Not going to lie

Im in my new house and kinda scared! LoL Dh had to go to a meeting for a new job and I am all alone, well with Pnut of course but that turkey is sleeping in his crate haha! Kinda nervous here by myself :(

Thank goodness for YT!

megansmomma 06-07-2011 08:02 PM

and the nuts that will keep you entertained tonight :p

Patti 06-07-2011 08:03 PM

I know that feeling. I am 58 years old and I think I have spent maybe 2 nights alone. Just keep the Tv on loud and your phone by you. That always made me feel better.

horsnaround 06-07-2011 08:07 PM

i am sure it is a little scary being in a new house and all. Turn the tv or radio up so you don't hear every little noise. And try to relax the sun will be up soon enough lol lol

107barney 06-07-2011 08:08 PM

Yikes! Have a glass of wine maybe and drown out any house noises so you don't freak yourself out.

lovespandp 06-07-2011 08:14 PM

Thanks ladies! I love to be alone during the day, not so much at night. :(

lovespandp 06-07-2011 08:16 PM

I know Pnut hears better than I do anyways!! He had me nervous a while ago he was barking crazy at the back door. I went to peek and there was our cat out there! Ha Glad to have his ears!!

horsnaround 06-07-2011 08:19 PM

I use to hate being home alone I am a big chicken. But i have gotten much better at it Figure i have four dogs that would try to protect me. Well at least they would bark I may have to fend for myself after that. :)

:D Yes, I would LOVE to have a German Shep or Masift or something like that. But my lil Pnt has the best ears!! Plus he is easier to snuggle with!!

MauiGirl 06-07-2011 08:30 PM

It does take a while to feel comfortable in a new home and new neighborhood. Having an alert little Yorkie really is a good thing, even though they bark at too many things, it would probably scare anybody away who didn't want to be detected.

Take care.

I have the sensor lights in the back, I have my front porch light on, I have my cell phone by me, everything locked... So I think we will be ok.
:D

KazzyK810 06-07-2011 08:52 PM

I moved to a new house right before my youngest went away to college, and then I was all alone. I barely slept an hour or two during the night for months. Then I got ZoE. I can't believe how much ridiculously safer I feel with a 6lb pup....who runs behind my legs when she hears a noise

RileyDC 06-08-2011 05:27 AM

I remember when I first moved into the City..... here, in DC. I heard every siren..... every ambulance.... every sound .... didn't sleep well, at all the first week or so...... Now, I don't hear a thing!! LOL!! :)

horsnaround 06-08-2011 05:31 AM

Hope you got some sleep :)

gidget529 06-08-2011 05:35 AM

Hopefully you're able to catch a nap today after your long night last night! I hate staying alone in a new place at night too. You hear every sound. I always would keep a lot of lights on and the phone right by me.

Once a friend who was a police officer told me I should have gotten a german shepherd, not a yorkie (this was before I met husband). He might have had a point. I had a mouse once. Cricket new right away it was there before me, heard it and barked, but then hid behind me while continuing to bark when I had it cornered in the kitchen!

Princess10 06-08-2011 05:39 AM

I think it's pretty funny how safe Princess makes me feel if I'm home alone at night, or even if I have to go out at night for something.

Yorkies hear & smell so well & they are not about to let anyone invade their territory no matter what!

If I have her, my cell & some lights on I'm just fine.;) (that means saying no to the scary movies my DD thinks are so great, lol).

People think I'm nuts when I say I rely on her but if she sees/smells/hears someone before I do that gives me extra time to react.

My lil friend 06-08-2011 05:51 AM

I do not enjoy being alone,or as alone as you get with 6 dogs. When there is a freak moment that everyone is gone I try to plan a project of some kind to keep me busy. Watch a movie and xstitch or cut things out to sew. Make something for me on my sewing machine. Clean out a cabinet or a couple of drawers. Rearrange the furniture. Heck I totally overhauled the master bath cabinets and drawers the other day, made the dogs grooming thing more organized. Next thing I knew it was time to cook dinner and the house was full of people again.
Busy hands makes time fly.

