I can't believe how I got hooked into this, but I am going to be the Santa Claus at the Kildeer Petsmart (On Rand Road near Quentin) on Sunday, Dec 18 from 12-5 pm. I help out at the Green Pup Shelter, and was asked by one of the ladies if I would do it, as they get a % of the cost of the Picture of the Dog and Santa Stevie. I asked her why her Husband woold not do it as he has more of a Santa type body than I do, and she looked sad and said he will not do it. So, I saaid, fine....anything for the dogs. So all the Chicago and Suburban area people, stop on by and say hi to Santa and have your Pups picture taken. Carlo will be there with Maxinr to welcome all the dogs.

Way to go Santa Steve! Be sure to post a picture, lol. You are the best to help out the pups!

Sorry, we can't be there, but we got the flyer in our bag yesterday and just told my DH we be at PetSmart in Dec for Santa picture with Zhoie.

Steve, you are truly an angel to dogs!! Bless you for doing that stint! I cannot think of a nicer Santa for the furbabies!! :)

I am going to see if I can squeeze this into my day~my Birthday! :D I've also got plans that evening to meet with another YT member for TexMex in the city. It wouldn't be that bad of a trip from Gurnee back to the city. What a great fun thing to do for the doggies. :)

Very kind of you to give your time and acting skills! I bet you will have fun too! Wish I still lived up there in Illinois, I would swing by and see you. Well, on second thought, it is starting to get cold up there, maybe I don't wish I still lived there. I still remember the year I broke my wrist scraping ice that had built up on my windshield! And the day when I was downtown Chicago near the MEPS building and a winter wind circled through the buildings and smacked me upside a brick building. I had brick marks on my cheek for a week! I don't miss Chicago winters! Ah but the rest of the time -- what a city!

For you out of staters, thanks so much for the words. If I never joined this forum, I doubt I would do this. Remember, I can make myself look foolish with out a Santa Costume.

That's so kind of you, I didn't know Petsmart shared the money with shelters, even more reason to get a picture with Santa. You'll make a great Santa, I know you have a twinkle in your eye!

This very much like you. I don't think they had to do much talking for you to volunteer. Generous hearted people always just do things that are right.

No, unfortunately, no Pigs, but that does give me an idea next year in TX. In Dec, shot a pig, donate money to a Rescue for each pound.

Just dogs of all sizes and shapes. Hope no Great Danes will want to sit on my lap!

No Mary, I made her work at least 3 minutes to get me to do it. At least she did not tell me that I was their last choice!

You have a good point. But they are alot heavier than he is. Imagine a 230 pound Male English Mastiff? Carlo is heavier enough at 137.

Today I got to cut back his new Steroid in 1/2, so that should help is attitude. He now gets .5 ML of Triamcinolone daily. Still doing real good. As I said, if you did not know he had cancer, you never would guess. The neighbors can't believe it when they see him walking.

I know what you mean.

I stopped grooming larger breeds and only taking toy breeds as clients. My back just couldn't take anything over 15 pounds.
