I'm not sure how I started on the beanie baby craze! I think I told myself that I had young nephews and a niece at the time and they might want them one day. Truth is, they only wanted a few! I tried selling them at a garage sale twice and NO ONE wanted them! I finally sold an entire HUGE plastic bin for $5 to a lady that worked at a shelter. It felt good to know they would be going to good use! I also went overboard with buying Ken Griffey and Cincinnati Reds memorabilia years back, again I had a nephew who was into baseball and I figured I could pass it on to him. Well now he's moved on to other sports, so I still have a bunch of that! I don't know if I really have any collections now, except books. If I'm in 1/2 priced books or any bookstore, I could stay all day and buy TONS of books! I love to read! |
Yikes, If I retire and move any time soon Im in trouble. I collect antiques, big and small, Hallmark Pedal Cars, Yorkie stuff, antique bisque dolls, hubby has nascars, and we have alot of DUST here too...... |
I forgot TRAINS!!! DH has a zillion TRAINS. Big ones, small ones, houses, people, platforms. It's insane. I'm thinking about getting a real caboose and putting it in the back yard for him to live in. :D |
Well okay, this is kinda therapy. past collections with dust; BEANIE BABIES...yes I fell into the craze also! I was fortunate to work in a hospital connected to a children's hospital, so they had two gift shops. I had look outs that would call me and I could rush up when they brought out the beanie babies. lol! (I didn't do patient care so no-one was harmed!) ANTIQUES..I've collected since I was a kid and before it was cool! I have furniture and I love kitchen gadgets. But I think I have enough right now. (unless you have some tin spice containers..wait...no....better not....) Norman Rockwell Christmas Ornaments; I have about 10. they seemed to have stopped making the ones I bought after he died. Stopping now...Donna :D |

I used to sell them, have kind of gotten out of it but still have a bunch left. I am happy to post pictures, but need to pull some samples out of storage to photograph. Will get to it in the next day or so! |

I collect Christmas village houses/figurines and proudly display them at Christmas time! Four 8' tables is not enough now, so some stay in the boxes, but the village is awesome and different each year. It has mountains, airport, farm, lake, rural, main street, telephone poles, street lights, etc! Takes quite a bit of time to display everything, but it is an awesome sight each year! And yes, we have beanie babies in acrylic boxes at the top of the closet! |

I have antiques, my son tells me he feels like he lives in the 1800's. :D |
I have many loves; but the two that I cannot do without are my library and my ever-growing yarn stash! |

Now i collect Yorkies..... |
Fabrics and beads! When I was in university, I had a lot of free time for crafts. After I started working 3 1/2 years ago, I've no time for them but it doesn't stop me from buying them, especially fabrics! |
Well, my collecting started with Barbies. I have them from 1960-2009. Then, it went into her clothing, playsets and miniatures for her playsets! Needless to say, Barbie has her own room with a large pink/black sign above the door saying "Barbie Blvd". I hate to admit it but I have so much in that room that I can barely move around in there. I have boxes stacked with unopened boxes of clothes and dolls. Then, I have 3 tall shelving units full of her displayed in some of the playsets (office, boutique, bedroom and nursery). This all led to the collecting of Little Tikes miniature play items for the displays. Beanie Babies --- yes, I have TONS of those, too. Of course I thought that I needed two of everything so that my daughter had a set. Again, in boxes. Hallmark ornaments. I'm not as obsessed with these except that I get one for each of my kids every year and I tried to keep them from "sets" such as Barbie for my daughter and "sports guys" for my son. McDonalds - not only do we have the full sets of the tiny Beanie Babies but I have sets from back in 1988 like Bambi. OMG - they're in barrels! Last but not least - Harley Davidson & Yorkies. We haven't gotten obsessive about them but those are our new focus now. :D Poor Barbie - she's going to get downsized and have to share a room with Mia & Max. I plan on getting one of those signs like Barbie has except it says "Yorkie Ave"! hahaha! My daughter collected turtles, pirates, gorillas and anything Jack Daniels! Good thing she's "legal"! Where does everyone keep their collections? |
