I have advair, singulair, albutoral and because the bad asthma days were freakign me out( i would basically have panic attacks because of the fear of not being able to breathe making it worse) so she even gotme on some paxil  . But like I said I forget to take medicine. I am supposed to take the advair twice a day and I am lucky if I get one. I also have ADHD :D . I think I am going to have to start writing post-it notes to myself and putting them all over the house. :p Thanks guys for all of your help. I really think I am going to write me notes or set an alarm so I can rememeber to take my medicine. I will also have to try the steamy bathroom next time I have a day like I did yesterday. Hugs to everyone on YT for being so sweet and helpful! |

I have it and I really understand how you feel. Quite frankly...It sucks! Not being able to breath adequately is a scary feeling! My chest feels tight and rattles and wheezes. I get light headed, my fingers and toes tingle, my heart races and I cough my head off, sometimes. Albuterol (rescue inhaler) almost always helps me. Had to have emergency nebulizer treatments (Felt like I was doing bong hits with the way the medicine is delivered) :eyebrow2: I hate the Albuterol because it makes my heart race even more. It's a big ol' dose of adrenaline! Using more than directed is not a good thing. It can cause a heart attack so be careful. I'm also supposed to take a preventative, Advair, but I don't. It's like sucking up a pile of crushed chalk. Some of my known triggers are molds, perfumes, and maybe wine. It's important to pay attention to your triggers- Take notice when your asthma flares up and keep track. I do want to mention that there could be other causes for you symptoms. Its worrisome that your chest pains can last all day. Either your asthma isn't under control or there is the possibility that you have another condition. I think you need to discuss this with your doctor. Now, heres an interesting thing I just learned. Because I have lung disease I am susceptible to all kinds of ugly things including ...........kennel cough! I adopted a Maltese from a shelter just over a week ago who yesterday was dianosed with kennel cough. I became ill a few days ago- coughing, sneezing and a runny nose. I have a soar throat and nasty chest/lung pains. Hmmm, weird huh? Below is cited from; http://www.petfinder.org/journalinde...lateprint.html SPECIAL NOTE: Bordetella is now considered to be a zoonotic disease. Although the risk of getting sick from contact with a pet is small, it must be considered. It is most easily transmitted to very young children, the elderly and people who are immune compromised. Cats may also be susceptible. Yikes! Sorry this is so long. I hope you feel better soon, ShanaTink! Monique |
