I failed I got a call from the doctor's office today and the nurse told me I had failed the glucose test from last week. I have to go in tomorrow morning and take the 3 hour glucose test and am a little stressed. I have not gained but 23 lbs and am over 7 months pregnant. I am not overdoing sweets and drink LOTS of water. Anyone have experience with failing your first test? I am hoping tomorrow's results are better. Also, she was concerned I am still registering low iron levels even though I am taking prenatal AND iron supplement (BiFera) everyday. They are increasing my iron to 2 pills a day and rechecking tomorrow just to double check. Prayers and good thoughts for better results would be greatly aprreciated. |
Sending prayers and good thoughts for positive results. Take a deep breath and try to relax....results will be much better tomorrow! :) |
I'm so sorry that I don't have any experience with that and so I don't have advice to offer :( but I will be keeping you in my thoughts and hopefully tomorrow you will receive better news. Please do not view this as a failure. You have not failed. Whatever the results tomorrow, you can always improve on them if they need improving. Hugs |
Sending prayers your way Amanda. I never experienced any problems with gestational diabetes with my pregnancies. I had toxemia with my first though. I hope tomorrows test will give better results. ps...love you new avatar...GO VOLS!!! |
Sending prayers for healthy test results but even more important a healthy mom and baby. Best wishes. |
I have experienced a bad test result with my second son. However, it was not on the glucose test. It was from the blood test for screening for defects. Let me just say, they do make mistakes. So don't stress yourself out about it. They told me that my son had a high chance of having Edwards Syndrome (I think that was what it was called). But he is 100% pure healthy mean boy! :D No problems at all! So, think positive and we will all pray that your second round comes back with a clean bill of health! :) |
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for tomorrow, Amanda. Relax and stress less.:) |
I failed the initial glucose screens with my youngest two, but did fine on the three-hour ones. It's not an unusual occurrence, so please try not to get too stressed about it. If you do have troubles with the repeat, they will send you for some counseling and do some frequent testing to make sure your sugars stay in control. The vast majority of the time women with gestational diabetes can control their sugars with their diet and the babies do just fine. |
Good vibes and prayers going out for your test. |
Thank you all for your words of encouragement. |

You are in my thoughts and prayers Amanda. |
Sending positive thoughts for your test tomorrow! Please try not to worry and stay as relaxed as possible......you do not want to have your blood pressure high when you go in tomorrow. |
Praying everything will be normal with your test tomorrow. |
I had no problems with my first child! My second I failed the glucose, and passed the 3 hr test...later was told it was probably the bowl of cereal I ate before taking the first test:p |

I too also failed my first one but did fine on my 3 hour!! Good luck and try not to worry! |
lots of people fail the first one sugar ;) just praying for a better second result. You'll be fine either way sweet heart. they will fix you all up so that Mr. Fletcher can get the best diet and health he can get. i know it's worrysome, but you'll be just fine even with gestational and who knows might just be a fluke deal like lots of other women. good luck on the three hour one and i'm praying for you all. |

I know a bunch of people who failed it the first time around but then passed it. I'm sure you are fine. Good luck! I'm 6.5 months and should be having my test done soon. Wish me luck. I've been super stressed! Just yesterday some jerk stole my daughters $500 stroller out of the hallway in our apt. building! I've been so mad I can't sleep or eat right. |

Withing you nothing but the best of luck! |
Praying for you! Hope all turns out ok! |
sending prayers all will be ok. Love and hugs!! |
i'm worried about mine not because i'm afraid i'm gestational, but because i have a low sugar problem that i can't ever get the dr to officially diagnose. i'm fine on all the overnight tests, but i know my body does crash out bad after drinking lots of pop and then later on if i don't eat well i have a "fainting" moment and feel awful. i know it's low suger even if the test strips don't say it's dangerously low it's still messing me up. so i'm scared of this drinking sugar and then crashing on purpose thing. |

I hope all went well. It's actually super common to fail the first test. I hear about it all the time. :) |

I went Tues and completed the 3 hour. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, just felt groggy most of the day after the test. I didn't get a call from the dr. office and the nurse said no news is good news so hopefully that is my case. However, I have an apt. Tues so I am wondering if they will just wait and tell me then. |
