I find it funny that for the purpose of the census anything Latino isn't a "race." So I have no idea what to put! I joked around and my family has come to a conclusion. We're checking that yes, we're latino (Mexican American) but for race, I'm going to be Russian, my lil bro is Philipino, my big bro I decided will be native american, my mom and dad will be "chichareņo." :D They wanted to be "other":rolleyes:
All joking aside, I have no idea what to put for question 6.:confused:

Weird....mine only goes as far as question 7. Oh, wait.... it only goes as far as question 7 for persons 2-9. For person 1 question 8 is "are you Latino" and question 6 is "what's your sex." I was looking at myself (person 4) when saying question 6.

We sent ours back in today. It must have been easy for us cause hubby filled it out without any help from me.

It is easy. But, my race isn't a choice for race so I don't know what to say that would be technically correct.

For people who identify their race as Latino, Hispanic, Spanish or something else may include that in the write-in option.

That's what I did. I checked Latino (Mexican American) the question before race, but the census says for the purpose of this census Latino is not considered race.

Am I the only one who's wondering why they're pushing this census thing so hard this year? It's kinda creeping me out. I don't mind telling them how many people live in my house and their ages, but why do they need my name and especially my race? What does it matter what race we are? I kinda don't wanna send mine back... lol

The census is to keep records of the population trends in the US. It helps us nerdy History majors study the US history better. I've used a few old US census and one Mexican census for a research project. I know it seems like they're super nosey but I might be thanking you for participating in the future.
