ya i don't like big sexy hair products either, some products that work for some don't work for others,i'm obsessed with redken though lol so i'm biased. i thought you meant you had naturally curly hair but working with a perm can be different.are they using a perm strong enough for your hair, at my salon they carry one for fine, one for normal and one for more resistant hair..i know alot of salons only carry one for normal and use it on everyone regardless of thier hair. Make sure you aren't using products with too much silicone..they will weigh your hair down and prevent you from getting the volume and curl that you want...pantenes bad for that.I actually did a similar hair cut as your photo the other day only i cut her bangs not as high it was right above her eyebrows instead, and i gave her black and red highlighs, it looked awsome, i love blunt bangs!:)nice choice!!:) i have yet to try it myself or on a client but another hairdresser i know loves this stuff, she said you can get some pretty good hair volume with it its call Schwarzkopf OSiS Dust It - Mattifying Powder, also backcombing your hair will help you get volume, you take a small section if our hair, backcomb it with a comb to the root, then the trick is you apply a hair straightener over that to set it, apply in the motion you would crimp hair, that should give you longer lasting volume,hope this helps:)
