I love my ipad, but I think I would also like to have a kindle fire. :D |
I do not own a tablet myself. But I did just spend a few weeks in Alabama with my Mom. She has an I Pad and I had the chance to use it. I really liked her I Pad. It was so easy to use and I liked all the features it had. I used it to browse online several times and enjoyed it. I tried to lay hers down to 'type' on like I do my laptop, but it was just too weird for me. So I just used my index finger to type a word into the search box or type in a url. I think they are great for on the go, but if I am at home, I'd rather use my laptop. But if I had the chance to get one, you bet I would! They are so easy to transport, lightweight. I loved her I pad! |
Meant to add - my dad actually kind of set his up like a computer. He does a lot of work for it and got a wireless keyboard and a little stand and stuff and it looks like a little computer, hehe. Very cute and useful. |
Thanks everyone! I am thinking IPad for sure! |
yes, it has to be AirPrint. There are only certain printers that are enabled for it. We have an HP 6500 all in one at home and the HP 8500 all in one at our office. Both are iPhone/iPad print enabled. When you look at iPad from apple.com, there's info on the printers that are currently enabled, and they add more all the time. I also got this nifty little thing that plugs into the bottom and I can plug my camera card into it and upload my photos from my camera. I love it! It was only 20.00. Quote:

I'm sure one day, it will be as I want it lol. I'm using all my wishes!! We have been using Logmein for remote access, but if my computer updates at my office, it restarts itself and Logmein won't automatically restart without entering the password, so I can't access it. I have to remember if I'm going to be gone a few days to turn off the automatic updates. I unfortunately learned this the hard way lol. |
I love my IPad 2, this is my second one (had the original IPad, sold it when I won the IPad 2 from work). I use my IPad a lot when I travel a lot, it keeps me updated on things at home (web access, home email, bill pay). I find myself using it more and more for things outside of the typical laptop replacement mindset. I use dropbox a lot and have access to all my recipes on my IPad (helps a lot when I am cooking downstairs and my laptop is upstairs). I read on the Kindle application, use at GPS application and to do lists. I have not had a problem with the non support of Flash, most of the sites I use supports HTML5. I work in Product Management in the Technolody market, I am an Apple user (so are a lot of my co-workers). We were sent an internal bulletin with the following URL from Adobe on the future of Flash and Mobile devices Flash to Focus on PC Browsing and Mobile Apps; Adobe to More Aggressively Contribute to HTML5 (Adobe Featured Blogs) My suggestion is look for the tablet that best fits your needs with software and hardware form factor. |
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my ipad! (and iphone) |

I got an IPad last year in March. I liked it so much I upgraded to the IPad 2. My husband got my "old" one. We love them and use them everyday. |
Love my ipad 2! |
iPad 3 out in Febuary!!! |
I know this is a very basic question; but what is "Flash" Not really sure; is it something to do with videos? Hubby has an IPAD2 I just bought him for Xmas; he has not been off the darn thing.lol Is there a problem with getting the Ipad to print? We have an HP 6100 |
Flash is a platform (aka program type thing) which enables animation, videos and interactivity (and a lot of time games). Good example is when you go to a website and on the splash page there appears to be a movie or presentation - that is usually either Flash or HTML5. Flash has many good features and is used a lot but the problem is it is HUGE and usually the something running is Flash is rather large. This is a problem int he mobile space where memory is a premium. The problem with HTML5, in my opinion is that is it not as feature rich there for it some what limits what you can do with the development. I know there is probably someone on YT who is far more technical and can explain it far better but I hope this helps. I will add I have had an IPad since their introduction and I cannot remember the last time I had a problem with using it because of lack of Flash. In the beginning yes but I think there is more and more migration to HTML 5. |
I have been doing research reading /watching reviews and tutorials on the Ipad, kindle fire and nook...I played with a friends Kindle Fire the other night!!! I WANT ONE!! The research I did on all three of them was....Ipad bigger screen, more memory camera, and longer battery. Kindle fire and nook, were pretty much the same...however the kindle fire was the better choice. And...a heck of alot cheaper than the Ipad...depends on what you want it for... |

If I am outside and I have my sunglasses on, I cannot see my iPad2 screen at ALL. The first time I tried it, I thought it was broken. My sunglasses have polarized lenses, which make the problem worse. It does bother me sometimes when I try to read in the park, but if I turn the screen brightness all the way up and take off my sunglasses, then it more or less works. |
I just ordered a refurbed iPad2. My BIL told me to wait for the 3 because the prices on the 2's are rumored to be going way down. But I have a somewhat urgent need for one now (just fits a current need for me). If it's more for fun and not so important to get one right this minute, I'd be waiting a month or two. The refurbs are $80-$100 cheaper from the Apple site and come with a warranty. Not a bad way to go.. Hoping it's as good as most people think it is. :) |
My son got the Ipad2 for Christmas (he's 18) and he loves it. It was $499 and I got it on a door buster I think for $450, but I just read that the new Ipad will be coming out in a couple of months and they expect that this one will go down to as low as $299. I would wait it out and see if what happens. Also, you don't want to buy the newest one out because they always have clitches with them. Ipad 2 thus far my son said has been great. I have also heard that the Galaxy is nice and if you want to really go cheap but have a fairly good one, they have one at Costco for $189 originally $499. I forget the brand but I think it may also be Samsung. |
What is the IPad3 going to have the IPad2 doesn't? |

I just bought a tablet this weekend because I love my future father in law's tablet! I got the same one, an Asus Eee Pad Transformer. It comes with docking keyboard so you can use it as a tablet, or hook it up to the keyboard for easier typing. A bonus is when it's hooked up to the keyboard there's an extra 8 hours of battery life. So you get 8 hours on the tablet, or 16 hours when it's attached. When you have the keyboard too it folds up like a laptop and there is no need for a case. I have never used an iPad but I freaking love my Asus! My future FIL is an electronics guy and he does his research, so I just went on his word lol. I got it at Walmart for $489 CAD, but these things are always cheaper in the US. It has a 10.1" screen, two cameras, and seems to do everything I want it to do (skype, internet, games!). I do have a Sony e-reader I just got for Christmas which I will continue to use for reading. I sit in front of a computer all day at work and reading on bright screens for too long really bothers my eyes! |
