Oh no, Lila! I am so sorry to hear this news about your Mom. My heart hurts for you and what you are going through. I lost my Mom and know the heartache of seeing them go through an illness and failing. I send hugs and I will be praying for your Mom and you.

Lila,

I'm so sorry - I just now read this.

I've been in your shoes so I know I can't say anything to make you feel better. But in years to come you will be able to take comfort in knowing that you were there for your mom as much as you could be.

You and your mom will be in my prayers.

Mom is not in any physical pain that I can tell. Since her hemorrhagic stroke in 1997 (caused from Coumadin), she has been unable to communicate with words that make sense and has never been able to really understand what anyone else says. So, I don't think she really knows what I am saying to her at this time. But, I do know she can see it in my eyes and by the tenderness in my voice. She has suffered mentally with mega frustration since 1997. As far as physical pain, I just do the best I can to try and figure out if she is hurting. I have seen her SO frustrated over the years. She has always known something was wrong with herself. It eventually turned into Vascular Dementia. She has suffered enough. God Bless her little soul.

I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's long struggle. My Mom had a stroke 4 years ago, she also was on coumadin. She only lived a week after the stroke and you could see the frustration in her eyes of not being able to speak or move. I cannot imagine how difficult it has been for all of you to live through this for so many years. I will pray for her to remain pain free and for your continued strength.

Oh, Patti, I'm sorry you, too, had to go through a similar event with your mom. It's heart wrenching. I'm sure coumadin has served a purpose for some people, but the doctors sure need to keep and eye on those taking it and be diligent about bloodwork while on it. The neurologist told us that night in the ER that only 1% of people live that have had this type of stroke. I don't ever want to be in this 1%. I, personally, will never take coumadin. Thank you for your prayers.

The Hospice nurse came out today after I called her to tell her that mom was not doing well. Long story short.......she said mom is "actively dying". She can barely breath now. It's just a matter of time. When? I don't know, but anytime is too soon! :(

I am so sorry. My dad passed last March and Hospice told us when he was dying and we were all there. Losing ones Mom is so painful.
