Cell phones - Verizon Droid I'm eligible for an upgrade on my Verizon cell phone and am thinking about the Droid phone. I'm going to stay with Verizon as it is the best service for where we travel. Anyone here have a Droid, and if so do you like it? I am really looking for a phone that I can text easily - I have the old style phone now where I have to go thru each letter 3 or 4 times to get the letter I want :(. I would also like to get a phone that I can access and send email. I am not sure if I would surf with my phone but from what I'm hearing, I still have to get the data package in order to have email-is that right? Hubby has a blackberry (his crackberry, I call it, lol) and only uses it for email so he may be wasting the money ($29.99/mo) he paying every month. But at the same time, he said that if he could see the screens, he might surf web with his phone. Verizon has a deal right now, BOGO on the Droid. Any Droids users out there? Thanks in advance. :) |
One of my co-workers just upgraded last week and she got the Droid. I haven't used it so no feedback in that area. She is our IT person here at the bank so she loves all the technical stuff. She was just showing it to us Monday and she loves it. |
so glad you posted this as i am up for one too and looking at this and called verizon. The girl at verizon told me she recommends the incredible and if she were getting it that is what she would get and if not that one the eris as the eris is a little cheaper. I think i am going to get the Incredible as it has an 8mp camera in it |

I know that it's a touch screen and that is really appealing to me. The screen is also large so you can see it. |

If you do not want a pda phone then i recommend for easy texting what i have as it has a flip up keyboard and super easy to use which is the LG env touch as the keyboard makes texting easy. I am texting challenged never do it much but learning. Also you can get a data package on that phone and it has a tv as well if you want to get the data package and tv. I have avoided the pda as not sure i would use email feature or internet but thought i might try it out for a few months and if i do not like it i can go back to my env touch |

The key is are you going to use the internet and email or not as that will determine alot on which phone is best to get. |

the pda would be good for me as I carry a daytimer and it would help keep all my info in one place. I think the model phone you have is what a co worker has and I like it for the texting-she does a lot of texting and she loves it. With my doing my webstuff, I thought it might be smart to get a phone with web capabilities and if I had to get the data package I might as well get something that is going to last the 2 years and not be outdated as soon as I get itl  |

Just chiming in to say I'd also order your phone via Verizon's online store. It is soooooo much easier. Go into the store and get your hands on the phone, talk to the reps, etc. But then once you've picked what you want, get the model number and order it from their site. As someone already said, the rebates are automatically applied (so no waiting for something to come in the mail). Also, the last time I upgraded my phone, the "rebate" was going to be basically in-store credit not real money. They may have changed this as it's been almost a year since I upgraded...but something to keep in mind. Oh, and when I first ordered a phone online I was worried that activating it would be a hassle but it really isn't. You get instructions with the phone in the mail and you just call this 800 number and it does it for you automatically. Super simple. -C |
My stepmom just got it, got a buy one get one free. she loves it! She was on it for hours last night playing around. As a very loyal, lol, iPhone user... I love it too! If I didn't have the iPhone, that's the phone I would have. It's the closest you'll get to the iPhone. I hate pretty much every touch screen phone Verizon ever came out with but this one (Droid) seems GREAT! It caused me no problems. It's got all kinds of apps and even some same ones the iPhone has. It's a really cool phone. |

I have the new Droid Incredible and LOVE IT!!!!!I had a curve blackberry before the Droid. There is no comparison to me the Droid is much better. I'm a Realtor and use the email, texting and surf the web for real estate needs. Its awesome!! |

On the droid does it have a key board as that is my biggest frustration on the touch screen is it is not as easy to text for me as the key board is? |

I always get insurance on my phones as seems i always use insurance loll like dh leaving his phone on top of car and driving off - just little things like that. So the insurance is 7.99 a month on the droid as well. also the incredible has the fastest processor and why so much more due to 8mp camera and processor and suppose to be faster than iphone as i really wanted iphone but verizon has not come out with it yet:( The thing with iphone is you have to send out for battery and they do not have insurance on that phone so why i am leaning to staying with verizon and getting the incredible |

The droid rocks!!! Hi!! I have had the Droid for 3 weeks now. My dad has had his for 4 weeks and my bestfriend got hers 2 weeks ago :-) we are all addicts!!! I love how customizable it is. I got mine the day before the incredible came out and i was tempted to wait and get that but i have a rule that i NEVER buy a phone when it first comes out because they almost always have issues. the Droid has been out since Nov and I LOVE IT!!! Trust me if your husband was a BB user he will love the droid too. My dad and I are both BB converts :-) Good luck! |
Apps There are quite a few downloaded onto the phone when you get it. but there is something called Android Market where you can download games and all kinds of apps. you would be suprised how many of them are free. I have about 45 on my phone and i have only paid for 1 of them. |
here i go again :-) I got mine through Walmart.com and that is through Letstalk.com What this does is it's a middle man between Verizon and the customer. I got my Moto Droid for 19.99 Even if you both did that it would be cheaper then the BOGO. :-) |
