Angry

Ok really really mad....

Went to D23 (Disney convention) here in Anaheim on Fri. We were supposed to see Tim Burton (among others) talk about their new projects, so Tim would be talking about Alice, maybe letting us know some more about the movie since he was at Comicon. Which BTW if you remember I missed him then by 2 days.

Anyway, the *itch at the entrance of the arena was having this big power trip telling all us rejects (stragglers) that the arena was closed and was already at capacity, and that even if people came out, no one was to be let in. She was saying it like she made up the rules, but in reality all she needed to say was "fire marshall" and we would have shut the "f" up. But no, she needed to be snarky about it.

Sooooo, we missed a 2hour+ long show which included appearances by Tim of course, Jerry Bruckheimer, the Travolta Family, Miley Cyrus performed (big whoop), Nicolas Cage, some other Disney whatevers... and at the end who comes out? F-ING JOHNNY DRESSED UP AS JACK SPARROW TO PROMOTE PIRATES PART4!

OMG when I heard people talking about it, I was so mad I was almost going to throw up. I wanted to go back to that lady and pull her throat out.

So anyway, ugh.

Officially, POTC4 is called Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Oh also, we were lead to believe that an Alice in Wonderland setup was to be at D23 like they had at Comicon, WHICH WE ALSO MISSED B/C IT WAS NOT LISTED IN THE PROGRAM!!! And no it was not there. All they had was a dinky little table set up all tea party style, and this gay guy who was supposed to be a sorry excuse for Johnny's Mad Hatter. (Not trying to be insensitive about gay guys, I'm just mad that's all.) I wanted to see the costumes (b/c that's my thing is movie costumes) and nope it wasn't there. The gay guy's costume was horrid BTW.

I was so excited to go to this event, and I was gonna take all these pics of Yodi there. Nothing there warranted even one photo, nothing was good enough for Yodi to pose with. I want my $37 back! x2 b/c my bf went to, which meant we closed up shop to go to this and lost even more money by not going to work!

Oh and you wanna know the reason why we were late? We went to McD's for some lunch. It was 10:29 when we got up to the drive thru. They said, Oh sorry only breakfast right now. Us: It's 10:29, so you just want me to wait one minute? Them: Oh sorry no. Ugh, so we went to another McD's, and same thing. Come to find out they changed breakfast till 11am now. WTF All this time I've gone there wanting breakfast and it's 10:32 and they say, Oh sorry we only have lunch now. F-ING MCD'S MADE ME MISS JD!!!!!!!!

Ok I'm done ranting, but I'm still really f-ing PO'd!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for all the F bombs, but I'm really mad, and I am never going to let this go.

Johnny Depp, Miley Cyrus, Nicholas Cage, John Travolta pop up at D23
September 11th, 2009, 1:37 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Eric Carpenter
Johnny Depp, Miley Cyrus, Nicolas Cage and John Travolta joined the chairman of The Walt Disney Studios on stage at the D23 Expo this morning to offer a sneak peek at upcoming Disney blockbusters.
The surprise appearances of the A-list stars caused a frenzy inside the Anaheim Convention Center. None of the stars were announced in advance, but rumors had swirled before the event, which drew more than 2,000 to the arena.
The loudest screams came when Depp emerged at the end in full costume and spoke in character as Jack Sparrow to promote the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strange Tides,” the fourth in the blockbuster franchise. That movie is due out in 2011.
Depp mumbled a few words as he stepped off of a replica pirate ship. But his voice was drowned out by the screams of fans as a big screen showed a closeup of his face, proving it was truly him.
He stumbled toward Cook and asked about the whereabouts of the frog — referring to an early appearance by Kermit the Frog and the Muppets (who also will make another film under the Disney umbrella).
“I like frogs,” Depp said, with his classic faux-British accent, picking at his pirate teeth. “They taste like chicken.”
Depp also has signed on to play Tonto in “The Lone Ranger,” also due out in 2011, Cook announced.
Studio chairman Dick Cook made several announcements about upcoming movies, many to wild cheers from the audience. (More of those details to come in this blog.)

