Ohhhhh Noooooo!!!!!! here we go again. :thumbdown here comes wilma now :( i cant wait for huricane season to be over  |
oh No please, dont tell me. Wilma you better turn around and go away. |
You are so right - can't believe this year they got to the 'W's |
Yes I heard that today on the news. when are they gonna stop. |
This will be our first hurricane since moving here in July...well, the first that could come our way. But...we'll be gone so we'll miss anything she has to give...which I hope is not much! |
man! i actually thought it was almost over!! already in the W's! i hope it turns around and never comes back! :( |
Yes we have to get prepared AGAIN! I am getting so tired of this! I just hope it goes away! |
I'm sorry. It's really been a terrible year weather-wise. Do you live on the west coast of Florida by chance? Not that it matters when a hurricane crosses the state... |

im in miami :( but i really dont know exactly where its going to hit  |
I'm in Miami as well. |
THAT Hurricane went from a Cat 1 to FIVE overnight !! It's another monster :( I hope you're all going to be ok !!! |
Ed called from offshore this morning. They are already evacuating the rigs in the Gulf. :( |
Oh, no! This is not looking good. They said this morning that this hurricane at Category 5 was the strongest EVER in the Atlantic basin... :( I'm so sorry you guys. |
I feel bad for the people of Punta Gorda who are just beginning to get their lives back together and are preparing for another hurricane. The only silver lining I can see at this point is that the strength is anticipated to diminish to about 105 mph winds (Cat 2) at landfall. I pray for the safety of everyone and hope they will begin evacuating NOW and not wait until the path becomes more defined. Lisa |
Im going on a cruise to that area in a about 2 1/2 weeks and I am kinda scared. I really wish the hurricanes would stop. :( |
i know!! it's kinda scary my parents are on a cruise right now down there and they are suppose to get back into FL on Friday..but then they are driving over to Ft. Myers to check on our house we are starting to build!! I hope they stay safe!! |
If any of you live in a hurricane prone area, and rode one out, how did your yorkie react? I live in a coastal area in SE Louisiana. Just north of Houma (Terrebonne Parish) if any of you know where that is. Otherwise, 60 miles southwest of New Orleans. My Lacey had died before this hurricane season had gotten in full swing. But, she did ride out a very memorable hurricane with me. ANDREW. Lacey was just 7 months old in August of 1992. And I had just turned 16 and was a junior in high school. I remember her clinging to my mom all night. And my mom sat in the bathroom all night with her trying to calm her down. I don't remember her barking or anything. But, I remember her shaking with freight. The winds were sustained at around 100 mph with much higher gusts. The eyewall only went 25 miles to our west, putting my town in the worst part of the storm. We were 8 days without power. So, we did not want to leave Lacey in the heat. So, we rode to Sears looking for a generator. The truck took a wrong turn coming from Houston and got lost. So, we ended up sleeping at Sears with Lacey! Yes, they let her sleep with us because of the disaster. They had 3 other Yorkies also spending the night at Sears. She clung to us and did not want nothing to with the other yorkies. Back then as a puppy, she was scared of other dogs. But, as she got older, she got brave and her boyfriend turned out to be a bloodhound named Buster. Anyway, to get back on topic, how do your yorkies act during bad weather? |
 winds are beggining to pick up :( its suppose to get here in the morning time |

cajungal...that was quite the hurricane story ...I was glad to read you had your baby with you the whole time - I bet mine would be the same way - hey - they cling to me in NON hurricane times :D ...but that was a great story and hopefully will help anyone going thru this most recent big Mama of a storm |
Worried in Miramar:( We are worried because Matise is still recovering from surgery. PLUS his medicine and food have to be refrigerated. We are VERY worried to lose power. We got ice and we have a cooler but we are worried if the power stays off for very long. Especially if it gets too hot and makes Matise uncomfortable. Oh I hate these dumb hurricanes. I hope everyone here in So Fla does ok. Good luck to all who are riding it out. |

Lacey got to see snow last Christmas. It snowed for the first time in 15 years here. Her little paws did not want to touch the cold snow. Lacey did not like the rain, cold or thunder. When ever it would thunder, she would bark like crazy. It has been a rough hurricane season. We got Katrina, but luckily since we are 60 miles southwest of New Orleans, we were on her weaker side. But, we still got winds in excess of 80 mph. Power out for 3 days. And tons of trees down. Lacey died on June 30th this year, so she was gone before any of these storms. We evacuated for Katrina. First time we ever evacuated for a hurricane threat. Then, we had Rita which hit 180 miles to our west, but we still got sustained tropical storm force winds. Some gusts clocked at 80 mph. and it did knock out our power for a few hours. And the storm surge flooded the southern part of my parish (Terrebonne) and almost everyone lost their homes due to flooding. Luckily I live in the northern part of Terrebonne. I hope everyone in the path of Wilma will be safe and hold your yorkies close. Most animals are terrified of bad weather. When I had my chihihihua she used to pant in bad weather. |
Thanks! Quote:
Thanks, I would have never thought about putting the towels in there to help keep Matise cool that's a really great idea. I love how you are always so positive and you have some of the best ideas! :) We tried to prepare and stock up for us but if we lose power for too long then maybe we can find a hotel with power to go to keep Matise comfortable. Thanks! :) |
I'm wishing everyone down there lots of luck. Take care of yourselves and let us know as soon as you can how you fared. :) |
