still really want to quit. My sister in law ended up in the hospital in ICU with COPD. The doctors told her that she could never smoke again. My brother (also a smoker) knew about my e-cigarettes and ask the dr about using them. They were all for it. Both of them have been using them for two years. Later that year, my sister and her husband started using them also. My mother passed away in May of 2010 and she told me the night before she died that she never thought that she would live to see all of her kids off of cigarettes. I believe in them. As far as the explosion goes, it will take time to find out what kind of cigarette/mod was being used. If you use a modified cigarette (I do) you have to be very careful with what kind of batteries you use and if they are protected or not. If you buy batteries from the store that aren't properly rated for the device you can get in real trouble. Some of the mods actually stack batteries and this really multiplies the chances of a problem. The one I use only uses one battery. I also buy my batteries and charger from the e-cigarette supplier. I use "Puresmoker" products. They are based out of Nashville, TN and all their products including the nicotine liquid are made in the US. The "juice" is a mix of Glycerine, nicotine, and flavoring. Their website is Buy Electronic Cigarettes Online - USA Electronic Cigarettes, E Cigarette Kits, Cartridges, eLiquid <meta name="google-site-verification" content="SSgkbLlwlWuvKWeOXbuDTrw3Oy29md2PvsfFoD7ul uQ" /> Also, for anyone considering this, I recommend this website. E-Cigarette Forum This is a website for all things e-cigarette. Their's a wealth of information to be had there as well as a long list of on-line suppliers. Karen |

Wow, I am getting some very good information from everyone that I can pass on to my husband. He is going to sit down this weekend and read this thread. Thanks to everyone who has replied so positively. It will encourage my husband to quit smoking. I'm so glad many of you have quit smoking and have found something you can rely on to keep you cigarette free. Good luck to those of you who are trying. My husband is in the same boat. |
After reading this, I haven't had a "real" cigarette in almost 36 hours. I bought the TruBlu as a trial and I haven't missed a real one. These are disposable, so in the meantime I bought NJoy @ walgreens with a pack of replacement cartridges. So far....these are NOT saving me money, but I don't smell like smoke and I can stay inside *out of the rain! This is something that I could get used to. There are several different brands mentioned, and I know the expense is in the initial purchase. How much do you as a pack a day smoker spend on ecigs compared to regular? I spend about $160 a month and I don't smoke premium. So far I am loving these and want to explore options for long term. :) |
Woooo hoooo! Well done you! :D I'll go into proper costings for you and check back tomorrow - relatively speaking from 'over here'. ....so glad you're happy with it so far.... :) Sally x |
I'm not liking the nJoy. No vapor and little flavor. I liked the disposable blu better. :( |

I never smoke inside because my son is a swimmer who also has a mild touch of asthma ~ so I don't want to be blowing this if it is like smoke. Guess I better read up on it! |

It really is just vapour. The way to think about it is, it's like boiling a kettle! TRUE :) The atomiser (the arched metal-y bit that you put the cartridge onto) is the bit that heats up, which creates the steam - that's all there really is to it. The nicotine content goes inside your mouth - all that comes out of your mouth is vapour. I think the more you read, the safer you'll feel - for both you and your son ;) Sally x |
I just ordered a Janty eGo starter kit and two bottles of eLiquid. Not terrible, $102.00 including shipping. I guess I can add accessories as I need them, can you refill the cartridges that come with it? How many times? Sorry, but this is new to me and want to have everything I need. Using the NJoy, I've had 4 cigarettes since Friday. These produce very little "vapor" and it's not the same as the disposable ones I first tried. |
I also found a 5% off coupon code if anyone else wants to order/reorder. ECF-JANTYUSA |

Funnily enough, I was just checking prices for you, for the brand that I use. Please don't forget it's 'over here' but they have a $US conversion box at the top. It's www.intellicig.com just in case you want to have a look, and to compare what's available. Their starter kits are $71.46, and that includes the basics + 25 refills +USB charger. The eco-pure top up liquid 30 ml size is $23.82. I personally top up these refill cartridges, just a few drops a time. I only change my refill cartridge once a week. The 30 ml top-up liquid lasts me approx. a month. I really hope this helps, and that you manage to stick to it...!!! :D Sally x |
Beecee, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong with the eGo? I feel like I'm constantly having to add drops of eliquid to get vapor. I got a kit that included 5 "prefilled" cartridges but the instructions say how to fill one (these do not open). I get no flavor from those at all. I've ordered some of the refillables but I don't have them yet. I've watched dozens of you-tube videos that say add 2 drops directly onto the atomizer and 1 to the bottom of the cartridge but it doesnt go inside, it just sits there. :( I like these alot when I can get them to work and I'm 100% sure it's operator error! I've read the forum you guys linked to for suggestions but I'm truly a novice at this and I don't understand the lingo they use. :( I'm frustrated. Thank you for any help. :) |
Well, sounds like you're not putting enough in. Sounds like you have the one where the atomizer is seperate from the cartridge. The cartridge should have some sort of cotton like material inside and you can squeeze a whole lot into that stuff by sticking the tip of the juice bottle right into it and squeeze real hard to soak it. You don't have to put any on the atomizer, that dries up real quick and they probably say to do that on your initial use (prime) After you soak the material you'll want to be careful because at first you'll get some in your mouth since it will be real wet. Keep a tissue handy and don't swallow, lol. It is a horrible taste and feeling. I'm not sure what liquid you got but some of the DK liquids aren't too flavorful like you would think. The tasty vapor stuff is very flavorful. Plus, the more VG the more vapor (it's a vegetable base so it's thicker). If you're not getting smoke at all you'll want to see if the atomizer is lighting at all by taking off the cart and pushing the button. You should see the atomizer get hot and make noise. Don't do it too long or you'll burn it out :) |
This is what is says in the instructions for "Refilling the Liquid": In other versions of the Janty eGo, a fine tissue is used to hold the liquid in the cartridge. The Janty eGo tank system uses a different system. Just open the cap, drip the liquid into the cartridge and close the cap. I wonder why they didn't include that type of cartridge with the system instead of the prefilled that won't open? I don't understand that. With this one there is no tissue, I've seen that on youtube and it makes sense. This one doesn't open or anything. Just a tiny hole in the top. Dripping liquid into that it leaks out from the bottom. I got the RY4 and tobacco mint. I don't like the RY4, that's what the prefilled came with. |
