Does anyone own the Barnes and Noble "Nook"? I just bought it for myself as a birthday present. I was thinking we could share tips and tricks or even "lend" books to each other? :) |
I just go my Kindle from Amazon on Friday, otherwise I'd love to swap advice and lend books. :) |
I just love the ereader!!!! How do you like the Kindle? I wonder if we can swap between different ereaders?! I'll google it...LOL |
How do you like The Nook??? I am asking for one for Christmas. Boyfriend is inclined to buy the Kindle and I told him not to because I want The Nook. (he tends to buy whatever is cheaper, not necessarily what I want) but I looked at them both and just love The Nook. Hows the book prices? How does the Lending work? I'd be glad to lend with you when I get mine! :) |

I don't think Kindle lets us share books.....that's something that's coming in a few months. That would be neat, though. |
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the nook! I really like it because you can lend books for up to 14 days, which saves on book money. Plus the books are much cheaper! I went with what was cheaper too, but I'm a big fan of B&N. I actually got a Nook for my nephew and my son, so we can use the LendMe feature. I bought the B&W older version of the Nook and I don't see when the color one is needed. To me, it was just a new way for them to make more money. Let me know if you get the Nook and we can share! Oh I will!!!! Yeah I would just get the B&W one too. I don't need a color one. I also won't buy the 3G one since I have a Droid and carry a data plan so I can get online with that whenever I need to. I just want the B&W one bc of the eInk reading and the anti glare screen so I can read it outside in the sun! |
That's why I didn't get the color one either. I have a laptop at home, I have internet access at work and I have an iphone with a data plan. So I have access to internet at all times...LOL! |
i dont know much about it but i love my kindle, its attached to me at all times! lol |
Ever since I got mine, it's been in my purse at all times too...LOL. I still have to figure out the LendMe feature, but I can't wait to try it with someone. :D Quote:

So did any of you end up with the Nook? If not, maybe we can swap book titles?! |
I got an ipad for christmas, and I think there is a nook app. I don't know much about it yet. |
I can't stop reading now that I have a nook. I read more than ever and I think it's because the books are at my fingertips, instead of having to go to the store. I thought I would miss having a "book", but I don't.... |
I've had my nook since June and I love it! I haven't tried lending books yet, but I like that I can search online and download a new book whenever I finish reading. I've also taken advantage of a lot of the free downloads at b&n, although sometimes I think you get what you pay for. |
I got a Nook for Christmas. Still trying to figure it out though! |
I have the Kindle(L-O-V-E it)...they now let you lend too, but not between devices. |
Well maybe we can suggest titles to each other? |
I'm currently reading "An Echo in the Bone" by Diana Gabaldon. It's part of the Outlander series. It probably wasn't a good first choice for the nook. |
Right now i'm reading "Hunger Games" series that's for teens, but VERY good!!!! |

you have to know someone with the kindle i'm presuming. |
Nookie here and I love, love love my NOOK! I would love to have the Color NOOK but my Black & White Nook is not even a year old and it is in mint condition. |
Let me know if anyone wants to "share" "lend" with me. I can give a list of books I've got... :) |

ok on my way to check! :) |
I got the black & white "classic" nook for Christmas. I think I have it all figured out but I'm frustrated by something and wondered if anyone else has this problem. In our area there are only a few free wi-fi places. I thought I would be able to use the nook anywhere that has wi-fi. When I tried to register the nook for the first time on my hospital's wi-fi (I'm a nurse) it wouldn't work (I tried for 2 days) so I went to Panera. At Panera it would say the nook was connected but wouldn't register. After spending 30 minutes on Friday & 30-40 minutes on Saturday with customer service while sitting in Panera we just couldn't get it to work (even tried resetting to factory settings and a "hard reset). Customer Services said it might be the wi-fi settings in these places - even though I saw people on their computers. So, on Saturday I drove 85 miles to the nearest Barnes & Noble. It worked immediately in B&N and I was able to download all the books I wanted (I had 11 free ones ready to download). Have any of you had any difficulty in connecting to the internet by wi-fi in any businesses? I just wondered if Customer Service was correct that some wi-fi settings might not support my nook, if so that is going to be very frustrating since I can only go to a few businesses in my area for free wi-fi. I didn't get the 3G nook since I thought I wouldn't have any trouble using the wi-fi. Teresa |
I was able to get onto the Wi-Fi at my work and the Wi-Fi at the ski lodge with no problems.... but I have not tried anywhere like Panera or even B&N yet. |
That must be really frustrating for you! I have not had wi-fi issues either but have only tried it at my house. |
