This seems to be infecting a lot of people lately. I had the same thing happen to me over the weekend. If you follow the instructions on the website below, it will remove the malware. There is a link to a spyware/malware program that will remove it from your computer. How to remove AV Security Suite (Uninstall Guide) Its a terrible virus! You can get infected just from visiting a website! They are able to insert it into ads on sites. The site above also suggests keeping software and Windows updates current. I don't have my laptop on all the time, so I think I sometimes skip the automatic updates. |

in my case it's in my memory and no scans will remove it - I reasearched it in detail and it's beyond what I'm able to do on my own and I tried EVERYTHING - then what it did was enable other trojan programs to download in the background - which I'm kind of still dealing with - but like I said - Matt and I didn't address this particular one and I DO need to get it out of my memory or I'll be back where I started |

A trojan appears to run as a normal program but then allows unauthorized access to your computer. It can allow hackers remote access to your computer. It doesn't always disrupt you working on your computer...but is doing things that are bad behind the scenes. AV Security Suite looked like a legit program and was telling me my entire computer was infected. It was prompting me to enter my credit card to activate it so it could remove all the "viruses" (which didn't exist -- IT was the virus!) |
Villette, I am so glad that it is now working. I had a feeling that when I ran into Matt that he was a good guy. Quote:

I am so glad Matt was able to help you at a price you can afford. It's great to see everyone pull together to help one another. I will certainly use Matt if the need arises. |

So glad you're doing much better Villette! And thank God for good friends that help out in a pinch! :D |
I'm so thrilled at this great news! So happy for you, Villette! I also feel a sense of security that I have Matt's website bookmarked and know there's someone to turn to in case I run into trouble! PTL that Karen found you, Matt! I will be referring you to anyone in need of help. Welcome to YT, Matt! You'll have to tell us about your yorkie and post pictures! So glad you joined here! I'm doing the happy dance here! |
What a happy ending and I'm glad this thread has been tagged, so that we can easily find it. AllDogBoots that was great you could find someone to help, and Matt welcome to Yorkietalk! V, I'm really glad you can at least use your computer now. I know I've had Trojans in the past, and the security program doesn't get rid of some, but merely quarantines it. I thought this was acceptable. |
Amazing! Bookmarked the site. |

Bookmarked Matt's site. |
Yea, its always bad to have 2 different anti-virus programs running at the same time, this is how computers get infected more often, cause the two programs are too busy fighting one another to catch anything trying to install on your computer. |

I like both of them, but I'm more of a fan of AVG, it doesn't slow the computer down as much as Avast. Looks like we might need a Ask Matt technical questions thread :) |

I am an advocate of Spy Bot Search & Destroy (matt??? LOL) It is great at detecting and getting rid of spy - and other mal- ware Not "viruses" per se... but spy ware and all that other garbage (pop ups) etc. can really slow things down And its free :) |
yes, Spybot Search & Destroy is a good one to use, Their is also a feature I like bout it that seems to stop spyware/malware from installing in the first place, its called immunization, run that after every definition update |

these things also can easily be spread thru facebook and other networking sites according to Matt - I'm already off to refer Matt at Remote Tek Support to friends - on Facebook and in person. I don't go on and on about things but I swear - I would be computerless without his help. It was plain outstanding I had a friend offer to help me locally - but I wouldn't have had a computer for at least a week :(.....plus I wasn't all to sure if I wanted to turn my computer over to him AND he'd have wiped out my hard drive - With Matt - we were able to keep my programs - email AND online access without all the work of wiping out my computer and starting fresh He had me running the same night I contacted him thru his site. No loss of anything and so far - all is working ! |
We named him Drako, cause my fiancee has a thing for D names, and cause I like Dragons |
Tech Question? Hello. I am here but I don't know for how long... Been having problems for past 2 weeks... 2 Trojans recently blocked by Avast, screen freezes, mouse hijacked, systems resources low, etc. Just deleted Temp int files, ran Spy Bot, Spy Bot detected a Rootkit and recommended immediate deletion... looks like rootkit was part of Avast???, uninstalled Avast..., installed AVG. ( which I had used before idiot-in-law changed it to Avast and lost my email), changed the battery in the mouse. Is there more I need to do, or just wait and see how things go from here? Drako.. cool name, cute pup! :D |

I would run defrag, but sounds like you have something lurking in the background, If you would like we can setup a time to do a remote support session. Remote Tek Support |
Thanks... I'll go there in a bit...(waiting on the school bus!) |
