I can't say I have much o fa problem with Walmart. One of the ones near us is VERY trashy, but the others are pretty clean (all things considered), the savings are GREAT, and the employees are pretty helpful, IMO! We live in a nice suburb though, so that could be why we don't have a problem. Also, one of my FAVORITE things is that you can get REALLY, REALLY nice acrylic nails done for like $16, where normally I'd pay $45. Whenever I'm doing something "special" where I want to have nails, I go right to walmart to get them done. |
I always spend way more than I want to, always get overcharged on at least two items everytime and don't catch it till I get home (there goes any savings!), I feel bad for the employees... low pay, kept under 40 hrs so they can't collect any benefits, it's depressing. The quality of most their products sucks: hence the cheaper prices. No more crafts/material dept:( but in a way that's a good thing, bc I won't have to wait over 30 minutes or more for someone to cut the material for me! I can still find bargains online, and purchase cute doggy clothes from our own fabulous YT Vendors, and get treated more fairly and don't have to drive to do it. So I save on gas and time. Last trip for meds I stopped at the Dunkin Doughnuts for one of their new drinks... got a pretty intense case of diarrhea thankfully after I got home. So I don't feel the need to do that ever again. Leary of the silly doughnuts too! My new game is to go in only when I have no other choice, and come out spending under $20.00. (exceptions made for stupid cheap stuff I have to have!) Or, if I just feel like shopping (also called exercise), I'll take a cart, shop to my heart's content, use the price checkers that never work, get frustrated and leave the cart wherever, and go home! I really had to do that once but left the checkout line bc I had to meet the daycare bus at home, the the checkout process was clogged as usual. I shop the childrens sale clothes alot for furbaby stuff and hair ties. If I see a dress on clearance for a dollar or two, I get the largest size (more material, unless it's something alterable) and go from there. Last winter I scarfed up 4 Ravens Football cheerleader dresses (NFL Logo and all!)$5 each! 3 to alter, and one a total remake for my little dude! (he don't do ruffles or lace!) Keeps me busy enough I hardly miss the crafts/sewing dept at all!:p Summing up... more bad than good at this point in time. We give WalMart many :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown . :D Venting feels good! |
They have everyone hooked and have driven most of the competition out of business so they no longer need to pander to the customer's needs, wants or desires. Ours is going down the tube too. They hjave been reorganizing for the past 3 months and I think that is a disguise for removing half the inventory that was not bringing in the bucks per square shelf inch needed. Ours seems to be moving closer to a Sam's everyday. More bulk and less specialty items. :( I am spending alittle more and shopping at Publix for groceries. |
I like Target's setup better, however I feel bad for the employees of Wal-Mart. The company has been tough on their loyal employees for years. I'm lucky enough to have a wonderful fabric store that is still open around me. I shop at Aldi for some things, and Harris Teeter for others. When the hubby changes my oil, he finds the cheapest prices on my oil at...you guessed it, Wal-Mart. {I have bad panic attacks when I am in a crowded store, so there are few shopping experiences that are pleasurable to me. } Every person is different, and there is no reason for employees or customers to be disrespected. The world would be a better place if everyone showed consideration for each other. Christmas is fast approaching; I am going online to avoid the crowds. (O: |
Ouch. That sounds brutal (referring to the OP) I've honestly never had any real issues with Wal Mart. Part of doesn't know what I'd do without them :yelrotflm Honestly, I think Wal Mart has been greatful to me. I remember I bought my Playstation 3 there about 6 months ago and I got a three year repair free warranty for 20 bucks. (Which usually got 25 bucks a year elsewhere!) Maybe your Wal Mart is just afraid of losing customers  |

I can tell you first hand that many, many WalMart employees care. At my brother's funeral there were 2 bus-loads of employees that came for the viewing to honor my brother. They took there own time to show their respect for a boss that they loved. And the day of the funeral another bus-load of employees showed up. It did my heart good to see so many employees have such a respect for their manager. The next time you visit a WalMart please keep in mind that these people need their job. They are raising families, paying rent, buying food, etc. I believe that many of the employees would not work for WalMart if they could find a job elsewhere. Although I HATE WalMart, and, as I said earlier, will NEVER step foot in one again, please respect those that work there. They are just trying to do what is best for themselves and their families. I will now step down from my soapbox. Everyone have a good day! |
I feel bad for those who have crappy Walmarts near them:( Ours is outstanding! The employees could be a little more knowledgeable, but they couldn't be nicer:thumbup: If it weren't for Walmart, my family would not be able to survive. My sister is an assistant manager of a Walmart where she lives, and they've been very good to her. Her benefits are good, the pay is competitive, and there's room for advancement. Of course an employee will get out of it what they put IN;) |

My brother put everything into his job and lost his life. He worked the crazy hours and did more than any human being should be expected to do. He was a positive influence to all of his employees and strived to make their lives better. Please remind your sister, if she works to many hours and is exhuasted at the end of her shift, to call someone to pick her up. I don't want anyone else to lose their life because of exhaustion. |

I rather stick needles in my eyes than go to that dump :thumbdown I travel to Wegman's for my groceries and other places for my other stuff. More expensive, time consuming, etc., yes, but I don't have to deal with all that you mentioned. Walmart is just completely disgusting  |
I love Wal-mart but around here there are no other options. The nearest Wal-mart is about 20 miles away and it is my least favorite of all the Wal-marts in our area. Their produce is not all that great and they are always out of items I am needing. The other Wal-marts I enjoy going to are about 35 miles away. Sometimes they ask to see a receipt but that does not bother me. I understand that theft is a big problem. |

Thank you for your kinds words. |
Our Walmarts are hit and miss around here. And we are getting a brand new super walmart walking pretty close to where I live. I can only hope that it stays clean and nice. Without sounding like a total beiotch I just have to say that in the city where I live (Corpus Christi, TX) if you shop at walmart it is not going to be a pleasant experience, it's pretty ghetto. But across the bridge in Portland it is a nice modern new Walmart that has space to push a cart and great employees. It's all demographics for us. I avoid Walmart at all costs. Fortunatley we have a chain here called H.E.B. and they give Walmart a big run for their money! Not too many stores can say that! Viva HEB! Manolos Mom ~ I loves my mexicans :) They spice up my life! |

I got sidetracked, though. What I meant to bring up was the whole self-checkout thing. This irritates me and my husband to no end. Home Depot has them as well. We REFUSE to use them. When you checkout with a computer, you are denying a PERSON a JOB. Target does not have them! I feel if you do not care enough about your business to hire friendly people to greet me and tally my orders, then you don't need my business! |
I didn't know in how many ways Quote:
I hate that bottom-feeding, dump. Thanks for summing it up for me ;) That's what it is...a low-life magnet. What a nightmare. Once, I thought I was going to get beat up over a bathroom rug . Ugh! |
