This is getting serious! Hubby went out on foot to grocery store 3/4 of mile to get milk and diapers. He wanted to take Mabel as a pack mule!! We're going to starve! Mabel is a puny mule! |
Hi there all! We got our snow today! Only (now remember, this is my "Mchigan blood" talking) about 3 inches... but it is still coming down! Lots of it! There are many schools already closed for tomorrow and I can't wait to get out and play in it! At the moment I have the heat cranked up and it is "bath time" .... I have one more to go. :D |
1 Attachment(s) I am NW of Knoxville and it is sleeting here right now. I LOVE the snow but HATE that this is our last snow day, I am a teacher. That means I can probably kiss the Spring Break Goodbye! :cry8: Where we live, the road is not paved, gets little attention from county road dept. and at the bottom of a steep hill. I am beginning to feel trapped with cabin fever. DH and I are both pacing around the house and the girls are in super hyper mode. :headspin: AND, if I don't quit going to the kitchen I am going to have to wear my lounge pants back to work! my road as of noon: |

1 Attachment(s) I got my dumb backside stuck in the ice yesterday trying to get back home from a friend's house in my neighborhood. I kind of forgot that I had to go back UP the hill I just went down. LOL. In my defense, when I left the house the roads were passable, but they iced over very quickly in the late afternoon. Today, I haven't seen a single person leave their house. The kids missed school again today, and they will be closed again tomorrow. With tomorrow's high only being 25, I very much doubt they'll be there on Thursday either. On a side note, Rhett was not nearly as thrilled with the snow this time as he was on Christmas day. That might have something to do with the fact that he kept sinking all the way down to his belly this time. |

That is a cute pic of Rhett. Cooper loves the snow, the deeper the better for her. Maddie is like Rhett in that she is okay with it as long as it does NOT reach her belly. lol:p |

Ice, Sleet & Snow! I have been away for a few days and am actually just now recuperating from my trip to Jackson, MS and back Sunday. My son had shoulder surgery and needed help moving back into his dorm. After I got everything inside, I helped make his bed and get everything situated for him. In that short time, my car doors froze shut! Had to get tough to get them open. So much sleet & ice everywhere! Son wanted me to get a hotel for the night but I figured it would be worse by morning with all the slushy roads icing over. Going home was tense though! I had icicles growing on my side mirrors, bumpers and the entire car was encased in a sheet of ice. As I drove back I was cheering as the external temp went up, up, and UP! When it got to about 35 degrees the ice started melting off my car, the pretty icicles were falling off too. They were also falling off cars IN FRONT OF ME! Those pretty little icicles turned into not-so-pretty little projectiles as they came flying towards me! Had to get away from the semis as huge pieces of ice were coming off of them. The sleet turned into a downpour of rain the rest of the way. Still, seeing the temps keep going up was encouraging -- closer to home! You wouldn't think there was such a drastic difference in 30 to 40 degrees but there really is. That is a very important range right there! Means the difference in sleet/ice/frozen overpasses (lots of wrecks) to chilly rain and maybe a little hydroplane concern. I could not move yesterday from back spasm! Too long in tensed up position I guess. I am getting too old for this -- sure wish we had an airlines that flew from here to Jackson & back! I am so glad I live in Florida! I don't think I will be going back up there until after Spring thaw! This southern girl has forgotten how to drive in ice & snow and does not want to relearn. :) Saying a prayer for all you hearty northern folks that handle this weather every winter! I just don't have it in me anymore. I remember so many asking why we lived down here after the hurricanes came through -- here is just one of many reasons! :) |