New article about pirates 4:

HOLLYWOOD -- Last month, Johnny Depp walked on stage at the Anaheim Convention Center in his Jack Sparrow costume and delighted a surprised audience of Disney fans with his rummy buccaneer's trademark mutter. Within an hour, award-winning fantasy author Tim Powers found a flurry of e-mails from surprised friends and fans filling his inbox.
The reason: Depp's theatrical appearance at Disney's D23 Expo included the announcement that the fourth Sparrow film would be titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," echoing the name of a 1987 fantasy novel by Powers about pirates and the Fountain of Youth. Everyone wanted to know if Powers had hit the Hollywood jackpot -- or if he needed to be in touch with his attorney.
Powers was in a tricky spot. He wanted to publicly celebrate a career windfall, but the folks at Disney had made it clear that he was supposed to keep everything under wraps. He was more surprised than anyone that the title had been trumpeted at Disney's promotional convention.
"I was still -- as far as I understood -- not free to talk about it," the author said Monday. "Then about a week ago my agent wrote and said, 'You're now able to say that, in fact, Disney did option the book.' That happened awhile ago; it'll be three years in April."
The novelist, with a dozen books to his credit, is still a bit dazed that a book he published during the Reagan administration will set sail in May 2011 as the new edition of a Disney franchise that has racked up $1.78 billion in worldwide box office since hoisting its flag in 2003.
"Yes, I'm thrilled," Powers said, "I think it's great."
The 57-year-old is a two-time winner of the World Fantasy Award, taking the prize home for "Last Call," (the 1992 tale based in the gritty underbelly of Las Vegas that weaves in tales of ancient magic and wagers for the soul) and "Declare" (a 2001 novel that presents the secret supernatural history of Civil War spies and conspiracies). All his books, he says, have "some kind of supernatural stuff going on; it's the only sort of stories I can think of."
Powers is intrigued to see how Hollywood will bend his historical fantasy to its needs. In the original form, "On Stranger Tides" was the tale of "Jack Shandy" Chandagnac, who is the son of a British puppeteer who gave up the family marionette tradition after his father died destitute. He sets sail for Jamaica to find the nefarious uncle who stole his father's rightful inheritance, but en route he is captured by pirates who practice sorcery. They give him the choice of joining their ranks or being executed. Soon he reluctantly falls into service to Blackbeard, who is on a quest to locate the Fountain of Youth.
"I've watched all the movies several times, of course, and I think the clear thing they would use is the trip to the Fountain of Youth," Powers said. "My main character doesn't overlap with Jack Sparrow at all (in personality or circumstance). They're totally different characters. I suppose they might overlap the Geoffrey Rush character Barbossa and Blackbeard. The only thing I feel certain they will hold on to is the Fountain of Youth, since they telegraphed that at the end of the last movie."
Either way, Powers said he was not going to walk into the theater with many expectations other than hoping to have a good time as a moviegoer.
"Some people said, 'Powers, are you worried that they're going to mess up your book?' I always think of something James Cain, the author of 'The Postman Always Rings Twice,' said when people asked what he thought of the things Hollywood had done to his books. He pointed to the bookshelf and said, 'They haven't done anything to them, look.' That's my attitude. Just take all the fun stuff and, of course, any checks. ... It strikes me as unrealistic to look at it in any other way."
Still Powers has a bit of concern about the project as it moves forward, considering some recent reports. On Sept. 18, after the D23 Expo, Depp spoke to Claudia Eller of the Los Angeles Times and said that the abrupt ouster of longtime Disney studio chief Dick Cook had dampened his interest in a fourth "Pirates" film.
"There's a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment," the star said, saying also that he was "shocked and very sad" to see Cook walk the corporate plank after playing such a key role in the "Pirates" success story. "Pirates" would also be moving forward without Gore Verbinski, the director of the opening trilogy. Monday, Powers sounded like a man who wishes he could cast a voodoo spell on all the Hollywood players who are navigating the cinematic ship of the "Pirates" franchise. "Nobody talk to each other. Everyone just stand and smile. Don't do anything to mess this up. Let's keep this going, OK?"

Default Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Saw it last night. Set design and costumes were absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Story.... mmmmm just ok. I am a fan of Terry Gilliam (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Time Bandits) and I know he's not for everyone. Heath Ledger was awesome. Johnny's part was VERY small. He was great though. (One Night Stand motel hee hee hee) Lily Cole was VERY good as a first time model turned actress (as far as I know) her costumes were GORGEOUS!!! as is she. A little slow going, but if you are into the non-blockbuster stuff you will enjoy this movie.

Thank you Capt Noonie for inviting me. I'm so uncool that it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to actually join the club. I hope tattoos aren't required. Love them on JD, not on me. All admirers of Johnny need to check out Star Magazine for the article in which his girlfriend Vanessa Paradis dishes about her wonderful life with the man. It's Star, so you know that it is all true. I saw it at my local Walmart, which is usually behind schedule on smutty rag magazines, so check it out soon...

I cannot wait to see IDP! Disappointed to hear the story was ho-hum, but glad that the visual feast in the trailer was representative of the film as a whole.
