Alright, what is everyone's favorite wine? My boyfriend and I LOVE wine. We are fairly indiscriminate, but do enjoy the finer wines ;) I'd love to get some recommendations from hearing YOUR favorite wines! We recently went wine tasting and I loved the Turnmill Reserve wines YUM! :D |
Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon is my absolute favorite and Frog's Leap is good, as well. Surprisingly enough, Illinois has quite the booming wine industry that I've only recently become aware of in recent years. My most favorite Illinois (and inexpensive) wine is August Hill's Almond Infusion. I've actually never had an August Hill wine I didn't like, though. ;) Illinois Cellars also makes very drinkable wines, with my favorite being Velvet Red. |
I love a semi-sweet riesling. 2007 JJ Prum's Riesling Kabinett is my current favorite. For local wines, I really like Michigan's Black Star winery. Their late harvest riesling and their chardonnay are excellent. Michigan's Chateau Fontaine also has a nice chardonnay. On a personal note, by back yard is a few acres big, but narrow & deep, so not really usable..but it is full south-facing...perfect for grape growing...so I often dream of filling it full of grapevines :D |
I like the kind that tastes like rum. Seriously though, I don't know a lot about wines and would like to learn. Apparently Lisa says malbec is the way to go. |
I tend to go for Cabs and Zins. I gravitate toward reds. I never did taste a white I could drink a glass (or bottle...) of. haha I live in California and I never really gave thought to vineyards on the east coast. Wow! That must be interesting with the weather :-) |

Pretty much any wine I love, lol. I fell in love with a red from Spain, its called the Conquistador, I only have 6 bottles left :( and I don't know if I'll be able to get it here in the states. So I'll need to get with the East Coast wine scene. |
We have a local red from Nissley that is served warm. I really like it, but it's seasonal. It's soon about time for a bottle! |

I live in NY but order my wines from V Sattui winery (Napa Valley). Their wines are not available in stores -- direct purchase only -- so I order several cases a year. I like sweet wines and love Sattui's Muscat. The Madeira is excellent and the limit is 6 btls per order. |
I so wish I could acquire a taste for wine. I keep considering going to tastings and just being open minded. I like sparkling wines. What would you recommend for a wine newbie to try as a starter wine? |
I like the Proseco wine. My cousin and I love Chianti mixed with either Coke or cream soda. When we were kids, our Grandpa would give us his homemade chianti with soda on special occasions. Brings back alot of good childhood memories. |

Or just go with Champagne :). Perrier Jouet is an excellent mid-price champagne to start with and shows the basic characteristics of a good champagne. |
Im not really a wine drinker but I like the sweet cheap wines |
My fave is a Spanish wine called Albarino. Not too, too pricey either.... about $17/bottle around here. |
I haven't acquired a taste for wine. I've tried a few but never like them lol. I am so picky with alcohol (who would have guessed, a 21 year old picky with her drinks). I don't like things that taste too... well... alcohol-y... LOL! I love all the fruity girly drinks. My newest is a Tequila Sunrise but I change it into a Vodka sunrise cuz I am not big on tequila! I am not a big drinker but will drink 1 or 2 while out with friends. I agree, I'd like to know what to look for in a wine for someone like me? |

Give me a margarita anyday. |
I love wine also. In fact, I'm going to a wine dinner tonight featuring Rodney Strong wines. |

I love my hard liquor because it's not so "hard" after it's mixed with something. lol I do love Moscato's. I would like to drink red wine but apparently everytime I try I doesn't agree with me. For some reason my ulcers really act up. I don't like "dry" wines. I LOVE drinking Pinnacle Orange Whipped right now...I mix it with orange juice and it tastes like orange bang or orange julius. :D |
Oh and my mom is a huge wine fan. She loves to get her wine from here...Volcano Winery | About Us when she comes for a visit. :) |

Luckily, my boyfriend is in the food/wine business so we went wine tasting on his job and received industry discounts where ever we want. It is a GREAT perk, but I am DEFINITELY spoiled and get indulged fairly often, bottles of JORDAN being my fave. haha :p:D:p |

I would look for a strawberry wine for you, I actually have one very amazing one that I brought back from Italy, low alcohol content, and honestly tastes just like strawberry soda. It has a slight fizz and is really yummy. So look for strawberry's on the label, if you like fruity girly drinks this would be a good place to start. Also check to see what the percentage is of the alcohol, some of the ones over 12% seem to have more of the taste that you need to acquire over time, but pretty much any under 11% go down pretty easy (at least that I've tried). |
Moscato of about any brand!! Someone said Cupcake is really good. gotta try it when i get this baby out. |

One of the best parties I EVER threw was a wine tasting party. I bought about 8 bottles (different types and price points) and people brought bottles. We tried each one, rated it, and discussed them. I had cheese, bread, meat and fruit to accompany everything. This civilized agenda lasted about an hour and about 3 glasses and then.... :D:D:p:p We all got to try a lot of different wines and figure out what we liked. |

I'd love to tour the Napa Valley area and go wine tasting one time I'm there. As of yet the furthest north I've ventured outside LA has been is Santa Barbara. |