Wish we lived closer! ;)

I HATE being alone too! We live out in the country.... one neighbor but we don't really know them, on 3 acres, 90 acres of farmland behind us... yeah I get scared being here alone too! lol. Jackson also does the barking out the window thing occasionally and it scares me because he obviously sees something but it's usually an animal or something haha.

Lil Sis 06-08-2011 06:28 AM

I also hate being alone. I like "doing my own thing" such as my crafts and all, but I like someone else in the house. We live in a small zero lot line neighborhood now.. the dogs bark at the kids playing, cats, random people walking and .. well every thing. I don't even get up to look most of the time. BUT.. there is a tone to their bark when I know I need to look:eek:

My daughters had a hard time adjusting to living in the city.. lots of different noise for sure.

I hope you adjust and like you said... cell phone check... dog check... lights check... you will be fine:D

My lil friend 06-08-2011 07:13 AM

I have a friend here (that is an officer) that told me having dogs is safer than an alarm system. He said if your house is broken into and the alarm goes off,it tells the bad guys that they have 10 or 15 mins to do whatever. If a bunch of dogs live there, they will move onto another house. When we moved in ,many years ago, there was a sign on the back stormdoor that said "protected by Smith and Wesson". We just left it up.

LoL Dh wants to get a sticker that says (It has a picture of a 40 cal Sig) and it says "nothing in here is worth your life" haha!

lovespandp 06-08-2011 07:40 AM

Well my night alone was scary! LoL Usually if DH is going to be home late, I would be sleeping when he got home! LoL not this time! I kept hearing all kinds of scary sounds, and thinking that someone was in my back yard! Dh came home at like 12, I told him never leave me again!! :( It was horrible!

heatherm0890 06-09-2011 06:59 PM

haha I know exactly what you guys mean...luckily my df is very rarely gone at night. However, after the incident the other day, I am much less fearful. My fiance was outside washing the cars and our glass door was not completely shut (it doesnt always latch when its hot if it isn't locked) The next thing I know, my massive border collie is going nuts and literally flung the door open. I grabbed him right before he got out. When I looked up to see what in the world he was trying to get at, I saw a man had come to sell us something or another. In the process of the door being flung open by Riley, Bailee had gotten out. The man reached for my door to open it to bring her in. As he did Riley lunged and I could barely hold him. My fiance ran up and told him to please not touch the door, because our dog didn't like it. I am so glad he is that protective. I always knew he was protective of me, but not so protective of the house. He is technically my fiances dog but if my fiance pretends to hit me, he gets angry. He has actually bitten him once. He love his mama!!

I understand completely! My hubby leaves me sometimes too. And I swear I sleep with one eye open. I have found having the tv on helps me. I don't know if it is the light or the noise but it helps. That and we have a large Great Pyrenees that I am quite sure will eat any intruder! :D Smith and Wesson helps too! ;)

Most people are afraid to get out of the car. He will run up to the car barking and his neck hair stands up. I wouldn't advise anyone to get out without us being around. Lol. Not sure what he would do. But he is the biggest baby toward us. One of the best dogs I have ever owned. They are known for being very protective.

He also protects my son. Another dog approached my son on his bicycle one day and Shadow lit into that dog. I think he was just protecting my boy. :) He don't mess around! Lol.

But you should see how much dog food we go through!

What is your baby?

heatherm0890 06-09-2011 07:26 PM

Riley is a border collie. He sounds alot like your baby; a huge baby around us but wary of strangers.

He such a baby with my yorkie too...she literally will run up to him and bite him on the nose and he just lets her. She takes his toys right out of his mouth and he does nothing. Heaven forbid another dog do it though...

its nice to have dogs like this, perfect combo of family dog and protection :)

Rosie and Shadow are the same way. Let one of those Beagles try to take something away from Shadow. Yet, little Rosie can do whatever she wants. It is a nice combo to have. And so sweet to watch! :)

OMG I love love LOVE Great Pyrenees!! When I worked at a dog groomer when I was about 17.. The groomer had a Great Pyrenees. She would always bring it to the shop and he would just lay there all day. I had to care for the dog while I was there, but he was the sweetest dog Ive ever seen. Even if he thought something was strange he would perk up and make sure everything was ok!

You should feel very safe with him around!! AND of course your Smith and Wesson!! I feel sorry for anyone that tries to break in your house!! :D
