Kennel Name??
 

Thought I'd ask my yorkie friends to help with some suggestions. Totally stuck on this.

We are breeding our female bull terrier in July for our first time. So I need some help with some ideas of a manly name.

any ideas anyone??? :cool:

Kennel names are usually based on places or people that are important to you, so think about something that is meaningful in your life.

Is this the same bull terrier that killed your little Stormy? If it is, you might want to rethink this because you wouldn't want to breed in aggressive behavior. This is important with any breed, but especially with bull terriers., These dogs have gotten a bad rap because of their temperament, and you wouldn't want to contribute to that.

Here we go again!! It wasn't the dog that killed Stormy. I'm pretty sure if her boyfriend left the room for a second he definatly would have heard some yelping if this dog bit and killed Stormy.

Anyway good luck with your breeding. Your baby is very cute and will make a great mommy!

We have beaten this subject to death in previous posts. No need to rehash Stormy's death.

She just needs a name for her kennel that's all. We just need to stick to the subject.

This is all I'm saying. I know Nancy 1999 is very knowledgeable and I have used her advice many, many times but I don't think it is in good taste to continue to bring up Stormy's death.

She didn't ask if she should breed her she asked for suggestions for a kennel name is all .

I had no idea the subject had been beaten to death. EXCUSSSSSE ME. Please feel free to forward the thread where it was discussed. In the future, you could just say, "This was discussed in this thread."

JMDT, are you seriously asking dog lovers to back off? In this case it may be a bull terrier, and not a yorkie, but it's all the same. If someone (not accusing you yorkie mama) is going to breed any dog indiscriminately, you better believe passionate dog lovers will question their motives. Not accuse, but question. I think Nancy's post was respectful. She didn't call yorkie mama any names, accused her of being a byb, or anything like that. It was a concern and she asked. That's it.

Back on topic:
I agree with Nancy pants, go with something that holds some meaning to you. Or, something significant of the bull terrier breed.

:thumbup: Breeding the bull terrier has never been talked about. That is what Nancy1999 was referring to...not Stormy.

I meant no disrespect please believe me. I just know how devistated she was when she lost Stormy and I didn't want to see it brought up that's all.

Please read back about how Stormy died and you will see what I was trying to say. She doesn't know how Stormy died.

I'm sorry if I offened anyone. I respect everyone's opinion and yes I am a dog lover also. Having 4 babies that are my light I am not trying to be confrontational. I think we should just stick to the subject that's all.

I'm well aware of that story. I don't believe anyone is at fault. It was a freak accident for lack of better terminology. I still don't think it warranted the type of reaction you gave Nancy. You could have PMed her or something else instead of making Yorkie mama's thread a story about the past.

I can understand why you feel this way. I lost 3 dogs in 2007 and I was devastated. I hated when people would bring it up.

Ok I just think that sometimes these threads go off on a tangent. She mearly asked if anyone had ideas for a name. I didn't bring up Stormy!!
If it was a freak accident which is what I thought too then why did it come up when she suggested breeding her female??

I didn't say you did, but you're reaction by saying "here we go again!" is what is driving this discussion.

I frequently read the breeders forum and there a lots of people who don't know that you should not breed dogs, who in the past, have shown aggressive tendencies. I didn't know this until I read it, but it something all the good breeders agreed upon, and I thought I would pass this information along. One breeder lately said how her yorkie had killed puppies before, but she "gave it another chance", and tragedy occurred the second time. These are horrible things to think about, but she did not know the dog should not be bred. I'll bet she wishes that someone had told her BEFORE it happened again. It's not just what the dog can do to the puppies, but also you are breeding this trait.

Maybe everyone should just drop it and get the thread back on target.

Breeding a Dog that has a previous history with aggression is NOT a good idea. :thumbdown I agree with Nancy.

These are the kind of threads that wear me out. I will think of some kennel names and PM you. I am out of this one.

I think what nancy is asking is should this dog even be bred? Just like how we would ask this of anyone wanting to start breeding yorkies. is this particular dog a good representation of the breed? Has it had the proper health testing? What is the dogs pedigree? etc etc.

Is there something in your area that is outstanding? A landscape or body of water? Or is there something else unique?

I didn't mean to be confrontational. I just know how hard it is to loose a pet and not wanting it rehashed over and over again. She asked for our opinion on a name that's all.

I didn't say anything about Stormy. All I'm saying is if this were a person thinking about breeding yorkies, the same questions would be asked of them. Is the dog to standard? Is it for the betterment of the breed? Have they done necessary health testing? It's something to think about before breeding, before thinking of a kennel name, not just the Op but everyone. She has not posted a lot about this bull terrier, so how would we know if it is up to breed standard?

