Any home remedies for INSOMNIA! I am running on 1 hour of sleep for the last 3 days....my mind is constantly running and I can't get a wink of sleep! Someone please help me! |
I have insomnia as well, and I wish I had the miracle cure to give to you! I have found that they only thing that will help, sometimes, is a cup of soy chai. My problem is that I fall asleep fast, but wake right back up. My heart goes out to you, I know how hard it is to function after one of the cycles. I am currently in school again; and trying to concentrate on medical info is beyond exacerbating. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Best wishes......and if you find something, let me know; and vice versa!! |
Ok Ladies, this is going to sound REALLY lame, but here goes..... Everyone has an "off switch". You need to find yours and once you do you will be able to effectively turn off and go to sleep when it's time. I would recommend meditation. Then take meditation one step further and teach yourself how to relax. Once you can "relax on command" you will be able to find the OFF switch and simply go to sleep when it's time. The biggest part of this is learning to let go and to let your mind get "quiet". |
As many of you know i am a firm believer of holistic medicine, the Regular doctor wanted me to take lunesta when I told him i was having problems falling asleep, I have them right here I took one and the next day I was more tired and i awoke with a slight headache. I went to my Natural Remedy site and found this product I been using it off and on when needed and I like it very much. best of luck, I KNOW how hard is not to be able to get a good night sleep.Just be careful if you are lactose intolerant, since this product contains Lactose. me too! I have suffered from insomnia for a couple of years now. it is related to menopause, I think. I fall asleep for about 3 hours each night, and then that's it. I wake up, and toss and turn until it is time to wake up. Sometimes I am able to fall back asleep right before my alarm goes off! Unfortunately, I work, and so I do not have the option of staying in bed. I have tried OTC meds with some success. Exercise also helps. Not right before bed, though. If I exercise early in the day, I usually sleep well that night. I am getting a hot tub next week. I think it might also help me to relax before bed. i used to have a hot tub back in Maine and I really miss it. |
Ear Plugs ;) |
reading does it for me. good luck. |
I have the same problem. I have taken otc pm meds, but usually feel terrible (sedated) the next day. I'm glad you posted this because it reminded me to make a doc appointment. |
Do you consume ANY caffeine? Coffeee / tea / chocolate / red bull / sports drinks / etc etc If so - try 100% withdrawal..... |
i find working out in the evenings helps me sleep at night. So does drinking a calming tea- usually chamomille or "Sleepy time". Also i've tried Lavender- i just buy the oil and put it on a few cotton swabs which i then put in a baggie and cut holes in it. Sometimes if i'm having a REALLY hard time- i'll just keep the tv on and eventually I fall asleep- something mundane like the home shopping network or something. Have you tried a bath? |
I also found the sleepy time tea to be great. I have at times used Valarien Root and Melatonin which can be found at any health food store and even some drug stores carry it. I have used these products at the advice of my natro path physician. I don't have insomnia but I had some "stressful" periods in my life that caused tossing and turning. You can find lot's of info on these if you google them~ |
