Yep...I had an exceptionally ugly one between me and the top of the basement landing today. Didn't see him going down..but certainly saw him going up. And once I saw him...I was too chicken to run past him. He was HUGE!!

And he didn't run!! It's like he knew I was trapped. And just to add insult to injury...he was perched about 3 inches above the "you can get in, but you can't get out" sticky trap we keep by the basement door for unwelcome visitors like him. My daughter was in the kitchen above the landing, and came to my rescue. The only thing I hate about Spring in Michigan is centipede's and June bugs!!

I had never even HEARD of them until we moved for the first time about 2 1/2 years ago. We moved into this ranch house that was VERY close to the woods, and was all cement (it was a pretty home though). But suddenly, there were these NASTIES all over the master bath!! Then every time I went into the hall bath there would be one trying to climb out of the tub!! I don't know how I lived in that house for a year and half LOL.

We moved into our now house one year ago tomorrow, and I've only seen a handful of them. Not like before...I'm telling you in that first house, every time I walked into the bathroom there were more! It was like a bad horror film haha.

I want to move to Manhattan. I hear those apartments have cockroaches :eek: Though I'd take cockroaches over these beasts any day.
I'd take cockroaches AND mice over centipedes!

Tell me about it!

My mom gets centipedes in her basement too, and they love that landing as well. Nothing like walking back up (or trying to!) and seeing one perched just inches from your face. I swear you're right...it's as though they know they have us trapped and are just mocking us!
