Shape-ups.....anyone tried them? Thinking about getting a pair......but, can they really do what they say? Anyone tried them out yet? |
I love mine!!! I think they do make a difference as I felt it the first times I wore them. They are so comfy! I also noticed when I would wear my flipflops that my feet hurt where before they didnt. I think by wearing the ShapeUps, it really did make a difference for me. |
I've been wearing them for a long time. They haven't done much for my weight, but my hips used to hurt real bad, and my knees and back, but not anymore. They seem to help with back and hip problems. My husband wears them too, same for him. We will continue to use them just for the pain relief. Though my husband did say that he noticed he had no pain at all snowboarding all season, and that is unusual for him, so maybe they are making us stronger. |
Ok, looks like I'll be getting myself some too. Thanks for all the comments. :) |
Where are you buying them from? I belong to the "Oh, my aching back" club of America! I've tried everything. And whenever I ask someone on YT about where to purchase.....I know it's cheating, because that someone has already done the research and found the best price. I'm not even a penny-pincher, but when I pay more than someone else.....it gags me HARD! |
Haven't decided where I'll buy from. They seem to be around $100 everywhere. Thought about ordering, but, probably better to actually try them on first. |
Ive also noticed I stand up straight more.... Walmart and Avon has their own version of it. The ones at Walmart are like 35, Avon 50. |
Target sells there own brand.. from Champion. They are $27.99! |
I am so glad you started this thread!!! I plan to get a pair and was wondering if they were worth it. I've read the reviews, and they sound perfect. They're about $100 here also. |
what are these? I have lower back pain and seasonal snowboarding pain! lol I refuse to take daily painkillers. |

I've seen them advertised and wondered about them also. I have chronic back pain and wondered if it would help. I also though have a bad ankle so wonder if they would aggravate that. I think this is the target brand: Women's Trim Step Rosina Fitness Shoes - Black : Target |
so is an expensive brand any better than a cheaper one? Am I the only one who thinks they look dorky? |
I bought a pair about 1 month ago, and love them. They are very easy to walk and run in. Also they are very easy on my feet and they also help with by back issues. I have been losing weight with them, but then again I am also exercising more now that my foot and back do not hurt while doing it. Either way, for me, it is a win-win, would definitey put out the money again. |

No. you're not alone in that thinking! I'm not sure about the quality or benefits from one brand to another but Reebok has a pair for shaping up and they look a lot more 'normal' to me. I'll be checking them out this week. EasyTone Reeinspire - Reebok |
here's an article i read on a couple different brands of butt toning sneakers Toning Shoes - Read Reviews of Popular Fitness Walking Shoes at WomansDay.com |

One thing is for sure...Shape-Ups are pretty cheap compared to most of the others in that link. |
I got a pair of the reebok shoes and if your a clutz like me with balance issues or if you have bad or weak ankles avoid these. I went with them b/c they looked more like a normal shoe, I refuse to wear ugly shoes that cost an arm and a leg no matter what they say they can do for my body. .... but I thought ok these look simi normal. I wore them a total of 3 times and every time i had some type of balance bang into a wall table or trip issue. I would say for those of you who are athletic or have some kind of sports skill should be ok. I passed them on to a friend of mine who coaches dance teams and she loves them. But then again she can tumble at age 35 too... |
Was delighted to hear about this thread. Since I was in the need of new walking shoes (the brand I was use to wearing and loved is no longer available) after reading this thread I decided to check out the Sketcher Shape Up Shoe. At first I did not like the feel and felt unstable after trying it on in the store, I quickly decided instead of walking about in the store with them on to first read the booklet that comes with the shoes, great that I did, it explained much of what the sales person didn't know. I will add the first pair with the right shoe was tooooo tight and uncomfortable, he brought out another pair, it really pays to try on a pair before purchasing..... tadaaaa...... after a few minutes walking within the store I purchased a pair. I purchased the Metabolize style, it was more comfortable for me than the other style Optimize. I am very cautious not to let myself roll back on the heels as I do not feel secure and am fearful of falling so am going to remain cautious when I wear them. I really like the feel of being able to walk without the feeling of my back and body being jarred with each step I take, more soft cushion comfort in walking in these. Beings that I have a bad back to begin with, then after lifting Jack's wheelchair in and out of the vehicle when we're out and about, moving him about in his wheelchair, I am hoping my back will benefit from these shoes. I will say again, that I am very cautious when wearing them not to roll back onto the heels as they then give me a feeling of being unstable. The booklet put emphasis on finding the center of balance a must in wearing them. I did find the booklet to be my source of making my decision to purchase them. Glad I did. There was a DVD with my pair on excercising, I watched it but since I don't need the excercise didn't really find it helpful for my own use. I just needed a really good walking shoe and think this will work for me. They are expensive but if they prove to be beneficial for me, they will be money well spent :) Thank you so much for posting this thread and am grateful someone told me about it. To all you Mom's out there, hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. Hugs, Patti and Jack and Girls. |
i don't own shape up since they look like Frankenstein shoes...but i do own a pair of reebok easy tone and love them! LOL |

I have the Avis brand and like them, but I think I would have rather paid the extra money for the sketchers ones. I think they would work better...they seem to have more of an "arch" to them. fyi..if you have a kohl's card, they carry the Shape Ups for $99. If you watch your mail, you should be getting a monthly coupon that has anywhere from 15-30% off your entire purchase, which could really help curb the price a bit!! |

I also have the Reebok easy tones and love them. They are so comfy and I just ordered the new Run Tones as well./ |
I would highly recommend the XF Shape Ups (specially those of you that don't like the look of the original Shape Ups). The XF is for Extended Fitness. These are shoes you can wear all day and they are a lower profile. I LOVE LOVE these ones. Also in the fall there will be a whole running line of these shoes that are the best! The accounts are so excited about these shoes and they are very technical. I can't wait to get a hold of these ones as well. Here is the link to the XF Shapeups I just got so you can see that they are lower profile.
