What Internet Browser Do You Use? I'm having a terrible time with my windows pc & can't seem to find the problem. This thing has been an endless problem literally since day one, and if I can't fix it or get it fixed with no out of pocket expense it's getting recycled. I normally use Mozilla Firefox, my pc is running soooo slow (no virus, malware, etc. can be detected), so I decided to try to open Internet Explorer. It is a little bit faster, but I really don't like it for several reasons. My friend uses Google Chrome. I'm sure there are some other ones out there as well. I just wondered which one you like, I am probably going to do a destructive system restore tomorrow & want to start out with the best everything hopefully, when I get it back up & running. Thanks in advance! (and please wish me luck:rolleyes:) |
IE...Good Luck! |
Just recently switched to Google Chrome and I love it!! |
I use the latest version of safari. I sometimes use Google Chrome also now that its available for mac. |
I always use Mozilla. But, it's interesting you said this...bc now I realized how "draggy" my browser has been for about a week...it longer hesitation after any click I make, like it can't keep up. Is that similar to what's happening with you too? |
I use IE. Since you don't have a virus, could you be out of memory on your computer, or could it be your processor that is slowing down your computer? When it gets technical like that I really don't know what I am talking about, but here at work when we got new computers with bigger processors and more memory, I was amazed at how much faster things are using the same IE. |
hmmm...strange...I use firefox. Firefox is much faster on both my desk puter & laptop than IE is. |
Before you ditch it why don't you contact RoboYorkie. He's great and can take a look remotely to clean things up.....cheap too! I just purchased a new iPhone and was having problems with my iTunes account and he was able to fix it after I messed around for 3 days with Verizon, in store tech help, Apple and torn the hair from my head. |

it is like that too, but also on YT for example it will take 30-60 seconds soemtimes to pull up the reply window once i click for it or when i go to new posts, etc, the ads will never load (not that i personally care:p) but my address bar will still be saying connecting forever and ever. when i was trying to access my isp account i left the page loading overnight and never got it!:thumbdown |

Especially when i have a banning title to uphold!:D this internet explorer doesn't even have spellcheck, including the one on YT unless i download it, what the heck?!?? |
Have you done a Disc Check? That speeded mine way up to get those problems fixed - that and cleaning out cookies, etc. frequently! I use IE 8 something. My laptop used to be slow - fast now. |

Also check your memory. Go to Local Disk (C: ) properties, General tab and you'll see how much memory your computer has left. |

I like Firefox the best. IE always proved to be super slow when I had my PC. I now have a Mac and still use Firefox. |
Google Chrome...love it! |

Same here!! Love Firefox! |
IE is easily hacked so since my hubby & I have used Mozilla Firefox, not a problem. Runs like a champ! |
Google chrome |
Firefox and Safari. Stopped using IE a long time ago. Don't like it and it's responsible for letting in more viruses than the others. |
I normally use IE however I have Firefox because sometimes its easier/better to use. Both my grandfather and sister only use Google Chrome. Its really personal preference. I haven't had much of a problem with IE... I do keep all of my files and music on a flash drive. I am in college and it would horrible to lose a 10+ page paper should something happen so I started putting files on my flash drive. I don't have much stored on my computer. |
I have flash drive backups, too. I almost lost my pictures, my office work, my zillions of stored audio books(over 500 now) and just stuff! I got a 500 gig HD backup that crashed so went to flash drives - it's all there, too, now. |
Princess10 -- I want to thank you for starting this thread. I have been having trouble with sites kicking me out and I have to log in over and over despite always clicking the "remember me" or "keep me logged in" options. I have removed cookies, cleared history, all sorts of evolutions over and over -- still kept having the problem. After reading your thread, I switched my browser to Firefox and my computer is FLYING! After initially entering my passwords at each site, I have NOT had to re-enter them again! No more kicking me out! I am so happy with Firefox -- it is like getting a new computer! |

I always use Firefox, whether on Mac or PC. IE is my least favorite browser. |
I use Firefox. However, the only problems I have is email on my school account. It just will not send them. But IE will send. Other than that I am happy with Firefox. |
running the ccleaner full force didn't do much good. i do know my passwords, i switch them up a bit & may have to try a couple times but i know my e-mail for sure in case i get locked out & need to have it reset. Jmulls (my banning rival;)) has been a wonderful help all day today trying to get me up and running. he is not very hopeful much can be done at this point except a reinstall of windows which means wiping out everything i don't back up.:( my memory says i'm using 43.8Gb/144GB on C drive, but now norton is giving me high memory usage warnings.:confused::confused: i've tried to uninstall and delete everything i can but it's just not working. i believe all of my pics are on shutterfly (6GB), but i have almost 5 1/2 GB of music i don't want to lose. i have blank cd's, but with the way this thing is running it will take an eternity to burn everything.:( thanks sooooo much, everyone, for all of your words of wisdom. i always feel so much better hearing from someone that has experienced something, not someone trying to sell something! feel free to keep ideas coming as they come to you....if you're all out, like me, i understand!:) |
