Hmm...let's see, had a few run ins with some famous people.

LOL...I'm married to the lead guitarist for Train, didn't you know? ;)

Back in about 98 or so when Matchbox 20 was just gaining popularity, I went to one of their concerts and was hanging out in the area with all the bars. Guy comes up to us and starts chatting, asking us if we like the band, etc etc. Probably talked to him for 20 min or so. A bit later, Matchbox 20 took the stage and low and behold, the guy that was chatting with us was the freaking drummer. (OK, I admit, at the time the only one I could have identified was Rob Thomas.)

Hmm..met NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne once. Actually, have met quite a few sports figures...mainly college players or people who played for U of A, went Pro for a while and then ended up living back in the city.

Used to work with Ruben Studdard's aunt back when he was actually ON AI. He came up to visit her at work one day and I got to meet him. Actually, it's not at all hard to run into him around B'ham. Almost literally ran into him in Wal-Mart one day and walked into Victoria's Secret as he was walking out. (Won't go there.)

Washed my hands in a bathroom sink beside Tootie (Kim Fields) from The Facts of Life in Disney World once. Was in Epcot the same day as Michael Jackson once....didn't know it until a few days afterwards though.

Met all the guys in a band called Barely Breathing when they opened for Train in Orlando a few years ago at the House of Blues.

Back in the late 90's when WWF was very popular, I met Billy Gunn (AKA Mr. A**) when he came into B'ham to have surgery. (I was doing an internship for that doc at the time.)

Met Clay Walker once back when he toured. (My cousin is his lead guitarist.)

Not sure if you'd classify them as "famous", but I think I've run into just about all the kids that were on that MTV show "Two A Days" that was on for 2 seasons. (Being as I work in Hoover where it was filmed.)

Only famous person I'm actually related to was Hitler. Hubby is related to a singer named Jim Stafford. (Not sure who he is, but people ask him that all the time.)

Richard Simmons at LAX in a store where a woman was "attempting" to purchase a candy bar...out comes a short-shorts adorned squealing Richard Simmons throwing himself across the counter to reason her into a better snack choice with a bag of peanuts...it was actually quite hilarious! :D

That is hilarious!

I'm in LA so it's unavoidable! Most bizarre, Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman. The people who I worked for at the time went over to his house, and I went with them. He is an interesting, yet nice person. I have worked and do work with well-known people in my line of work. Can't really spill the beans on that though.

I always enjoyed PeeWee, and I'm sad they made such a big deal out of his indiscretion. He does seem like an interesting person. I've got to tell you, I really admire, your stance on not spilling the beans about those you work with, I've always thought that people who were privy to private information of the celebrities should keep their mouths shut, and the ones who sensationalized certain stories to gain money are real lowlifes.

One of my ex-roommates when I lived in Orlando went to Dr Phillips HS and was good friends with Joey Fatone from Nsync he would come to visit him at our Apt. from time to time. (he got us passes to see and meet Britney Spears when she performed at Universal City Walk in Orlando for a via satellite performance on the Nickelodeon's Kid Choice awards like in 1998 or 99)

Sir Dyno from the Darkroom Familia is my grandpa's nephew

I partied with Chris Rock and Micheal Jordan in Vegas when I was like 21 or 22...

My grandpa is good friends with Tex Earnhardt (famous where I am from in Arizona)
My hubby used to be friends with this guy who was friends with Mike Tyson and Matt Leinhart, who he's hung out with (met them both myself too)

I had drinks at the Le Hermitage hotel on Santa Monica Blvd with Sting, his wife Trudy, Aj Mclean (his GF Sarah Martin at the time), David Arquette and Courtney Cox

My cousin was married to Omri Katz's brother (he was the kid in Hocus Pocus)
-(she is also friends with NBA Player Charlie Villanueva and his brother)
I met Mandy Moore when she was on tour with BSB

I met all of the Backstreet Boys and had drinks with them in St Louis along with some members of their band...(when I lived in Orlando, I met Howie's mom and dad and been to their old family house on Eola Dr)

Once at a comedy show where I was near the stage Paul Rodriguez pulled me backstage and kissed me on the cheek (eww)

I met George Lopez and dropped my sunglasses under his table once...
I also met Alex Reymundo and Darren Carter several times and invited to shows

wow, this is getting long...

I was in the elevator with Cuba Gooding Jr and once of his sons at my Drs office, once with Dustin Hoffman too at St Johns Medical Center in Santa Monica

I met on the street just living in LA : Katy Perry, Damon Wayans, Lead singer of the RHCP- Anthony Kedis, I was stuck on the 405 with my hubby and Kobe Bryant was in a black range rover next to us, also on the 405 I saw Matthew Perry... Adrienne Curry (She lives in Manhattan Beach saw her at Target there) Pumped gas next to Lou Ferrigno (Hulk)

My uncle used to personal train the Ultimate Warrior a long time ago and I met some wrestlers then like Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant to name a few...

