sorry but I saw the news about this wallmart in Indiana? can't remember what state but it appears where ever there is a wallmart and in my opinion I had to laugh!! nothing could be that important to have people trampeled on to just save some money?? I just think it is the most stupidist thing  I have ever seen in my life! This kind of thing use to happen when I grew up In new York with their bargin basement sales same thing! people getting hurt! Im sorry If this offends anyone but I just dont feel sorry for anyone that feels the need to have their life put in jeapordy to shop! to stand in a line all night  maybe I shouldn't have responded, but it is a thread that was shared to get opinions? and that is all it is! my opinion. |
My son and I went to Terre Haute this morning. Got there before 5 and the store was already crazy insane. All I really wanted was 3 of the cabbage patch newborns which I did not get. Totally got pushed clean out of the way. And my Mom wanted me to pick her up one of the laptops. There was actually a fight that broke out there and the police were called in. I did get my hubby a dvd recorder and a electric throw and me the new Garth set. I don't think I will ever do that again. |
They refer to those front page ad items as "Door Busters" for a reason. 0_o. Usually it's to get people moving to the store and each store only stocks like 10 - 20 of them. They actually lose money on each item but gain it all back in increased traffic. I work at a Best Buy and we opened at 5am with a $378 Laptop and a $150 Desktop package...complete system. It was chaos. Now the manager that declared there was no line made a huge mistake. He's lucky he didn't get anyone killed. Those holiday camper crowds are always borderline riot. |
Maybe thats why its called Black Friday  We dont have that here in Canada  But we do have whats called Boxing day sales the day after Christmas....i guess its the same thing :D |

I am glad you made it out alive... I did the early shopping once and never will do it again!! I got a laugh tonight at Walmart, the tv's that they had this morning for 100.00 were now down to 78.00 . Those poor people that waited in line for hours this morning thought they were getting such a good deal... There is a girl I work with and this lady kept running into her heels with her cart, she turned around and looked (glared) at her and the lady said "Tis the season!" She was so mad so she went to go get her TV and then there was the lady again, grabbed the last tv and said to her again "tis the season" Well needless to say this was the last straw, she followed the lady grabbed the tv out of her cart and said "Tis the season" LOL... That lady must have been in shock!! Well she got security called on her and had to give the TV back.. LOL... I will have to let her know about the TV's prices going down.... maybe she can still get one... hahah.... |
Shana, Oh, gosh! I am sorry about the whole experience, but glad you and your hubby are ok, and that you got your laptop after all that! |
I actually was one of those crazy, insane people at Wal-Mart this morning. I was very surprised because it was organized this time. As soon as I walked in the door, the greeter handed me a map of the store and where each item would be located. All of the lines were very organized. They repeatedly announced the number of each item available. Even after that people chose to stay standing there in line when it was clear they were beyond the number available. I arrived at 4:20 am and only saw a few people who looked like they may have been there a while. I asked one of the cashier's how long she had been there and she said she arrived at 3am and the store was empty. I did not witness any fights. Thank goodness. I seem to go only every other year because it takes me a year to recover. I am not a morning person on a good day. Our store only had 16 laptops, 43 game boy's, 75 mp3's and 140 portable dvd player's. The last one is what I went for. I was home and back in bed by 6:45. I almost always take my other ads with me and have Wal-Mart match the prices so I can limit myself to one store. I am very glad you made it out alive and intact. You are lucky your husband was there with you. My wouldn't go for the world. He thinks I am crazy. I would have to fend for myself if an altercation took place. |

Well this was my first time to ever do this. It was more my husbands doings. I have heard the horror stories but didnt think it would really be that bad. Especially when I first go there and we spent the first hour patiently in a nice well formed line. I think the whole situation would have been fine if it wasnt for the stupid manager causing the riot. They really should fire him and next year pass out numbers or something to avoid the same thing happening again. All we went for was the laptop and that is all we bought. Im glad we got it because I really couldnt have afforded it otherwise. But I defiently wont ever go shopping again on black friday. I learned my lesson and hope others can learn from it too. :) My dad thinks walmart encourages the outbreaks by having a poorly structured sale and unorganization. He thinks they are so desperate for publicilty. I kinda think hes on to something. Afterall all the workers and security guards were literally just crowded around watching the situation. They literally did nothing!! |

My granddaughter wanted this video thingy so I went to Walmart about 10:00pm last night to see where it was located so I'd know where to run to at 5:00am. Well, they only had 4 of the things and I knew that I probably wouldn't be in line early enough to get one, so I just bought it then. It was already on sale, but was going to be about 20.00 less at 5:00am - I decided sleep and safety were worth 25.00 :D |
