Anyone Heard from our Texas Members? I woke up this morning to all the news about Hurricane Rita and was hoping that all our Texas members were safe.. Has anyone heard from any of them ?:( |
I'm looking for the same information. Here is Louisiana -- its a very bad situation. I'm near to New Orleans and all of the lower part of Terrebonne Parish is under water. I haven't heard about Lafourche Parish yet but I'm expecting that to be bad as well. I hate to see the damage to Cameron, La. They were expecting the tidal surge to extend as far as I-10. I haven't watched the New Orleans stations yet this morning . . . still watching local Houma news to see how bad it is here. My husband's mother was evacuated to our house a few days ago. At 5:30 this morning, the water began rising where she lives in Chauvin and her house is now inundated with water. The weather is still bad here. Its been bad since yesterday morning! Hoping Villette will check in soon. |
Louisana Members Oh my gosh, Carter's mom, I'm so sorry I did not add Louisiana in my thread title.. I'm also concerned about you guys too, I lknow what you guys have gone through and to go through that nightmare again, I can't even imagine.. Please stay safe and may "he" be watching over all of you! ;) |

Villette is on here and I just PM her they have fine. |
Hi all - Lisa That is awful !!! We had the high winds but no flooding - lost our power and it came on this morning but Texas is still getting hit this morning with 100 MPH winds - I PRAY Louisanna will make it thru this too - this could have been so much worse - but it's still bad .....Jasper TX is now getting a major hit and I can only hope that little town makes it - it's way out there .... |
i am hoping that more people report in here. i wonder how many members we have that are in the path? as bad as it is it could have been much worse. i saw on one of the news channels there was a dog left in a small kennel that survived the building falling down around it. poor thing was so scared and wet. |
The only section of Louisiana that has not been affected in Louisiana is the central coast area from Lafayette to Morgan City. There is still plenty more time in this hurricane season! If we take a hit to Lafayette/Morgan City -- I'll have severe damage. Just heard from my daughter -- the central part of our city has no electricity. Of course, she is ready to come home NOW! Lisa |
It SUCKS having no power - we had none last night and man was it hot !...I was missing the net when I got up but what we had is minor compared to other parts of TX and LA - PRAYING for all the people in the storm right now - We have fires in Houston but there is MAJOR DAMAGE in the towns of Jasper and that area - many people are in Trailers in that town - I can only hope they got out in time They evacuated Houston - but I don't think these towns this hurricane is hitting now evacuated - Many people are stuck in the middle of it right now ! |
Lisa...Is she in an area that's flooding ? |
Villette .... so thankful to hear you, your hubby & sweet girls are OK!! I have been watching this since 4 AM and am glad everything is better than feared!! It is sad watching it all and especially the Orange/Lake Charles. We were living in that area just last year!! I believe I will LOVE Colorado for a long, long time!! :) Take care of yourselves ... it isn't over yet! |
Bettyanne - it is really bad in that area and you DID get out just in time didn't you !! I can't believe that part of the country is getting hit twice back to back - they must be so depressed and tired of this horrible weather - and I have a feeling in the coming years it's just going to be worse....You stay RIGHT where you are.....Colorado is a BEAUTIFUL awesome state ! |
1 Attachment(s) No -- she was about 5 miles from me in upper Lafourche Parish. No flooding there. I just went get her and her friend. There are just small branches down - nothing large. Katrina brought down most of the big branches a month ago. After the winds stop, if Ed goes to work, I'm going to call the paper to go on storm duty taking photos (after the LSU game on Monday night). Has anyone seen the computer models? This thing could loop through Louisiana and emerge back into the Gulf of Mexico. This is Juan all over again! |
Villette and Lisa, Im so happy that you are ok. Villette Im glad you got your power back, i know you need it cause of your husband. Lisa Im also happy that your daugther is safe. I really hope that everyone that is in the pass of Rita will be safe. I will have you all in my prayers. |

Lisa, hate to hear that you guys are having to tuff it out again. L.A. has had a really hard time this summer. Keep us update on how things are. We've still got wind but that's about it. Took the boards off the house today to let in some light. Was getting pretty depressed. Will keep on praying for those that Rita is affecting. |
