Tomorrow I turn "50"
 
I am turning 50 tomorrow. :eek: What the heck???? I am a little sad :( and a little nervous. Where did the time go? I still feel like the kid!!! I know age is just a number ... but this is a BIG number!!! Ugggh.. this stinks :thumbdown

Happy Borthday. 50 is nothing, why it is the new 30. You have a lot of years, and lot of things to do, and you are still young! Enjoy the day, have fun, and do something crazy! Skydiving would be fun!

lol, I had a harder time turning 25 than any other age, 50 included. But I agree, where did the time go? I stopped counting at 30, not for vanity but just because it stopped meaning anything. I still feel like I'm 20ish something.

The hardest thing about turning 50 was that I wasn't the youngest anymore in my group of friends. :( ;)

I hope you have a happy birthday...and yes, it is just a number!

I just turned 50 in December and thought the same thing!! Time just goes by so fast. No birthdays have ever really bothered me, but something about being a half century old messes with you just a little bit, but age is just a number, so celebrate turning 50 with lots of joy and happiness.:) Have a wonderful birthday!!!

Don't sweat it. i am 53 and in MY head I am still that nutty 20 year old. You will be surprised how you will adjust and again 50 is the new 30 so stop worrying and start embracing!!!!:)

Congratulations on turning 50......Happy Birthday!

The number doesn't really bother me, but getting on the AARP mailing list did. How dare they?! How many retire anywhere near 50? Send me that junk when I'm actually closer to retirement age....like 75 or so!

Guess it all depends upon how you see it. DH was thrilled to start getting "senior coffee" at McD's.:D

Happy Birthday!! I am 56 -- I was too busy at 50 to let it bother me. But this past year with my youngest off at college, I have really had the whole age thing sink in and it is a little daunting. I've even been thinking about letting my hair go natural, which judging by my roots is a lot more salt than pepper! Still......there are some bonuses. Beall's Department Store gives a senior discount at 50! I am retired, and have been since 1996! (Benefits of a 22 year Naval career!) I am also a member of AARP and enjoy those discounts too. I have a Senior's Silver Account at my bank for over 50 patrons which gives mefree checks & interest on my checking account. I really CAN and DO wear purple & red together, although I still do not have my red hat!

And.....here are a few more benefits to turning 50: (remember a sense of humor will get you through a lot of milestone birthdays! )

The Benefits of Turning 50

You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.

You sing along with elevator music.

Your eyes won't get much worse.

Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.

Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

No one expects you to run anywhere.

Happy 50th Birthday!!!!! It really is just a number (or so I keep telling myself:D). Really, it's how you feel. If you are young at heart then you are young. Enjoy a wonderful day!!!!!

LMAO... That was a real kicker for me too. It just showed up one day, and so I ignored it.
BUT....... then....they just kept mailing them to me every week after, like I already had Alzheimer's...it was quite depressing!:(:mad:

:thumbup::thumbup::p I am in such denial that I have to ask my family how old I am when I want the real answer. Otherwise I have to do the math.

Thanks everyone, you all have been so nice. I needed a pep talk today as I was feeling a bit axious. I do have many more years to go. I'm healthy, have 4 amazing kids, 4 cute fur-butts, and a great husband. My youngest is only 12 so I feel like my "babies" :rolleyes: still need me around. It's coming whether I like it or not so I have a choice. I can either be miserable or be happy. I choose... happy :thumbup: I think I am really just missing my parents who are now deceased. My dad, who just passed in 2009 would call me and sing me the whole birthday song. I know they would be proud of me. Just feeling gloomy I guess.
But you guys are the best. Thanks!!

My son still keeps me hopping; but I do wonder . . how it all goes so fast.

Considering people are living to 100 more often than before...just look at it as you have another 50 candles to look forward to in the future!:p

I so can understand your feelings about that wonderful big "50" I too have thought and thought about it as I get to be in that lucky "50" Club this year too. Try to plan something fun or maybe something you haven't done before just make it special...as special as you are and I know you will have a wonderful day. I am going to the mountains and staying up all night LOL until the next day...haven't did that ummmm since well you get the picture....Hugs

:Birthday3 Happy Birthday! Surprise, it's my birthday too (Feb. 12th), only I beat you to 50. I think it's ok at 50 to start counting the birthdays backwards though, so next year you get to be 49, haha.

Happy 50! Let me tell you- its not that bad! I've had almost a whole year to get used to being 50--and now 51 is creeping up in another few weeks! At least we've got our little furbutts to take our minds off the "age thing"!:D

I remember asking my Mom when she started to feel "old" (she was about 55 at the time) she said that she feels exactly the same as she did at 5 years old!! Just a bit wiser :eek:
