Why do people ask stupid questions?? Ok, today I am in Kohls with my daughters. The line was extremely long, but I don't mind waiting on line there because it really goes fast. Anyway, this woman is walking by asking where the end of the line is!!! What??? I said under my breath, to my daughters, that she should keep walking until she doesn't see anyone else. That would be the end!! I really hate people. The woman in front of me heard me and started to chuckle. She said she was thinking the same thing. I guess I am going to do a lot of Christmas shopping on line this year. I can't go out in public.!! Can't help but get a little cranky. I love when people ask if I am on line!! No, I'm just tired and I'm standing here for my health. |
Hah, I completely understand. I end up doing the largest portion of my Yule shopping online. That way I don't have to drag my kids from store to store in the freezing cold, there's no potential for some nimrod to run them over with their cart, things like that. It works out well. :) |

Okay I have to ask a question.... Hope it doesn't fit into you list of stupid ones, LOL!!! It may be a North/South thing, but I noticed you put "on line" several times, but I say that I am standing "in line". I've always heard it both ways, but now I'm starting to think that "on line" is the right way to say it. What is the difference? |

Yes I meant "in line" when there are people in front of you waiting to pay. I meant "on line" refering to the computer. Sometimes I type faster than my brain. |
:facepalm:Oh, I'm so embarrassed! That is just typical me, sorry... |
The in line / on line thing is regional. I'm from the midwest and it's "in line" I think it's similar to kitty-corner / katty-corner. I took a linguistics class in college - if you ever see those shows on PBS or the science channel or discovery, watch them, they are very cool! I can totally sympathize and although I try not to go out now, I really need to start avoiding stores now that the crazies are coming out. Four employees at Lowes asked if they could help me tonight while I was comparing 2 brands of light bulbs. Not a single one of them knew anything about lightbulbs (yet they sure *thought* they knew more, by reading the box, duh). The reason I was there was that they had already sold my husband the WRONG lightbulbs and he was on the ceiling hanging his new light, so I had to go. The kid held my purchase so he could do an "exchange" and then did a return and purchase anyway, which took twice as long. Ugh! If these places would just pay an extra $2 an hour they could hire some decent people! |

I actually it depends on the situation. We say "I'm standing in line" or "are you on line?" depending on how we're asking/saying. I hate stupid people too LOL. I can't STAND shopping because of people like that. and the ones who push and shove to get to the front of the line or the first register...we're all gonna get there eventually, sweetheart, keep your pants on! |
I must be a moron cause I have asked that question many times  Sometimes I seriously don't know if it's the end of the line or if the people are on the line or what. I think It wouldn't bother me at all , but that is just me :D I do shop online a lot , cause a lot worse has happened to me . |
I understand, sometimes people are just happen to be shopping near the end of the line. But when there is a mile long line, Hello...keep walking. This idiot asked when she was in the middle of the line. We are all standing there and she wants to know where the end is!!! |
I have to say this is one of those threads that drives me crazy...Why can't people have a little patience in life.??? and just be nice. Why the need to call people names. I can tell you I have a mentally ill nephew (it would be hard to tell just by looking at him - many people would say he is slow) and sometimes he has to ask these, what we think are simple questions. He gets confused by crowds of people at times. While I know not everyone asking these questions are slow I think society is getting worse and worse about how we are treating each other. I might add, there have been 10 million (okay I am stretching the truth here) threads on what I consider "stupid" questions in regards to dogs and Yorkies in general but I don't start a thread in regards to this. Please the holidays are upon us and lets try and spread cheer instead of calling people names. |
