Any Old House Owners Here? 4 Attachment(s) I am the proud owner of a 1912 Craftsman bungalow and was wondering if there are any other YorkieTalkers on here that also own an old home. Anyone out there? I love looking at pictures and talking 'old house'. Here are a couple pictures of my house :D 1. The front of the house before we moved in. Please ignore the previous owner's junk  2. One of the rooms with finished floors. 3. The beautiful original windows... NOT energy efficient but they are staying! Can't choose efficiency over character and beauty :p 4. The original cabinets. Also staying... we love them and the character they bring the house. |
I LOVE Craftsman bungalows. My favorite style of architecture. I have owned an old Colonial style house and a Queen Ann Cape style house...both in New England. Maybe some day I will have a craftsman. I love older houses. We now live in a 1952 ranch/hacienda style house...it fits the Southwestern setting. It has some lovely details. |
Our is a 1929 Bungalow. |
I LOVE old houses! Your's is beautiful. I'm jealous. |
Love your house... I also like the yellow. I have a 1939 Cape Cod. |
Well stand back ladies because I have an 1987 home previoulsy owned by an elderly bachelor! :p I love old homes. :)Your house is beautiful. I am pleased to see that you are keeping all the original character. It makes me so sad to see these homes ripped of thier original original details. |
3 Attachment(s) I do! We live in a early 1900s (1904-1907) Sears and Roebuck Craftsman Bungalow - complete with pocket french doors and the original claw foot tub! It has a lot of really neat features in it. Certainly cannot find houses with this kind of character anymore. We have done a lot of work to it and are just in love with it! |

I know... I see all these people updating windows and replacing the floors... what a waste of character :( I hope to bring back the woodwork to the original finish and keep as much character as possible. |

I LOVE old homes & all the pics are beautiful! Houses are just not made that way anymore! My dream has always been to have a vintage craftsman, victorian, anything with character & details! Every time I go anywhere I always look to see if they have vintage home tours! Sigh, maybe one day! |

I lived in a Chicago bungalow built in 1919 and owned by a friend. Took many years off of my life stripping paint off of woodwork and windows. :p Loved the leaded glass windows, plaster walls, and extensive woodwork and built-ins. Sadly, many of the bungalows in the Chicago suburbs have been torn down and replaced with "mcmansions" that are too big for the lots. |
1 Attachment(s) Awww... your home is gorgeous! I just love the color and the windows and the kitchen and all of it! You are sooooo lucky! We have a 1920 farmhouse style home and we love it to pieces. It's a work in progress and my hobby. When I first saw it my initial reaction was OH NO!!! not with this kitchen and WHAT'S THAT SMELL?!? Well, that was 5 years ago and I wouldn't trade it in for a villa. Oh... and actually it's name is 'Villa Vanilla'. When we moved in I had a dream in the first night where the house talked to me, bid us a warm welcome and told me it's name is Villa Vanilla...LOL! I renovated the whole house single handed (my dh is a scientist and if he would have helped we would have probably not yet finished the first room... ;)) but last year we had to go to ABQ and rented the house to a dear 'friend' of mine who paid a minimal rent and was supposed to take care of it while we were gone. To keep a long story short, I'm renovating the whole house again... which is kinda fun b/c I can change whatever I like. Since we are on a very tight budget I developed a talent that could be called "design on a nickel"... So if you need some ideas how to do things really really cheap just ask! I lately started to redo my kitchen which was a 1950s blah affair and now it looks like a Tuscan style one. I haven't taken pics yet but they will follow... |
I love old houses too, but it feels quite creepy :( |
