We're staying. Just a little update to let everyone know that we are going to stay. Looks like Rita will be hitting the eastern part of Texas and we won't get a direct hit. Will more than likely be rain and some wind so we're going to tough it out. Got my 20 gage ready and a box of shells. Have had people coming from Houston that have been stranded at gas stations. It's really sad. I want to invite some over but you don't know what their intentions are. Who can you trust? This is horribly sad so see these people. Please keep them in your prayers. |
i'm SO happy that you're staying!! i am still praying for everyone in its path. but please, make sure you stay safe! |
please be safe !! |
2 Attachment(s) Here's the picture from earlier today and the latest one. It's moving away from Houston...YEAH, VILLETTE! |
I just saw that you were on, and I thought maybe you got somewhere and plugged in! I was impressed that you went to YT right away!! lol Reading the posts, someone said to freeze lots of water for if you loose power. And find your matches, candles, flashlights and all that stuff. Or do like Villette, get the grooming products out so you can have something to do! Be safe Kimberly! |
Oh, I hope you will be safe there. I know where Victoria is. That thing is a whopper! I think you ought to leave. :( Have you heard any mention of Bay City on the news re: this storm? |

I've been putting water in ziplocks and freezing them. can use them to cool down food and once it melts, you can drink it. fixin to go freeze some more. LOLOLOL! Only Villette would think of something like that!!!!!!! :D :D :D |
Do you think the odds of them calling off the S.O. are very high? I hope they do that, but I hesitate to believe they will... |
Please be safe!!! |

well, they're letting him come home at 6 tomorrow morning...regular shift...and then the sheriff and others will have a meeting at 8...will know by noon. Having a couple of guys that work out of town stay with us...should I fix breakfast or not.... |
I wouldn't fix breakfast. I'd just turn the kitchen over to them! :D |
Looks like you'll get rain but otherwise be far enough away from the damage. I am worried about my family in galveston, though.....they have 8 girls all under the age of 13 and they said they're staying. That's poor judgment if you ask me....with so many lives in your hands, wouldn't it be best to be safe than sorry????!!!! |
I don't think there's any safe place in that area because they said they were expecting 20 - 30 inches of rain. That means huge floods! When my grandmother was a little girl, they lived near Caldwell (and the Brazos River) and they were flooded from the 1900 hurricane. I can't believe anyone is staying at Galveston! I saw a guy on the news this evening that said he lived on 4th floor of his condo and he was staying! |
