I almost died at walmart this morning!!!
 

Ok, I didnt almost die, but I was very scared.
MASS CHOAS!!!!!!!!!
I thought for sure my husband was going to get in a actual fist fight and be arrested. All for the stupid $378 laptop on sale :eek: . We got there at 3:30 this morning and there was a nice organized line that wrapped around the aisle near electronics. Well all of a sudden at 4:15(the sale was supposed to begin at 5am) an assisant manager of Walmart declared that there was no line and everyone paniced and rushed the counter. For the next 45 minutes tons of fights broke out and people were trying to cut in from all directions and it was horrible. Tons of cussing, shouting, verbal threats. Anyone that tried to cut near us, my husband yelled at(as did everyone) and some of them threatened him(my hubby) and wanted to take it outside. I was very scared for him. Me and my friend almost got trampled. But long story short, we got our laptop!
Walmart was so stupid and unorganized. This whole riot situation was caused by one stupid assistant manager. Im filing a complaint on him(as was everyone that was there early) and I hope he gets fired. Thats exactly how people get hurt. This was my first time to do the early shopping on the day after thanksgiving and I will definetly never do that again. Sorry, I just had to vent.

I hope you guys had better experiences. :)

I didn't MISS anything on the 5 AM fights!! I did my shopping online at Bestbuy.com before midnight!!

That "sale" to me just does not make it worth it to fight those crazy crowds.

I'm glad that you nor your hubby were physically hurt and I think you did the correct thing in filing the report.

I have never done the "early shopping the day after Thanksgiving" for reasons of exactly what you just told us, it's insane to me. :eek:

you are VERY BRAVE. Verrrrrryyyyyyyy brave - there is no way you could ever get me in a crowd like that - I'd have to hurt someone and I don't think I'd like jail...besides - the girls have no money to BAIL ME OUT !

Sounds just like last year! My parents are there right now so good riddens to them. A lot of people got hurt last night but I am glad you and your hubby made it out ok.

That is crazy! Those kinds of sales, just invites TROUBLE, I have NEVER done the black Friday thing,, I dont have much patience as is,, I know that would send me over the edge... I try to get all my shopping done by Thanksgiving,,, I can barely deal with the normal Xmas shoppers.. :rolleyes:

I'm happy to hear that all ended well for you and the hubby but I don't think it was just your Wal-Mart. I believe many of them have incompetent management. We got to our nearby Wal-Mart at 5 am and, like you, expected the sales to start off then. Well they began dropping their sale merchandise around 4 am also, so many people were caught by surprise and chaos reigned supreme. My sister-in-law missed out on some items she wanted but she took it all in stride. We initially had intended on being there earlier for that laptop but found out ahead of time that it wasn't compatible for what my daughter wanted to use it for...games of course ;) so we grabbed a desktop computer 2 days prior...Thank goodness. Would have been highly upset otherwise. Just can't believe these people don't think about what havoc they can cause when they jump the gun like that and especially when they have no kind of order, such as a line. Craziness!! :thumbdown Again, glad that your OK and yeah!! for you and your hubby for sticking to your guns and getting that darn laptop :D .

I went out two years ago on black Friday....and there IS a reason they call it that :p I shoped for hours and exhausted myself and ended up coming home with NOTHING!!! I will never do it again!!! Lots of the sale papers I noticed yesterday advertised great deals but if you squint and read the fine print underneath the ad they only get a handful of those things that they sell for really low prices. The mall near my house opened at 1 AM this morning! That is when I went to bed, LOL! So glad you made it home safe with your laptop! I just saw on my local news here that a fight broke out and a man was arrested at our Walmart over one of those laptops!

Starting years ago Black Friday took on a whole new meaning...BLACK EYE FRIDAY!!!!!

I was there at 4AM...but the line started outside..no doors are open until 5 AM. IT's Florida, it's 63 degrees at 4am..people are buddled up like it is 63 below..that is so funny to watch. Hats, coats, drinking hot coffee.

People were very nice and patient..no real rushing to get in..the problem was getting inside. At 5:15 I was NO where near the door..a nice woman called her daughter who worked in electronic's..the laptops were gone one minute after the door openned..I went home and back in bed by 5:30..Bill asked if "the early bird got the worm"...WORM, I couldn't even get in the general area where the worm was..my laptop is going to the Doctor and get fixed, at this point I don't care how much it costs.! LOL

Did I tell you how much I hate computers! LOL

Wow! I am glad that your hubby didn't get into any fights, and that you didn't get tromped on! How is that computer working out for you?

I'm glad you and hubby are OK. I could never get up that earlier. We're heading into the City in a little while. Still deciding wether to drive or take the train. I'm beginning to think I nuts for going into today.

