Trying to sign up for a facebook account

which makes me nervous anyway...virus..accounts being hacked, etc.

Anyway, I get through the first screen..name..date of birth...the next screen has my email address and is asking for my password to my email address.

Are you kidding me?? Why should I have to give away my password, that sounds scary!

No, they don't want to know your email password, lots of people make this mistake though, so don't feel bad. Make up a new password for facebook.

Lot's of sites want your e-mail address, even Yorkietalk, and then you have to make a password, but it shouldn't be the same as your email.

I thought the same thing too. I do however keep mine super private. No one can see anything about me that I don't want them to. Plus, I only made it so that my brother could talk to me while he was at work. I have no use for it now.

As long as you don't click on a lot of the links Facebook is fine. You can access your address book to add friends but you can also just search people you know.

Now that's scary. I signed up a months after my brothers did and they both said *my* FB is different from theirs. I guess it changed again. They never asked me for that.

Now I guess I have an entire page dedicated to Twilight. Hahaha.

The scary part is sometimes you can get a virus that redirects your computer. It can redirect it to a fake facebook, or even fake bank. The reason why it's important not to give them the name of your password is once they have your email account they can change the password on any of your accounts, and all your email will come to them. They can change your passwords, on different accounts, such as ebay or banking. What's the facebook link you are using? Give the complete address.

I do... I was hacked once by someone that has way too much time on their hands and is really just quite the wh*re. Anyhoo..... I use my real name here and there. The only thing I space the T in my name. PLUS you cannot searh for me, I dont think.

I tried to post the address, but I clicked it and it goes right to my page and then I'm afraid everyone on here can see it.

I'm on a mac and supposedly can't get a virus????????????????????

As long as it was www. facebook . com, you are ok. I think the page your on is setting up membership. Did you ask it to import friends from your email address book? That may be why it asked you for your email password. I personally wouldn't do it that way.
