| Teresamag | 01-03-2011 04:59 AM | I got the black & white "classic" nook for Christmas. I think I have it all figured out but I'm frustrated by something and wondered if anyone else has this problem. In our area there are only a few free wi-fi places. I thought I would be able to use the nook anywhere that has wi-fi. When I tried to register the nook for the first time on my hospital's wi-fi (I'm a nurse) it wouldn't work (I tried for 2 days) so I went to Panera. At Panera it would say the nook was connected but wouldn't register. After spending 30 minutes on Friday & 30-40 minutes on Saturday with customer service while sitting in Panera we just couldn't get it to work (even tried resetting to factory settings and a "hard reset). Customer Services said it might be the wi-fi settings in these places - even though I saw people on their computers. So, on Saturday I drove 85 miles to the nearest Barnes & Noble. It worked immediately in B&N and I was able to download all the books I wanted (I had 11 free ones ready to download). Have any of you had any difficulty in connecting to the internet by wi-fi in any businesses? I just wondered if Customer Service was correct that some wi-fi settings might not support my nook, if so that is going to be very frustrating since I can only go to a few businesses in my area for free wi-fi. I didn't get the 3G nook since I thought I wouldn't have any trouble using the wi-fi.
