| Get a MAC!! LOL. No, really, all my computer problems seized when I finally broke down and bought an Apple Macbook Pro. No virus program necessary and had it for almost 3yrs with *knock on wood* no issues. I love it and will NEVER go back to using Windows. I had sooo many problems on my HP and Dell's. But I have no advice other than making trying a different virus program and blocking pop-ups (which it sounds like you already did). Or trying a different browser. I've always been really happy with Firefox.

I just took another trojan today off my computer for the same thing. It was called backdoor bot or something. But I am still having some issues. Malware did get it. Spy bot will too.

| Right if they were changed "mysteriously" it's a bot and needs to be removed. What browser are you using? You can change it back and delete the other browsers. It might fix your problem but it's probably now embedded in your programs.

| If you go up to your browser window and then right a box should open. Then go down to where it says Manage search engines. You can take a look at what search engines are enabled. Then you can remove whatever ones that are giving you the problems. My BIL just had a similar problem after my niece opened whoknowswhat on his computer. It was a mess and had all kinds or boxes popping up. After removing a bunch of programs and search engines it was finally back to normal.

This sounds exactly what was infecting my computer. The virus came in and blocked my anti virus program (TREND MICRO) and then took over. My computer spent 2 days in the shop. Thank goodness it was my work computer and not my home computer.

| Check your firewall and make sure it is on. Sometimes these things will turn that off too and leave you very vulnerable. The trojan that took down my PC was called WinFix or WinFixer something or other.

| I use malwarebytes.org You need to download it on another computer and then run it when you first start your pc.

| I too use malwarebytes.org and I also have Microsoft Security Essentials on mine. I use CCleaner too. It really does sound like a virus. I am not a fan of Norton. The last time I had Norton my computer got infected in a bad way. Had to take it in. The three things I am using now is what was recommended to me. Good luck! Having computer issues just stink.

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | Well I deleted Norton and that has made a WORLD of difference. I also downloaded Spybot and it took off 17 malware attacks. So far its behaving... hope that is the end. I think Norton was my problem.

We had Norton too here at work. Arrrggghh I hate Norton. I have the same as some mentioned here the malwarebyte here at work. I think I am going to download it to my home one too. I like it. Got things working here at work, computer geek is still coming. I have a few computers here that are acting strange alone with my server, may be a problem on the server. Can't wait for him to tell why their wonderful virus protection lets these things in. He has a new excuse everytime. LOL
