So excited! Getting a pet alligator! I am soooooo excited! We just found out that my cousin is rehoming her pet alligator! It got a little too big for them! Lol! It is currently 4 feet long. My husband had a pet alligator when he was a kid that died, so this is really special for him! Woo hoo! We get him this Saturday! His name is Alphie Franks (long story, lol!) I'll post pics as soon as I can! |
April Fool's Day. |
do you walk it in a collar or a harness? lol seriously, where do you keep an alligator? I've seen little mini ones at a pet store that were less than a foot long...but a four foot gator??? I've never known anyone that had one as a pet. Give details :) |

Just too funny... love these April Fool's jokes first thing in the morning. ;) |

To answer the other question....yes, you walk them with a harness to avoid a collapsed trachea. He is already piddle pad trained, so that is great! And he loves Yorkies too! |

Awwww, can't wait to see pictures of Alphie Franks. It would be really neat if you had fountain pond in your yard. Don't worry what other say, alligators make great safe pets. Just don't remove the duct tape from their snouts, that messes up the statistics. |
There is designer duct tape now. |
Cool! Also stay away from feeding them anything with corn, wheat and bi products! I heard its bad for them! |

I have tons of duct tape!! :p Now I just have to find the AlligatorTalk forum! |
In case the duct tape fails, buy some heavy duty walking boots for better ankle security. |
These post cracked me up! To the OP...I wish you luck. You are alot braver than me. Where are you going to keep it? I hope you keep him as full as you can so he NEVER gets hungry! |

OK, a little naive and confused..............is this real or an April Fool's joke? |
Here is proof they are harmless. And below, there is a link that they recognize their own names. In that link they are doing crocodile obedience training. Great stuff! BBC News - Brazilian woman finds alligator behind sofa Brazilian woman finds alligator behind sofa A woman in Brazil was shocked to find an alligator hiding behind her sofa after heavy rains flooded her house in the town of Parauapebas, in Para state. She said she was alerted to the reptile's presence by her three-year-old son, who was patting its head.:eek: The woman snatched the child away and called the fire brigade, who trapped the 1.5m-long (5ft) alligator. The firefighters said the family was lucky the reptile was not hungry. Firefighter Captain Luiz Claudio Farias said it could have seriously hurt or even killed the boy. Capt Farias said it was not uncommon for animals such as alligators and snakes to enter people's houses in towns such as Parauapebas which are built very near rivers and the rainforest. He said the reptile had been released in a less populated area of the town. Related Stories Crocodiles 'recognise own names' |

April Fools! (or is it???) Oh my! I am having too much fun with this. Last night when I posted this it was right before bed and I couldn't stop laughing about it. Now, the fun just continues! Oh, by the way, did I mention I have a pool in my backyard? We are converting it to a swamp for little Alphie. |

that was my first thought. My son-in-law had an iguna that bit off their very large black lab's tongue. I think an alligator could do a little more damage, especially to a Yorkie. |
