Any iTunes experts out there?? I'm not getting any help on the Apple discussion boards and the only way (I guess) to get customer support is to purchase the extended Apple Care. Just in case any of you can help... my daughter downloaded/purchased a movie to iTunes (on the computer) and now when we synch the phone, the movie doesn't synch. And yes, I have "synch video" checked. I can see it in her purchase history. What am I doing wrong?? |
Aaargh! I have some problems getting my tunes to sync and can never recall what it is I miss. It seems like I usually elect to manually sync and because I do that, I have to do things in a certain way but just can't recall since it has been a while since I have done it. Hopefully someone who does it more often will answer soon. |

If you're near Apple store (they have a locator online), you can make a free appt on the site - I'd recommend you make it during the week bc on the weekend it's unreal crazy busy. When I got my new laptop in Dec - I had the worst trouble getting my entire library over to the new computer - I tried every method online, including apple's instructions, to no avail. Last wkend, we went to our apple store for help, and it was really no help at all. The guy def had ADD, so couldn't focus at all on what our problem was . For your issue though, I bet they could help. |

The nearest Apple store is 2 hours away (in two different directions - Houston or Austin). Plus, I'm not using a laptop so it would be pretty difficult to take the computer to them. I have had to visit them before when I first got my iphone because the home button was real mushy - didn't "click" (if that makes sense). They replaced the front panel and home button and I was on my way with no charge within 30 minutes. But it was on the weekend and yes, it was nuts in there! |

I know you said you tried the apple forum, but did you see this thread? iPhone won't sync movies? - AppleInsider Here's one post from it: Quote:

you need to make sure that the format is correct to move over to the phone click on the video to select it in the movie list in itunes, then click the advanced tab on the toolbar on top (beside file edit tools help ...ect.), go down to the option that says "make iphone compatible/version" (it may say something different but it will sound something like that). click this and let itunes convert. Then after it finishes try syncing again. Secondly depending on what firmware the iphone is running on it could be a problem in the transfer method. To solve this issue you can check manually manage videos and music on the iphone mainscreen and then drag the video over to the iphone. I personally like this method of syncing better because it gives you more control and you can sync across more than one library easily. |
Let me know if ^ works This information can from my 17 year old son that is like the king of technology |
Okay, I printed out that whole discussion and will look it over more closely when I'm in front of that computer. Hope I find the answer in all that mess. I hate being so computer-illiterate sometimes. |

Good Luck and I am also computer, iphone and everything technology not so smart. Techno son has NO patience with me but will help anybody else. |
I'll let y'all know in a couple days whether that worked but in the meantime, could you also ask your son about this situation... My other daughter downloaded a movie directly to her phone about a month ago or so and then when she went to synch it, there was an update available so she did that first and then synched. Well, movie disappeared. It's not even in her purchase history like my other daughter's. And she already trashed the email receipt (and Yahoo dumps trash rather quickly so it's no longer there). I'm not sure there's any way to get that one back. And is there actually a way to talk to someone in iTunes Customer Service without having the Apple Extended Care? Has anyone here done that? |
under the tab store on the toolbar there is an option that says check for available downloads, click on that and it should check your library for purchases and if one is not there it will begin to download it. Make sure the itunes store is logged into the account that she purchased it on before you do the fore mentioned. |

Question is: I have two other videos that synced successfully to my iPod with no problems. It's just this one video that just won't sync. It's the same format as the other two, so my iPod should support it. I don't get any error messages when I try to sync, it just doesn't happen. I've tried manually syncing as well and it still doesn't work. Help, please? Answer: You may have told iTunes to not warn you with future warnings that can prevent videos from syncing. Not all video is created equally so not all mp4 videos are the same. Try using iTunes Advanced menu or a third party video converting program to re-encode the video to an iPod compatible setting. She said this worked for her, but I don't know if this even applies to your question since you're talking about a phone, but the answer may lie in the itunes program under the "advanced" setting. The date is newer though, August of 2010. It difficult though, because the new the question, the less likely that there will be an answer. Another option: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html. Since you're having the problem with itunes, they should be able to help you. |
