From what I have read lately, they are saying that 8 glasses of water a day should include all of the water content from the food you eat all day too. Much of our food is water -- so we don't need to drink near the 8 glasses of pure water a day that was and often still is recommended. If you are not showing signs of being dehydrated, then you are getting enough water. Here is a good article to read: How Much Water Should You Drink in a Day - Keys to Staying Hydrated - RealAge It even says: "Contrary to popular belief, there is no evidence to suggest that staying hydrated hinges on drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day. And relying on the eight-glass rule may not be enough to avoid dehydration in certain circumstances." So it all depends on what your particular body needs. We all have different requirements because we have different activity levels. |
This is something I have always struggled with. I find I drink more water if I mix some Crystal light in with it. We now have a pitcher of Crystal light in the fridge at all times to encourage us to drink water. I find water boring... so I drink tea, coffee and diet soda a lot. I try to get in at least 2 glasses of water a day, but I'm not always successful... |
In the summer, I will drink a lot of water- bottled only, water out of a tap grosses me out. Otherwise I don't drink a lot- I drink unsweetened ice tea and seltzer mostly. Overall, I probably don't drink enough of anything- I usually have a cup of coffee in the morning and don't drink anything again until dinner. |
I only drink water ( at least a gallon a day) or more. I drink no soft drinks, tea or coffee. |
So... Do those of you who drink a lot of water see any benefits? What are us dehydrated people missing out on? To those of you who drink coffee and tea (like meeeee!) I heard that if something has caffeine in it you aren't really benefiting from the water in it because caffeine makes you dehydrated??? I don't know how true that is. Haha |
I don't drink enough water, but to encourage myself to drink more i squeeze half an orange, grapefruit, lemon or lime into the water ~ i ALWAYS finish at least 2 large glasses this way  |

I only drink water, too. Very rarely a cup of herbal tea. I drink well over a gallon a day, and I do feel better. Sometimes with a squeeze of lemon. I think it helps my skin, hair, digestion, sleep...everything. I have a reverse osmosis system so it's not "tap". I used to be a Diet Coke and then Coke addict. I feel so much better without it, but so many people seem to be able to drink it. |
Depends on the day...sometimes I drink 4 to 6 glasses a day and then other days almost none....guess it depends on whether I am in a diet soda mood or not, but it's either water or caffeine free diet coke if I need the bubbles! |
I dont probably drink enough water but my moms doctor after some tests told her she was drinking to much water :eek:who knew you could drink to much water lol |
I love the suggestions of putting fruit in water. YUM! Going to have some green tea now... helps with metabolism, or so I hear... haha |
I used to hate to drink water. I liked some of the bottled water but was not wanting to pay for it. I would drink Pops and Coffee. Then I started my new job this past May and they are a plastics company. Well they get free absopure water and my boss told me we can drink as much as we want. I had never really liked absopure water because to me it tasted just like our tap water. but they also have steam distilled so I tried that and I got hooked I started drinking 4 to 5 - 16oz bottles a day 2 or 3 during work and 1 on the way to work and 1 on the way home. Well since may I have lost 40 pounds and I feel alot better. |
