Another wedding question- the gift I'm making my bff's wedding gift, and it's getting down to the wire (which is why I haven't been very active on YT in a while!). When should I give it to her? The rehearsal dinner? Do people bring the gifts at the rehearsal dinner? All the bridesmaids are getting ready at her mom's before hand, would that be an ok time to give it to her? This is the first wedding I've attended since I was a flower girl like when I was 6 or something, seriously. Thanks. |
Bump! |
The wedding gift is usually taken to the reception after the wedding. There is usually a table set up for these. If not a reception, then a table is usually set up @wedding & because some attend wedding, but not reception. Have Fun! |
Thanks! I guess I'll keep it in the car till the reception then. :) |
But you say you are making a gift. Maybe you should bring it her before the wedding so she an really enjoy the time you took to make it. After the wedding all they want to do is go on their honeymoon. Maybe she won't really get a good chance to look at it and enjoy it. Just a thought, it's the right time when you give it to her not protocol you know. |
It's really not uncommon for people (attending or not) to send gifts in advance to the couple's house. The more gifts that people bring to the actual wedding, the more that has to be moved back to their house after the wedding. Since a lot of couples leave the wedding, head right to a hotel, and leave from the hotel for their honeymoon the next day, it's a friend or family member responsible for transporting all the gifts brought to the wedding, which means the gifts realistically may not be opened until after they return from their honeymoon (assuming they take one). I think you'd be fine giving it to her before the wedding. :) |
I think when to deliver the gift can vary. If nothing else, check with her mom and see what they would prefer. Could be it would be easier if gifts were given to the bride beforehand sometime because of space issues at the wedding/reception site or they might just prefer to have gifts delivered ahead of time as someone else previously mentioned, so they can have time to appreciate them. Mom or maid/matron of honor would probably be the best to advise you. |
Ok, now I am thinking I will give it to her after the rehearsal dinner then. Thanks guys. |
Oooo! What are you making? :) I wanna know. |
I'm making a memory book. I did a cross stitch of their "logo" their initials intertwined and two birds holding them up, and then their names and the date underneath. Then I'm gonna put it on the album and cover it in silk hopefully if I can find the right shade. Their wedding is kind of vintage theme not frilly fufu, so I hope it will turn out nice. |

It sounds beautiful & very thoughtful. I'm sure I speak for others when I say we'd love to see pics when you're done. |

A part of the cross stitch part got dirty!!! What do i do?? It's light, but still you can tell! The look of the book is very streamlined and clean, but now it's dirty! eek what should i use to try to clean it up? Help! |
Maybe try that Dryel stuff? It's a "dry cleaning" product that works in your dryer. That is if it's able to go in a dryer. Maybe someone else will have another idea  I hope you're able to get it clean! |

Go and enjoy yourself knowing your gift has been delivered and you do not have to worry about it, |
2 Attachment(s) Ok, it's done, but I can't use dryel bc it's not able to go in the dryer. You can see it above the bird on the left :( I'm giving it to her in a plastic protective covering, it's ugly, but it will help keep it from getting any more stains. I also decided to put a little embroidered heart and my initial P on the inside, like kind of signing my work, but I didn't totally love how it came out, and it's a bit crooked :(. What do you guys think? Do you think they will get it, that it means "love, Priscilla"? Bc the fiance's name also begins with a P. Did I make a mistake? If you guys think it's better without it, I can take off the inside lining and just redo it plain. |

Wow, Girl......it's just Beautiful!! What a thoughtful gift & to incorporate their logo will really be Special to them, I have no doubt. Why change a thing. |
It's beautiful! Don' worry about your signature being crooked, that's what makes even more treasured-it's handmade and personal. :) Can you try turning the label upside down into a plate or flat surface of salt? Believe it or not, salt will draw out any oils or dirt from cross stitch. Also you can try blotting with club soda but be very careful on getting the club soda onto the colored thread just in case the color bleeds. Use a soft absorbent terry towel. I used to cross stitch alot and the salt trick was from a class that I took when I was learning how to frame cross stitch work. It worked on a wedding sampler that I did that took a year to complete. Also, since it is for your bff, I don't see anything wrong with giving it to her early, before the wedding so she can enjoy it. :) |

Maybe try a q-tip if you're going to use club soda on a very small spot at a time. Good Luck! |

Thanks guys, and thank you Bo for the salt tip. I'm going to try that. :) |
I like it just the way it is. If you're worried about them not getting it's Love Priscilla, how about adding your last name initial too? |
I was thinking about that too, but since the heart and the P weren't totally straight, I was afraid adding another letter would make it even more obvious. |