Glad you are ok and that you got that laptop! I learned my lesson last year at walmart and I will NEVER do it again. I have never seen people act that way before. I seriously thought I was going to be trampled. It was ridiculous.

Oh Shana I know what you mean I went to Our Walmart to get the laptop but they opened the store early and sold out of them. It was still a crazy mess when we got there though. You couldnt even get to the aisle where they had all the sale stuff it was mass chaos. I was going to do all my Christmas shopping today but everywhere I went was that way at 5 o'clock in the Morning so I gave up and came home.

My dad just told me that at our Walmart, 2 fist fights broke out over a VIDEO GAME!!:confused: :eek:

My friend, Pati just called..she stopped by a few minutes ago..went right in and got the white Christmas trees we wanted..not many people in the Express/cash line...going at dawn is not for me!!!

This is why I don't even want to look at the Walmart day-after-thanksgiving-sale AKA Black Friday Sale paper. (Or any other sale papers.) I have tried to go to Walmart and other places, but to me it is a waste of time. I just end up getting my hopes up, having someone cuss me out, and then I leave MAD.


Plus have you ever noticed you end up spending more b/c you are getting a deal???? :p

I like Lisa's idea of shopping online and avoiding the lines and the early morning and the crazy, insane people. I rarely go to Walmart period, but I can only imagine what it is like on Black Friday!! Not my cup of tea!!!!

wow, after reading this,,,, I'm sure glad I decided to stay home and rest. With the way I feel right now,,, I would have landed up in jail! I don't like the fact that I missed out on all the good sales but I really don't think I would have been able to do it.

Oh, Shana! :eek: I'm so glad that you and your husband are okay...and you got your laptop! I agree, that was completely disorganized and uncalled for. Maybe he wanted a cheap fix by watching the chaos.

I made that same mistake 3 years ago at our wally-world. Never again. People are down right ruthless and insane! All just to save a few bucks. I'd rather pay full price then have to deal with some of those morons!

On any given day the Wally World near me is nuts. Things are all over the place and scattered. No rhyme or reason to how they organize the departments. I prefer to steer clear of them because I ALWAYS leave POd!

They actually had a segment on the news at noon (I get NYC channels here) where these men were fighting over the laptops, and the security guards stepped in and they all ended up in a pile on the floor dukin' it out! I'm sure someone went to jail!! Probably a $1000 fine trying to get a $400 laptop! :p

Thankfully our Walmart was a little more organized. Unfortunately
I didn't come home with a lap top as planned and I was there at
midnight last night. The early birds that got the worms I was told
had been camping out since 9 p.m. and there were only 20 per
store so when the line reached 20 customers the others were told
that all were spoken for and so there was no need for anyone else
to even get in the line. There is no way I am standing in any line
for 8 hours to get in on a deal!

I competely agree. It is insane......I mean these guys who wait in line overnight to save a few dollars or get some item that is limited in quantity...I feel like saying "get a life"!!! or maybe even better....get a job!

When I was at Best Buy last week to buy my camera it was 2 pm and people were already lining up to get the new XBOX game machine when the store opened the NEXT DAY!!

I wonder if we would do that if they were selling exquisite yorkie puppies??? Hmmmmm...... :rolleyes:

Shana I am so glad your hubby is ok. I saw something I needed for a gift
in the Walmart advertising at a good price. I decided I would rather pay
more if I had to at Target but I didn't have to do that. I ordered it online
and it's being shipped and still less. Our Target was giving wake up calls
also but not for me. A long time ago I refused to give Walmart a penny
of mine. I despise everything they stand for and the way they treat their
employees is beyond horrible. They are puppy mills for people!! :thumbdown

I hit the stores around 5am, but went to Walmart last night just to "see". In my Walmart there was a line at around 10:30pm they sat in chairs provided. They had chairs for the people waiting with numbers on the chairs 1-20 they also told the people that there was only 20 laptops available. Very Organized!! So of course I went to Circuit City, I just walked in at like 5:15am I went straight to the counter ask if they had the 32 inch LCD TV and they did I got (2) 1 for my brother one for me!! Whne to the Camera counter and asked for the 5mp camera, again got 2!! Then my nephew wanted that robot, and we got that too!! I'm a happy camper, got just what I went for!! :p

The whole DEAL thing is designed to make people get IN the store...they have limited quantities on purpose so you don't get what you went for but shop since you're already there -

I don't think people looking for great deals need to "get a life" or "Get a job" as Socalyorkielvr said :confused: many of the people waiting overnight HAVE jobs - but probably don't make that much money - so big advertised deals appeal to them - not all of us can afford full retail....job or no job.

for one wouldn't go around bragging about being overcharged but I sure would if I got a great deal on something.

I think we're all overcharged on everything and you GOT to try to take the deals when you can - it's just too bad they offer so few real ones -
