So far this summer, restore 150yr old treadle cabinet (belonged to my great,great grandmother and beyond). It will end up being a cradenza because of the shape that it is in. Cleaning and oiling a machine that arrived yesterday,will probably rehome it. Help hubby add to the back patio. Downsize alot,,, put 300+ DVDs in cases yesterday and they take up about 1/8 the space,also makes it easier to take with us in the travel trailer,doing the cds tomarrow. Need to decide which sewing machine is going in the artdeco cabinet (there are a few around here,my other passion). Finish several large sewing projects.
There is more but it is on a list on the computer and if I dont look at it very often then I dont get overwhelmed.
I dont think that the projects ever stop.

I rent an apartment, so I think if I do any remodeling projects I might have to go :wavey:. So my project is to go through the house again & donate whatever can go. My biggest project is hopefully going back to work after 2.5 yrs. so the hunt is on!:cool:

Right now though I am trying to do a big cleaning and clear a bunch of space out- I am going to have a garage sale in a few weeks to get rid of all the junk I find- then I want to do a bit of re-decorating/ some new furniture and a few more accent pieces and then I will be set.

We are building a new deck over our existing concrete patio and replacing a sliding patio door with french doors.
I'm trying to talk hubby into taking out a set of windows and putting French doors there also so that when both sets are open, we have an extended entertaining area off our dining room. He's starting to budge I think lol

A few years back we took all of the carpet up in our den and formal dining. I found grooved,floated flooring (like pergo only nicer,swiss made) at the RESTORE. If you haven't found one near you,it is owned by Habitat for Humanity and what you spend there goes towards building homes for others. It cost about half of what HomeDepot and Lowes cost. They even had the sound barrier for underneath. My husband did a little homework online before he started.
Ive been thinking about painting the kitchen floor. I know one or two people that have done this and say that it isn't hard and it isnt as expensive as tile.

On top of this, a couple of days ago our indoor hot tub somehow started to leak on our main floor and totally soaked the basement. It put out our natural gas water heater, but luckily that started again when it dried out. We had to empty the hot tub, and then we realized the floor around the hot tub is totally soaked. The next day we stepped on the tile and water was splurting up through the grout :( The whole floor is squishy! They tiled in the hot tub too, so we have to rip it all apart to find the leak (looks like it must be in the piping behind the plastic tub part) and if we're going that far, we might as well rip out the whole thing and get rid of it. We only use it maybe once a month and it's just not worth the damage if it continues to leak like that! We'll take out the hot tub and the floor and redo that whole area of the house. I am hoping we are able to turn it into a big laundry room.

:( So needless to say, the sewing room is the last project on the list now.

Squishy floors just don't sound fun at all!!!! :eek: I hate when projects take so much longer than anticipated!! (Especially when the project I really want done is pushed to the back burner!!!)

Our hot tub is outside, and we only use it during the winter months because it is so darn hot here! Husband said it was 106 degrees inside his shop yesterday!!! Yikes! Even the swimming pool water feels hot!!! Yuck! Oh well, guess that means I'd better stay in the AC and sew for my little furbutts!!! Ha ha! Have a great weekend!

I have a DIY house!!! LOL Last year we rebuilt the 2 bathrooms from scratch. We gutted the old ones that were back to back and moved the wall between them to make the master bath bigger and the main bath smaller. We definitely made some mistakes along the way. I wish we insulated between the 2 bathrooms, and our drywaller didn't ask us about the shower enclosure, he just drywalled. So when we realized we couldn't put the 'new construction' enclosure we had and had to put an after construction enclosure. Its so not as good and solid! Bummer!

This year, we built a stair case from our driveway area down to the pool area. So convenient. Then we had a side porch that would have made an awesome screen porch... we cleaned it out and screened it in. We put up new ceiling fans throughout the house and we are now redoing the living room walls and curtains. I am planning to put a pergo floor in there this fall and BF wants to replace the windows in there this fall also.

We are always always doing something! In March I took a week I had off and redid my bedroom. I had OLD furniture and I repainted it all shiny black and changed all the hardware to crystal knobs and brushed nickle pulls. I painted the room, did curtains, new bedding! For minimal money (maybe $300) the room looks like it got a nice face lift! :)

We're finishing up our Pergola. Next summer's project will be landscaping. Here is how it's looking.

DH likes to work in his garage with the door open to create a draft, but he was the world's worst about not putting the (flimsy) gate up when he was going in and out "just for a second". So he built this gate to match the decor. It is one that automatically snaps shut behind him when he comes in and out, and the girls can still see through to what is going on on the other side.

Wow! This gives me a really great idea! We have an patio on the western side of our house (which also has the western sun and NO shade) that runs from out Florida room to the guest bedroom. It gets SO hot in the summer. A pergola is a perfect remedy, and we could even add Cooleroo(sp?) for added shade. I'm going to run it by DH and see what he says!

You did mean hardcore projects, didn't you? You're doing great! I can't wait to see it finished. Something tells me some little one is going to love it, too.:p

We are constantly working on projects at our house. We bought a 1912 bungalow 1.5 years ago, and have not stopped working since. Currently, we are working on wiring and stripping woodwork. They are both not fun projects, but it will be worth it in the end!