I could go on and on, but

LOL I said that to Cuba Gooding Jr... I asked him "OMG, do you know who you are!?" Hahaha then he looked at me and said "yeah, do you know who u are?"
But he was really nice, but wouldnt take any pics because he said he was on his private time with his son. (which I can totally respect ) :)

I love reading all of these! It's so interesting. :)

Let me see ... my list is really short.

I met Ben Stein. He was on my flight to Oklahoma City. We had to wait in the hallway between the airport and the plane for our luggage. He was there, and I totally did a double take when I walked by to get in line. He seemed very nice. After he got his luggage, he walked toward the airport and stopped to look at me and said, "You're so pretty. You must be an actress." Aww, Ben Stein.

I also met Vince Young, previous Texas QB and player for the Titans. I was working in OKC at the time, but I went down to Austin to hang out with friends. We went to the roof of some club and were just hanging out when one of the managers of the club comes up to one of my friends (they knew each other) and told her Vince Young was hanging out only a few feet away in the corner with some other people. At the time he was still in favour with the Titans and the public, and he was being honoured at Texas with some award the next day. I'm not the type that goes crazy over celebrity encounters (even though I do love my horns), so I just shrugged it off and continued dancing with my friends.

Well, less than ten minutes later, one of Vince Young's friends comes up to me and asks me if I have a boyfriend. I tell him no and then he says "VY" thinks I'm hot and wants my number. I ask him who "VY" is. After he tells me Vince Young, I tell him if "VY" wants my number, then he can not be a pansy by sending his posse over, and he can ask for it himself. He told me to not shoot the messenger :p and left. Young looked over a few more times, but we all left shortly after. The best part of the whole experience: the club let us stay after 2am (which is closing time in Austin) because of the party.

Oh, and when I got back to OKC, I told some of my co-workers, and they thought that was hilarious. Shortly after, Young had his I'm-going-nuts moment and all the guys joked that I had driven him insane by turning him down. I was also told to stay away from Sam Bradford, OU's QB. :(

Thank you, Nancy. I could never dish out the details, much less names of who I worked for past and present. They're people just like you and me, and the nature of my job requires some degree of confidentiality whether the person is famous or not.

LOL Jamie that's so funny, I'm sure you made him go mad! Your story reminded me of a club story now too...

I forget the name of the place, but in LA they change club names so fast anyway. We seen Nick Cannon  standing up on his booth trying to pump up the crowd. I think he was just looking for attention. He was so freakin loud! Then one of my friend's friends see Too Short, this old skool rapper that I have NO IDEA who that is. She's like OMG Too Short! So I go over to him (I'm all drunk of course) and go "Oh my friend really wants to say hello" and pull her over. She was so happy afterward. He was really nice.

Then we see Lil Kim walk by, this was when she first got out of prison. She has had soooo much plastic surgery we weren't sure if it was really her, but there are only so many girls that are 5' tall with platforms on and big boobs, etc. Yah it was her.

The most notible of that evening was we also seen Suge Knight. Man that guy is HUGE! Since I was drunk I was like, Hey you guys dare me to go shake his hand? And everyone was like NO! Don't look him in the eye! LOL

I also remember there was a very stong "odor" in the air all night. It was some private hip hop party, and I have no idea how I got invited, seeing as how I'm not into that stuff, but it was fun to experience.

Drinks were like $12 bucks each though :thumbdown

Nick Cannon annoys me by breathing. I can't imagine having to listen to him try and pump the crowd up. ;)

Wow! You met a ton of rappers! Your Suge Knight story is my favourite. I would have been the drunk going up with you to shake his hand. :D

That reminds me of one more story: I met Chuck D. I was at SXSW in Austin interning at a news station, and we got to meet him. He was very nice as well. It's great to meet celebrities who aren't absolute jerks. I didn't have anything for him to sign really, so I made him sign the cover of my college ID. I know. I'm so lame. OR I'm the coolest kid with a college ID ... but I'm betting it's probably the former.

capt_noonie 08-15-2009 07:58 PM

Oh I can't believe I forgot. If anyone else is also following the Celeb crush thread (which incl Joseph Gordon-Levitt)...

My great aunt is an actress. She has been in a bunch of stuff. Anyone watch 3rd rock from the sun? She was the old Asian lady in the adult ed class. She's also been in movies with Jet Li, Jackie Chan, and Will Smith. Everytime there is a family reunion she brings her little photo album. It's so funny and cute.

Also anyone remember Next Friday with Ice Cube? The neighbor Ho Kim. She is actually chinese and NOT a grandma. That is a family friend of my great aunt. She was also the same person who played the grandma in All american girl, if anyone is a fan of Margaret Cho.

Yup you're right about Nick Cannon :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :rolleyes: Like how many of these  can I do to show how I feel about him?

Suge... I was totally gonna do it, but the girl who I introduced to Too Short was like "No he kills his friends" LOL I guess she was scared of him.

Now Chuck D I know. He's cool and I love his glasses.

Oh yea, also at Leo's 25th bday party, they were playing Slick Rick "bedtime story", a song I actually know and like. Then the record cuts out, and I'm like Hey WTF? and guess what happens? Slick Rick is there in all his eye patch blinged out glory live to perform the song.:D
