We had snow flakes here-- big ones! Couldn't believe it. But it stopped and nothing stuck.

Tomorrow will still be chilly but at least much nicer. 45 and sunny. I can deal with that!

It looks so pretty but just weird, too, for this early - to see snow on Halloween decorations and burying them is strange! The weatherman said that the snow is trailing down more southernward than previously expected. New Jersey was starting to get some light snow during that report.

Yes, we are getting walloped. There is about 5-6 inches out there right now, finally slowing down but still going. Where did fall go?

Is really bad here too, we have about 10 inches of wet heavy snow on the ground, the branches of my favorite tree in the side patio are almost on the floor from the weigh of the snow. half of my town has no power, we have the generator ready but thankful power still on. my son is not going to even try to make it to work tonight, the plow got stuck on my street so , our street is full on snow now.. he barely made it out of the culdesack, and told hubby he is not coming back until morning.
and snow still coming down pretty steady..

Hope everyone stays safe and warm. It's really nasty outside. The snow is wet and heavy. I think we are going to have lots of ice soon. I can't remember it ever snowing like this before Hallween. Definitely not looking forward to this winter. So scared that it will be worse than last year.

carmen in nj 10-29-2011 05:29 PM

OMG, hubby just came in and told me is about 14 inches on the ground..

Oh no I'm so sorry about his truck. But so glad he wasn't hurt.

You all be careful.

We lost electricity for a short time this am, but it is back on again. It's sunny today and the snow is actually melting. It was funny to see a snow plow come through before Halloween!

carmen in nj 10-30-2011 03:13 PM

We lost internet, phone and cable for about 12 hours, everything is back now, we were lucky we did not loose power..
final tally of snow is 16.4 inches for my town..

yorkietalkjilly 10-30-2011 03:22 PM

Our heat didn't even come on here today, it was so warm and then you see the news reports and these posts from you all that were in this storm's track and I just can't believe the difference! Glad you all have made it through.

You are lucky that you got to keep your heat on..I believe its been around 3 yrs ago that we had the ice storm lost electricity for 11 days..but we have gas logs for backup to keep us warm...loved the pic nice country homey look

NrfnKiva 11-08-2011 07:22 PM

we lost power for 8 days. finally got it back sunday nite. finally got cable/internet back late last night. the huge trees around our house lost alot of big limbs. one almost went through the roof! our yard was covered with big limbs .... what a mess!

living without power was not that bad due to our training from living off the hook on the boat. we also have a wood stove which was awesome to cook on. we also had a generator that we used a couple hrs a day to heat the house at nite and keep the chest freezer running. gas was scarce so we had to be careful how much we used..... the gas lines at the gas stations were so long! it was crazy!

but we made it. i feel bad for alot of people still in the dark. hope they get their power back soon. it was an awful storm.