I can't believe you would jump the gun Nancy and say the dog that KILLED Stormy. She did not KILL her! I don't know how many times I have to tell you all that what happen I am not sure, at the time of the incidient I thought perhaps it was my bull terrier because we had only had her a short time and didn't know her well. But It was NOT girl!! How come we have lived a year with Lola and nothing has happen? Not even an aggressive growl or ANYTHING! If you only knew, this dog has the sweetest personality! For God sakes do you think I am an idiot to breed a dog that is aggressive?

Do you people think I am one of these people who come on and just wants to breed for the hell of it! This dog was purchased for the reason of breeding her one day. This is what my husband wants to do. I have been talking with a VERY good breeder since last May about breeding, testing and MY DOG! She is getting all the proper health tests and screenings she needs to have. If this breeder thought she was too dangerous to breed she would tell me, but no she is willing to let me use her male as a stud. I'm sending my dog to her across the country for this breeding! We have been planning for a year for this, not just jumping into it. We've been saving money for an emergency c section and vet costs. I'm breeding with the intentions of having a pup that will be show quality so my husband and I can go to the shows and take off.

Don't judge before you know the whole facts. I'm very sad that Stormy is gone but if you all remember she had tons of health issues which I am 98% sure is what she died of. Can you all let her rest in peace? I think I've been attacked enough here already and even after a two months break I come back to this nonsense. That's just pathetic!

My yorkies are more agressive then my bull terrier!!!!! SHe doesn't have a mean bone in her body, she is so loyal and has an amazing personality. Goodness she lets my yorkies get away with anything around here. Yeah I know any dog an snap. ANY DOG CAN! But I am careful and we have considered all options and this is what we are doing and my mentor doesn't have a problem with it only you people do. Excuse me for asking for help on a name not to be questioned and unnessecary comments! Shame on you.

She IS up to standard and I actually have a mentor and doing health testing. I'm driving 4 hrs away for a darn hearing test because I want to produce good pups.

That would of been the way Nancy would of asked I would of answered all questions. But what happen to showing compassion on here? Is that showing compassion to blast THE DOG THaT KILLED STORMY. That to me is heartless. It's an accuastion that I as a person would go and turn a blind eye and breed an agressive dog. This is NOT an aggressive dog. We have never had a problem with her being mean EVER. My daughter jumps all around her and she could careless. She is always wagging her tail, grunting and giving kisses. Lola lays next to her and licks her face for 5 mins straight and my bull terrier just licks her back. If she was dangerous I would of noticed something within the year. She's never so much as even snapped at another dog. She plays with every dog she meets nicely and never has been vicious.


Like I have been hiding a vicious dangerous dog in my house just to breed. Comon people show some respect.

Excuse me Nancy but do you think that I am not prepared? Did you know with breeding Bull terriers you don't EVER leave the mama alone with the babies at ALL not even for a few minutes because with this breed they are known to sit and lay on the pups? This is why we are having our whelping area in our living room with an air mattress set up so my husband who is home 24.7 can be by their side. If he has to leave for just a SECOND he is to bring mama with him or seperate the babies. I've got a mentor and she knows the WHOLE story of what happen because she was already mentoring me at the time of the accident and she never believed my dog was to blame or that she is dangerous for breeding! This lady has been breeding for a long time and is a respected show breeder who travels Canada and Europe with her show dogs. Do you think a breeder likethis would agree to stud out her dog for me? NO! So please don't jump the gun and quote things I said at a horrible time when I was not thinking clearly and jumping to conclusions because I wanted to know what happen to my baby who died! What would you think if you came home, that would be the first thing in your mind too. I regret that I came on here and told you all right away, I should of waited til I calmed down and spoke with my husband about every detail of what happen. I've went over it and over it MILLIONS of times. From every sound she made to every single detail of what happen. Are you going to let me live this down or what? Keep putting it in my face what I said an hour or two after I found my dog dead?

I'm sure if JMDT didn't say " Here we go again " I would STILL feel that Nancy should of had a little more compassion with her statement. I love ALL my dogs the same, yorkie or not. And I find it offensive to call my dog a vicious killer because I am a HUGE animal lover and take pride in caring for my babies and am offended that people would think I would have a vicious dog in my home.

I told you all if she gave me reason she would be OUT! Not once has she given me a reason to get rid of her!

No one is calling your dog vicious killer. You stated you thought there was accident involving your bully and your yorkie, that's all Nancy was referring to. Maybe she not read a thread where you say you change mind and decide that she didn't do it?

No one is accusing you of being bad owner. :)
