That's why I love cruises, you get a sampling of a part of the world, and if you like it you can come back another time and spend a whole week in your fave part of the cruise. Just one day is like an appetizer. But what I don't like about them is they give you so much food onboard you barely have room to try the local food. Notice i said "barely" LOL |
Cornwall, southern England Lobster thermidor I am winding myself up now |

A cruise would be nice, I spent a few years on the grey funnel line not bad food but not as a good as a cruise liner |
I am on my 3rd passport and that runs out just before xmas |
all my visas have expired now, especially the USA ones, not easy to get one now, we have to apply in advance, no more green form on the flight It's even hard to get back in Uk unless your an assylum seeker Tongue in Cheek |
My first passport has a mugshot from the Navy in it Occupation: Government Service We are allowed to keep our old passports, the office cuts off the top right corner and sends it back with the new one. Mine are like a picture history of me through the years |

What part are you from? I've only been to London, and surrounding areas to see the castles. Let's see do i remember... Oh my dad wanted to see Bodiam Castle for years, he loves castles. Leeds, and we went to see Stonehenge, I was surprised at how close it was to the freeway. Oh I remember we would always grab a sandwich at Upper Crust at the train stations before departing and we would save it for lunch b/c most of the time once we got out to the castles there was nothing to eat. Those sandwiches were good. :D |

I'll be sure to cruise from my own side of the country then  Paying to be miserable would NOT make the food taste better :D Haven't been to California but have found great food in NM AZ and NV! |
I was born and bred in London and moved 150 north to Staffordshire in February this year, a nice place in the hills. Leeds castle is fascinating, it was one of King Henry VIII palaces for visiting royalty, i was lucky enough to go to a banquet there once, it was all theme in costumes etc, massive roast beef joints that we had to carve ourselves, there was a harpist and flutist playing as we ate, afterwards there was country dancing, real olde worlde stuff and copious amounts of meade to drink. You would have loved that, especially as you are into costumes, if you ever visit again I can tell you where they do all these banquets. Yes Stonehenge is only half a mile from the main road that cuts through the country, when I visited it as a kid, you could walk up and touch it all, that has changed now, all touristy for money. NowThat would be some food to re-create;) Anybody have great recs for hole-in-the-wall places? I'll plan a road trip....I swear I will....:D |
It is awesome Just walking around the castle is breathtaking, the heraldry room is something else, all the coats of arms and suits of armour of the reigning dynasties. My company at the time paid for all of us to go to the banquet as a christmas treat. Certainly one of my better nights out. |
Does anyone have any favorite BBQ joints? The more off beat and hole-in-the-wallish the better:D (reminds me of one of my faves NAMED "Walls") - and it is ( a hole!)! |
