| Surviving the first week of college! Ok, so I started college this week and I've been out of school a longggg time! Overwhelmed is my current state of mind! Psych & English will be a challenge! APA, MLA, I'm not familiar with all of this! Also, one of my classes is an Excel class. After registering, I found out that MAC is not supported on the site the college uses to run this course. I need a glass of wine!

| Sounds like a challenge, but I know you are up for it! Do you like your new classes? What is APA and MLA, by-the-way? (Guess I am showing my age, since I do not understand "college speak" anymore. )

| Oh no....I feel your pain. I'm going back to school AGAIN myself in January. You can do it...soon you'll get into a pattern and just work through it day by day. I took an online program once and my computer got stolen. My school let me "borrow" a computer of theirs. Is there such a thing at your school? BTW, APA and MLA is a writing format for research papers..etc. I'm not looking forward to that either...I haven't written a paper in over 15 years

| You can do it! Hang in there. It will be tough at first but you will adjust. I went back to college at 30 and graduated at 34 with my bachelor degree. I am going again now working on my masters. I will be finished in the spring and am glad. It was difficult for me at first but I adjusted and made it just fine. A great site for APA help is here: Purdue OWL: APA Formatting and Style Guide I use it all the time. English will make you do MLA but most of the others will require APA. So good luck to you!!!

| You will adapt in no time! I still remember heading to college a month after I left active duty after 2 years in the Corps and it was the time of Rioting, long hair, and callying me a baby killer on campus. Back then, I was not as kind and gentle as I am today. It took all I had to adapt without putting a hurt on a hippy. Fortunately, I had other Vets there, and we were our own support group. I went year round (carried 20 Quarter hours), and graduated with a BA in less than 3 years, and back in the Corps. Yes, a true glutton for punishment. 72-76 was the worst time to be on active duty with cutbacks, and low moral, as well as race issues, etc. |

| Thanks for all the encouragement! For those who asked APA & MLA is formatting and I feel lost figuring it out, lol! Thanks for the link that was posted! I think I'm going to call the school for tutoring help! I'm sure things will improve once I get into a routine and get a better handle on what I'm doing!

| Thanks for the information - I needed it. Shoot, when I was in school we wrote papers on a typewriter. So, I am really out of date with this stuff.

| Sounds about right! Paper formatting and referencing is so frustrating. I mean, who really cares? As long as your sources are listed so you aren't plagiarizing, what's the difference? Waste of time! I think there is a website that does it for you. Is is Calvin maybe? I have been using MLA this semester and used APA last winter. Still have not much of an idea about what I'm doing. Well, that was a nice rant.

| You'll get back in the grove in no time. I went back in my late forties, and I loved it.
