We are in the process of renovating everything for my little brother's foundation. He died in 2006 due to a drowning at a public pool so we started a foundation that same year.

We have done some great things with it... we have donated defibrillators to lots of local pools, created scholarship funds, education about drowning and promoting drowning awareness. We have also been involved in aiding other families who have lost children, not only to drowning.

Anyways I am getting back on the ball with the foundation!!! We have been slacking, life gets in the way, things happen, depression, etc, that the family deals with but now we are on a roll again. I am in the process of re-creating the site along with a company that is donating their time, I am updating everything, getting people up-to-speed with what is going on... we are still a work in progress and the new site will be up tomorrow evening!!! Just Liked your Connor's Care Foundation. Good Luck with your new site. My neighbor's 17 year old son fell from a cliff while hiking last week. He has a fracture skull, broken neck and broke his back in 3 places. One of his his best friend started a site on Facebook for prayers and support for the family. It's amazing how this site has taken off and how the community and people all over the world have given their support and prayers. Connor will always be remembered with such a great foundation in his name and you'll be helping so many people. I'm so proud of you!

Connor was beautiful, and I'm so sorry for your loss.. His foundation is wonderful. I don't have Facebook, but I liked him with my sister Stacey's Facebook.

When I was around 16 or 17 the younger brother of a school chum of mine died at the local pool, too. I know the family grieved terribly, and there was no way for folks to offer their support and prayers like now, with fb and myspace or twitter.

Done! That is horrible, I will be thinking of him.

We are really trying to spread the word more and more about drowning, as it happens far too often. Currently, it's the second leading cause of death in children 14 and under, and first leading in 18 states! Yet the issue is hardly brought to the forefront!

I have been doing my 'investigating' work and gotten a few contacts. As of yesterday, Josh Turner, country singer's agent agreed to send us an auction item! Dang I should be a PR person ;) If anybody is good at writing or good with words... I am sending out letters tomorrow to a few talent agencies of certain celebrities and their law offices, etc, stuff I've found, and I need a simple way of explaining how this issue needs to be brought up.

Connor Freed was 2 weeks shy of his 6th birthday when he tragically lost his life on June 22nd, 2006. He was found underneath an empty lifeguard chair at a country club pool. He went into cardiac arrest in the ambulance on the way to the hospital as it was just too late! A defibrillator was available that day but no one was trained on it nor knew how to use it.

We never wish this tragedy upon any other family and wanted to make a difference with our loss! Please, let's put an end to drowning- the 2nd leading cause of death in children 14 and under and the FIRST leading cause of death in 18 states! It happens entirely too often and too many families are shattered by this senseless tragedy!

So sad :( It really does happen a lot more, and the sad thing, the numbers and stats seem to go UP every year!!

It sounds silly, but Facebook has been GREAT! It's an amazing way for so many people to know about our events and stay in touch!

Great job on the Facebook page (I see you are continuing to grow at 152 likes!). The foundation website is even more beautiful than ever, a great tribute to your beautiful brother, Connor.

I am SO passionate about this cause. Obviously. But yes this will be a mission of mine for the rest of my life. I am really loving everything that I have been doing. A lot of "PR" work behind the scenes going on right now with some celebrities and it's SUCH a cool feeling. I really love it. I will make this foundation nationwide one day, I just will.

Ever since Connor died, I realize how often drowning truly does happen. And how quickly. Ya know, people are so quick to judge parents but I think people just don't realize how a few seconds can turn deadly around water for kids. That's why our goal is to just make people aware, because so many people aren't. Florida, California, Arizona, Texas, etc, warm climates where people swim more often, it's actually the leading cause of death in children 14 and under.

Something else that's been happening more lately is children getting their intestines ripped out of them from pool drains. A law recently passed here after a senator's (I think) granddaughter died this way.
