IPhone vs Droid vs ?: opinions please Which mobile phone do you like most and why? (I know this has been asked before, but things change rapidly :)) My needs are simple: phone calls and navigation. I currently have AT&T, but I would be willing to change. |
I have the iphone love it But i also have the ipad2 so they work together very well. All I really do is watch yt fb and play a few games. Lots of great apps for me and my grand daughter. (who is 3) she can run it as well as me. And lots of learning games. The only thing you can not do is watch flash video's Which has not been any big deal for me. You can watch netflix on it and most others just not the flash ones. We use Verizon just because it works well with my dh's trucking. I do not know much about the droid. Oh yes and i use mine to geo cache. |
I have to agree. The Iphone is awesome. I have Verizon, but have had AT&T before. I love how useful it is. I can take pictures, video, watch movies, and surf the web. Plus my school has an App on the Iphone so I can check my grades and assignments :) |
I like droid better it has as many apps as the iphone if not more. I also prefer verizon because they have the best service around here where I live. My dad also has the droid and loves it as well and does a lot on his phone like anything you could imagine lol |
I adore my iPhone and I always have. I've messed around with a few Droids, and I'm not a huge fan. iPhone just makes more sense to me, and seems more user-friendly. :) |
I have a Droid and I love it!! Verizon I think its the best as for as service. I honestly don't know what you can do on the Iphone, that you cant do on the Droid. |
Good question. I don't have either one at the moment and it's something I was asking myself as well. So I'll be watching this thread carefully. As I'll be changing my phone (not intelligent) after the new year. It'll help me to make up my mind. LOL |
I have an Iphone and LOVE it. I'm a 60 year old grandmother who can get very confused on how electronic gadgets work. I have no problems with the Iphone, it's so easy to use. |
I've had the iphone since it came out, and although I don't have theh 4S (yet) I love my phone. |
I just got an early Christmas gift this week, an iphone! I looooove it. :) |
I reccomend any of the Samsung Galaxy phones. I chronically blow through phones ( I work for Sprint.. and I can get a good cost on them) but for the past year and a half I've stuck with my Samsung Galaxy S. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is now out and as soon as my phone dies (if it ever does :P) I'll be moving to that one. It's an Android phone, so it has all of the android market apps and features. It also has a keyboard.. a MUST for me. They make the Galaxy phones for many carriers, so just pick your carrier based upon coverage and cost that suits you, and then look at phones. Go to the store and play with them, see which layout feels like the best fit for you. I would definitely go with an android platform phone or an iphone though, they can do so much. I would not go with a blackberry or a windows phone personally, but that's just me. |
I like the iphone. It's very user friendly in a way that just makes sense. The droid you seem to have to know how to navigate around. But when comparing iphone to droid...it depends what droid. The iphone is the iphone while the droid can be any number of phones by different manufacturers ie: motorola, samsung, etc. I think you need to know what you're comparing to make an informed choice. For me talking, texting, taking pics, music and just a few apps are my main things. The iphone works best for this for me. My son, an engineering student, prefers the droid. He likes the bigger screen, graphics, ability to stack apps, it's lighter weight and faster download times. |
I have had the iPhone since it came out and currently have the 4 (DH has the 4S) and we both absolutely love our phones. I just wish they had better cameras, but other than that... I have no complaints :) |

Thank you everyone for your input. I am an Apple fan, so that coupled with responses here, have me leaning toward the IPhone. My current service AT&T has them on sale 50% off, woohoo! 16 or 32GB? I wouldn't use it for playing games or a whole lot of texting. Pictures I would offload to my computer. |

I timed out on editing... In my above post I was referring to the fact that the 8 megapixel camera & 1080p video on the iphone 4s make for alot bigger files than it did on the iphone 4. |
Get an Iphone you will love it it is so easy to use and Im not a tech type of person and I have no trouble using it |

I think the camera is pretty good (definitely more than decent!). The only thing I dislike about the camera is the flash - I don't like the way it makes the photos look! I keep the flash permanently off and turn on a light if I'm inside. :) |

My husband and I have androids, both are Samsungs. Mine is a Samsung Galaxy S and I can't remember off the top of my head which Samsung model my husband has. We both like our phones very much. A couple of months ago there were announcements that Samsung passed Apple in smartphone shipments. I don't know if that is still the case or not but there is good reason Samsung has been doing so well. That being said, all four of my grown children have iphones and they are happy with their phones as well. I think there are pros and cons to either choice and it kind of depends on your personal tastes and how you use your phone. If you are just a basic user who doesn't really do a lot of internet stuff or downloading etc. then I'm sure either type of phone would work well for you. If you decide to take a look at adroid phones I would not put all android phones in the same catagory. I know Samsung has done very well, but do not know about the other android phones. Good luck in your search for a new phone. |

If you're an Apple fan , definitely go with an iPhone. Quote:
"Droid" is a Motorola phone, "Android" is a platform/OS made by google. |
I just got a Samsung 4G phone a few weeks ago (T mobile) switching from a flip phone. I'm not too savvy with these things and I got used to it in a matter of days. I'm very happy with it. Good luck with your choice! |

Yep, exactly like that :P "Droid" is a phone (actually now it's a line of phones.. they have made a few) made by Motorola that has the Android operating system. Android is an operating system for cell phones and tablets that is owned by Google. For instance, my Samsung Galaxy S is an Android device, but it isn't the Droid. People do it a lot, and its totally normal, I was only clarifying because I felt it was better to do so in case she went to a store and asked for a Droid.. not knowing that there were several android devices available (Imo the samsungs are the best) |
I have AT&T and the Samsung Galaxy S2 and love it! Absolutely fantastic. I use the free Google navigation program and it works very well. |
I Just got the Droid Razr last weekend. I love it! I was upgrading from another Android phone though so I'm used to the platform. My husband has an iPhone 4 - not s. It's nice but to me not as intuitive. I'm sure it's whatever you are used to. Besides the fact that I could keep all my apps, my big deciding factor was 4g. IPhone doesn't have 4g and it really is fast. I can't tell the different.difference between 4g and Wi-Fi as far as speed goes. I wouldn't buy a 3g phone -no matter how great it was. Even if your area doesn't have it yet, it's coming. |
